    I had been investigating the Moonman/Majohn C1 & the C4 for some time, and happened to have your review come up. Loved the review Chris. Between the 2 pens I prefer a Japanese style eyedropper, and thus had ordered a C4 which should arrive in the next couple of days. Thanks to this review I have a better understanding of the size of the pen I ordered. Best Regards.

    That shutoff valve is essential. All eye dropper pens should use a mechanism to prevent burping. Thanks for a great review. I like the looks of the clear C4. 👍👍👍(wow 3 thumbs up - my highest rating possible 😎).

      The only downside is the threading is not Jowo or Bock as in the Opus88 pens.

    • @i.c.3157
      @i.c.3157 2 года назад +2

      @@Seefood73 Both are overrated anyways, the real heat are those IPG nibs. 😎
      On a serious note, since this Moonjuice pen uses a #6 nib, you can just pull out that sucker and pop in either a #6 Jowo or Bock nib, not every pen needs threads to be Jowo or Bock compatible :/

    • @Seefood73
      @Seefood73 2 года назад +2

      @@i.c.3157 I swap #5 and #6 nibs a lot, but not all are made equal and not all nibs fit all collar+feed combos because of length and thickness. Jinhao seems to be very accommodating to others, PenBBS not so much, the tolerance for thicker nibs is very low, and not all caps are deep enough for long nibs such as the Noodler's Ahab nib. Also many users are not keen on pulling apart nib assemblies like you and I...
      The one big plus of a #6 Jowo-threaded section is that most of them will also take a Pilot Parallel Pen nib unit without modifications, like Opus88 Omar or demo, or models of Franklin Christoff, and artists love that.

    That's an appealing pen. Though I never understand when the aesthetic choice is made to mix steel and gold colors. Choose one, make all the metal visible in the pen that color.

    • @yuklimka7251
      @yuklimka7251 2 года назад +3

      Especially in a clear demonstrator pen that mixing of trim colors bothers me. I might have to wait for Gen 2 which for me would mean more color options and matching trim. This could become a serious competitor for Opus 88, especially since the Majohn retails for a quarter of the Taiwanese pens.

      I have not had any burping. Any pen can burp, ED's a little more. Just need to practice proper care, Nib up until writing. Avoid large temperature changes. If you like the pen, want a large ink supply, give it a try. With shut off valve burping is avoided when not writing.

      As you may figure out, I find the fixation on any Chinese pen must be a copy very inaccurate. But these same people don't look at other pens that copy other designs the same. This is a very old filling system. Opus 88 uses it more than most but is certainly not the originator of the design. I focus on the pen in my hand & show that to you.

    As in all Chinese creations, nothing is random and everything has its own meaning. My theory for the two colors of the parts of the fountain pen. The internal parts like the silver-colored nib, like the moon. The external parts, like the gold-colored clasp, like the sun. Between night and day, clouds of ink immersed in the exceptional transparency of the sky. Thanks Chris for your other professional and helpful review!
