  • There is no secret that the 23 Albury is a highly sought after boat that holds its value better than almost any other 23' center console. In this video I go over why exactly that. We explore the features of this 23 Albury and then after that we go into the performance that makes these Albury Brothers boats so famous. A couple quick details for yall before we get started. She is a 2022 Albury Brothers 23 powered with a Yamaha F300 engine. Instead of the Birdsall Marine hard top, she has a laceless soft top that helps to keep the center of gravity low. She has Garmin electronics, Zipwake trim tabs, a JL Audio sound system, and custom Birdsall Marine diamond stitched upholstery. She really is the perfect small center console.

    While I'll have a different opinion on this boat...I love your Bahama/Abaco tour videos! Keep them coming.

      I am the first person to admit that the 23 Albury is definitely a boat that is not for everyone. It takes the right person who “gets” an Albury for it to be the perfect boat. For us, having a long family history in The Abacos and also having the 41 Bahama for serious fishing and all that, it suits our needs well and we love the history and charm of the boat. Definitely not for everyone though. And I appreciate that!! I actually put out a survey on a community post here this AM asking what kinds of videos people want to see more of so that really helps that you said that! Thank you!

    I have had an older 23 Contender than a newer 04 23 regulator and then ordered a 23 from Jeff Lichterman in 08. Hands down..Best riding all around does so many things right type of boat. Perfect for the GOM and what impressed me is the soft re-entry. It is very hard to make these hulls slam. Super simple, with less is more approach and extremely well built. Basically, a lifetime boat. I am a cat guy and if I went back to a mono CC I would get another Albury bros. It is the closest ride to a cat that you can get in a mono hull. Great review. Subscribed

    By far the wettest riding boat I've ever been on...on par with the old family boat I grew up with as a kid which was a 1960 16' Crownline w/40 Evinrude. Same hull shape so no surprise. I do agree its a basic built boat that looks like it was made back in the '60's..so old school design. Not sure I agree on the ride. Maybe it comes to life in ocean conditions, but not in a river chop from my experience. Problem I found with it, the one I rode on had twin Yamaha 115's, was you can't trim the boat out of the water, so in a beam river chop like we were in, the boat just rode flat, the waves sprayed out the sides up into the wind and back on to us. Trim tabs would have helped...then could've leaned the boat and possibly reduced the amount of spray. Maybe hard core fisherman appreciate it, but I can tell you my first boat, a 1983 Cobia rode drier and better in the same conditions and I won't even go into how much better a Cobalt rides...but you fisherman are a strange lot. 😄

      Yes I have, on the St. John's river. No bow flair, with flat ride = wet ride. Prove me wrong. Run in a river chop w/10-15 wind, beam sea and show me its a dry ride. Maybe the one I was on didn't have spray rails? Not that I think it will make it a drier ride.

      @@ericbryant796 I charter boats as hobby 30 hours a week as well as captain for my clients when they want to go out..fish or booze cruise to the islands and I drive their boat. I just got back from AL poker run running a 40 Skater for a good client who doesn't like to deal with currents and those expensive boats around him. I have owned a 23 and 27 Albury and have about 700 hours of run time in many sea conditions. You are the first person that I am aware of that had a non-favorable review...especially on their 23. The spray rails do not really make a difference, it's more cosmetic. The only thing I can think of is the 23 was designed for a single. Personally, I always prefer twins on any boat and would order one like Jimmy Buffet 23 w 115's. Twin 115's add about 250 lbs vs a 225-300. Something just doesn't add up. Im thinking this boat was re-done sometime and didn't come out of the factory. Is it possible this was a storm boat re-done?? I can't Prove you wrong.. without me being there and watching you run the boat properly in those conditions you mentioned.

      @@Jassman3536 Fair point. I do know the boat was not re-rigged it was rigged from the factory with twins. It did have alum. props but as you know a boat will lean into the wind when broadside, and in the tight river chop the spray off the sides just got caught in the wind and we got soaked. I just noted the spray was pretty far forward and you couldn't trim the bow up to move the spray further aft. I thought it needed trim tabs. But owner loved it and that's all that really matters.

    I was thinking of building an ab23. However I could find any videos of them running through the chop to 3 footers. I have already completed a flats boat and this was the next boat I planned to build. If you could post some videos from a nasty day on the water that would be great. Also what is your draft as you are built light? Thanks

      I don’t have any videos out in anything rough but I can guarantee that you will walk away impressed by her seakeeping ability for a 22 boat. If you are in the central Florida area I can take you out. I couldn’t give you an exact number on draft. It is not something we have really measured

    Wet boat and extremely over priced

    • @NickOlinde
      @NickOlinde  3 месяца назад

      I would strongly disagree with you on overpriced. With current pricing they are pretty on par with other top-tier/high-end CCs in this size range. Obviously the Sea Hunts, Cobias, Sportsman’s, etc are a lot cheaper but they are also nowhere near the boat. You are paying for a top quality product and you get what you pay for. An Albury is a lifetime boat that you can hand down to your kids and they can hand down to their kids. I and many others highly value quality and and build quality and are willing to pay for it. There is a reason why a lot of people keep these boats for a lifetime. Not to mention they will outride everything else haha
      When it comes to the wet comment, all small CCs are wet in any sort beam wind. The Albury is definitely a low freeboard boat with no flare at all but I’m not going to argue haha
