LA Doesn't Have Good Food? A Response to Keith Lee

  • When Keith Lee posted a TikTok saying "I'm not a huge fan of the LA food scene," we felt compelled to step in. We wanted to help him out and highlight some of our favorite restaurants recommended by locals in Los Angeles. We tried to offer a diverse spread of cuisines-- Vietnamese, Korean, Salvadoran, and Thai food, just to name a few. Even though we're spoiled with the riches of the NYC food scene, hats off to LA for the eateries it has to offer as well!

I went to ConiSeafood in Inglewood last week on your recommendation. It was really underwhelming. I feel like there are many neighborhood mariscos places that would out compete Coni, my thinking is this must be the first mariscos place you and other food writers have experienced to so highly regard it.

I agree with you, not all foodies understand local scenes. Part of the charm of eateries is its connection to the community and its other restaurants. Keith Lee appears to either skip it, or not at that level.

European food gets placed in different categories Ie: French, Italian, Swedish, etc but yet all asian food is the same? Get outta here.
