In 2007 I took my 4 year old son to a large group interview for aspiring child actors. There were reps for Disney and Nickelodeon holding interviews with the children. Out of hundreds of children my son was one of about ten children selected to meet with execs in San Francisco. The week before we were supposed to meet in SF, I had a conversation with myself and thought about consequences of letting my child join the industry. I decided against it. Although I'm the type of parent that would accompany my child EVERYWHERE when meeting with people/auditioning, I was wary of exposing my child to the sickness of Hollywood. I made the correct decision 💯

I am 63 and I started being abused at age 5 1/2 .Please listen to people when they tell you this is happening because they are hurting deep inside. Mj sat down with him and discussed it. It is gross to look at those pictures, but with a kid at 13, who may look at starting to explore sex soon (which is common with teens), that was a pretty mature thing to do with a kid that age, showing them that book and explaining the dangers. Never once has Corey ever claimed that MJ showed him porn.

He walked right over to Me and quietly said as he looked Me in the eyes an said, " Don't put your kids in show business, it's not what you think,an it'll ruin their lives." I heeded his advice and promptly left with my children. I've never been able to shake the amount of despair he wore on his face that day. He clearly seemed troubled and didn't want to be there.

Back in 1980 my sister expressed her desire to be an actor. The agent my sister (mom was there) went to interview with told my sister and our mom that she needed to give off more of a sexy vibe (my sister was 12!). My mom told him he was sick and told him where to go as she walked out of that meeting. My sister tried again on her own when she was 18. The agent she interviews with told her that while she was very beautiful and had the talent to become famous, she would have better chances of getting work if she showed her "appreciation" during her auditions. My sister spat at his feet, turned and left. She did end up acting, but it was in Broadway shows. She said the atmosphere was different and she was never pressured to do anything except give her all at every performance. She didn't become a household name, but she was able to do what she loved for 10 years.
Your sister was better off. She would have been abused and tortured like so many souls have since this industry began. I’m happy she was able to pursue her career without selling her soul. ❤🎉

Very hands on, taking initiative to keep the child calm and comfortable during what is often a nightmare for parents-long flights with small children.

I didn’t see the interview with Corey Feldman until my kids were five and six years old and had been modeling since they were babies. The next move was obviously going to be commercials, and then TV auditions. I yanked them out the day after I saw this, and I’m so glad I did. I’m so sorry this happened to you Corey, and so many other child actors. Rest In Peace, Corey Haim.

Poor kid. I'm a 57 year old survivor of the same thing for 8 years starting at age 7. Didn't say a word to a soul, including my husband or my mom until my life absolutely collapsed from mental torment and prescription pill abuse. I had 2 children. I was 32 years old. People were JUST starting to open up about it 😢 So grateful to God for His hand in my life, leading me to healing through counseling and the right Drs and a very forgiving, understanding husband. If I hadn't have had a family to live for, I absolutely would not be here today 😢 It fundamentally changes who you are FOREVER. It takes hard work and it sucks because it's so painful to even admit it even though deep down you know it's not your fault, but it absolutely feels like it is. Sorry, once I get started it's hard to stop, because I've learned how to talk about it, and I'm obviously very passionate about this issue 💔💔💔

I suffered so much abuse as a kid. I took drugs for years- hiding from the daily anxiety and triggers. Ive been sober for 7 years by the grace of God. I had to learn that we are not for here long - I had to forgive myself for keeping this horror and pain as long as I did. I do my best to put my parents who betrayed me BEHIND. I have no family now- but i am finally able to live in peace- which i never thought i could ❤ My mind is finally getting the silence I desperately needed. You can have it too. Lots of uncomfortable and awful things you have to face, but when it's said and done- you can find what it means to live in peace💗💗

In 2007 I took my 4 year old son to a large group interview for aspiring child actors. There were reps for Disney and Nickelodeon holding interviews with the children. Out of hundreds of children my son was one of about ten children selected to meet with execs in San Francisco. The week before we were supposed to meet in SF, I had a conversation with myself and thought about consequences of letting my child join the industry. I decided against it.
Although I'm the type of parent that would accompany my child EVERYWHERE when meeting with people/auditioning, I was wary of exposing my child to the sickness of Hollywood.

Same. As soon as they said, my daughter needed to meet with some execs by herself and I wouldn't be allowed in the room past a certain point. We left and never looked back.🙌

Back in 1980 my sister expressed her desire to be an actor. The agent my sister (mom was there) went to interview with told my sister and our mom that she needed to give off more of a sexy vibe (my sister was 12!). My mom told him he was sick and told him where to go as she walked out of that meeting. My sister tried again on her own when she was 18. The agent she interviews with told her that while she was very beautiful and had the talent to become famous, she would have better chances of getting work if she showed her "appreciation" during her auditions. My sister spat at his feet, turned and left. She did end up acting, but it was in Broadway shows. She said the atmosphere was different and she was never pressured to do anything except give her all at every performance. She didn't become a household name, but she was able to do what she loved for 10 years.
Your sister was better off. She would have been abused and tortured like so many souls have since this industry began. I’m happy she was able to pursue her career without selling her soul. ❤🎉

The abuse of children in Hollywood goes back to as early as the 1920s, from what I have found. No doubt the abuse goes earlier than that.
I sat in front of he, his wife and their toddler on a 5 hr flight from LA to ATL and he could not have been more kind, patient and attentive to that child. Very hands on, taking initiative to keep the child calm and comfortable during what is often a nightmare for parents-long flights with small children.

I didn’t see the interview with Corey Feldman until my kids were five and six years old and had been modeling since they were babies. The next move was obviously going to be commercials, and then TV auditions. I yanked them out the day after I saw this, and I’m so glad I did. I’m so sorry this happened to you Corey, and so many other child actors. Rest In Peace, Corey Haim.

My mind is finally getting the silence I desperately needed. You can have it too. Lots of uncomfortable and awful things you have to face, but when it's said and done- you can find what it means to live in peace💗💗

Yes, that was heartbreaking to see. They were both so young, both so hurt and both so helpless. They couldn't protect themselves, let alone someone else.

Me too I loved every part of my 80’s childhood! Go out play till supper, no cell phones or real worries just fun come in have a sleepover watch videos in a VCR lol if our kids even knew it that ever was! Interest treasure that time not a lot of money but sure a lot of fun. God bless them both License to Drive!…. You deserve the praise, otherwise it could be so much worse, and people are afraid of what they don’t understand and you brought that fear to light and could’ve saved and continue to save so many lives.😊
Growing up in the 80's watching their movies and crushing on them made it heartbreaking to hear about the abuse they endured and how Corey Haim passed was so heartbreaking.
