I bought this guitar from Guitar Pusher, in white! It was priced P9500/ under $200 back then. I've had 3 other electric guitars before and I consider this my best sounding and playing guitar. Playing some covers of math rock and midwest emo on it and the pickups are perfect for that genre.
Bought this guitar based on your review. Couldn't be happier. I have the three barrel bridge. Only changes I'm making are flat wounds and some brass barrels....for that smooth jazz tone. At least in my mind.
Here i am, having been watching your videos for the past year, but didnt come across this video until I fell in Love with the Tagima Stella DW guitar after one popped up in my Reverb feed. I thought someone with no experience or knowledge of guitars had listed a Suhr for $499 and I was going to take advantage of their ignorance, but seriously, what an awesome guitar brand!
Use the new parts to upgrade the Glarry then do a shoot out between the modded Glarry and the stock Tagima. That will drive the point home that when choosing a beginner guitar, it’s better to be patient and save up juat a little more for a better guitar as it makes for a better beginner guitar experience. PLUS, the slightly more expensive guitar can already serve you even after you graduate to intermediate playing. And by that time, you’ll already be ready to start experimenting with your own mods.
I actually just got one of these. They are really amazingly good. The fret ends were razors, but after filing them down, it’s a beautiful player. I also have some high end guitars and I can honestly say this tele rivals any of them.
Sometimes it’s worth it just to wait a year or two until we can get the thing that does the thing. In no way on earth can I afford a real fender bandmaster app but I’m going to save up for a few years and get one because they are incredible.
I'd say upgrade the Tagima, it's a better foundation overall as, from your wording, it's been built rather well and has an degree of construction that goes beyond a bulk factory manufacturing. I'd love to ask if you could take a similar look at a Harley Benton Strat type, at a similar price range they go above and beyond with the hardware; some models even come with Grover tuners and Floyd Rose nuts/trem systems.
Perf DeCastro, I am a fan since your Rivermaya days. I love Tele's, but sadly the prices here in Metro Manila are not so good. Thanks for demoing the TW55, it is surely worth a look, and Gtr Pusher is just the ither side of town, will need to make an appt to check the Tagima out. Thanks for years of great guitar inspiration!
If you upgrade the Glarry, chances are, you will just end up levelling it up to a Tagima (and have 2 comparable guitars). If you upgrade the Tagima instead, you (and we) will know how much closer it can get to an original Fender Telecaster with the upgrades, and the corresponding upgrade costs. Thanks and Keep safe!
Definitely worth the extra money, better fit and finish and better quality parts than the Glarry - and playable right outta the box, and she looks fantastic

Only them could do "perfecto" on freestyles but me couldn't do it huhuhu ....that tagima has more ambiance than your guitar on cheap guitar sounds pro, thanks for sharing!
Tagima is a rather old brand in Brazil. I own a 2002 Tele, back when it was still a more faithful Fender copy (you will realize eventually that Tagima guitars nowadays are incompatible with Fender style pickguards). It was also made with Brazilian woods. My tele has a Marupa body and Marfim neck. I ended up buying years later a T635 strat type from them, also brazilian woods. I treated it as a mod horse and it tolerated years of abuse well.
I just ordered a tw55 from Fatima from shoppee. Guitar pusher has no available colors i like. I ordered a sunburst and all they had was black left. At fatima so i ordered that. They have a hard time keeping stock. This will be my 3rd telecaster. Had the original fender standard telecaster, frets were rough and changed pickups to noiseless. Also had a squire affinity telecaster. The squire I bought used and it was better than the stock fender. Now i no longer have those guitars. So the tagima will be my only guitar when it comes. I had many guitars before but prefer the telecaster.
Hello Sir Perf, I Think you should just put the Upgrades to the Tagima instead of the Glarry because the Tagima guitar would probably what most people would buy. If they're in the market for a budget Telecaster that is... And for those who are, they'd love to see a Tagima Upgrade video.
I wonder how this would fare against the new squier affinity tele, I'm thinking of going back and learn electric guitar properly despite being in my late 20s and I'd love to get a tele that will not break the bank. Maraming salamat for the review Sir Perfecto!
I bought the Tagima TW-55 and mine has a 7.25" radius fretboard. Also, I got a modern tele bridge unlike the barrel saddles as you have. I'm not sure if they just made a change or if they throw on whatever is available.
I have two Tagima guitars one of which is higher level which has the alnico pick ups plus the alder body, it pays if you can get a decent amp to play them through, without doubt they are great value.
Planning to get the Butterscotch version! :D BTW, in my experience sa string thru maganda ang resonance niya although I feel like there's more "stress" sa strings. The ones sold in the PH now have had some changes as of writing. The string tree is the normal t-shaped similar to the ones found in other cheap guitars. Also, the bridge no longer has the ashtray-style cover, just the normal flat one. The saddles are also the same as those on a strat. Pretty disappointing since I liked the hardware on the one Perf has. Not sure if they changed anything else with the electronics or frets. I have played guitars all my life and I'm a terrible player, have to open a song book with notes to play. My Philippines son started classical guitar lessons at 8 and now at 16 he plays incredibly. He prefers acoustic guitar over electric and finger picking. He had bad habits with his picking hand and I worked with him. He is now at a higher level than most. Before you worry about pedals it's better to work your picking hand and learn the fretboard first. Do penatonic scales up and down the fret board. Learn different scales minor and major. Learn your chords. Find some small riffs online to add a little fun to your practice. Work the fretboard and toughen up your fingers. I liked the wah ha pedal, compression pedal. Buy a good amp it should have reverb and gain, clean channel and overdrive. Take it slow and when you are comfortable with picking and fretboard get some pedals. Wait till then. You can go online and people will show the effects of the pedals and you can choose that way. Beginners don't need pedals right away. Cool little riffs you can get online are sweet child of mine and some blues riffs. You don't need to learn the whole song. Maybe get 4 or 5 riffs and you might only be playing a short intro of the song but once you can play the short riffs correctly with the right notes and rhythm you will know you are on your way to being a guitar player. You can find songs that use only a few chords 3 or 4 only and work on them.

I'd say instead of putting your upgrades on the $89 guitar, why wont you just put them on Tagima and do another comparison with branded guitars with much higher price range?
