Why oh why did the change the line from "A viper is a snake" to "it doesn't matter to me". It was so much funnier and savage when Kiryu said that. Now it's not funny at all.
Because they used the localization of the HD releases as a reason to make the subtitles more faithful to the original Japanese script, unfortunately that means losing some golden original lines every now and then

@@dralakba-dusk31 that's what they said when the Remasters had their western release announced, hell the Japanese could also mean something like "I don't care if it's a snake or a viper" (I don't actually understand Japanese so I don't know what was actually said), in which case "it doesn't matter to me" would be accurate as well, because more faithful doesn't necessarily mean literal

Either way I'm gonna take a look on the Japanese subtitles and see what they're saying
@@dralakba-dusk31 I did say in my original reply that the cost of a more faithful script means potentially losing some golden lines, it's just an unfortunate thing that happens when publishers take a game that was already released and decide to "fix" what they changed between regions
Badass is a term that gets thrown around too much, but that's exactly what Kiryu is in this scene. Uninterested, unimpressed, and harbours no desire to punch anyone until they continually provoke him, because they're clearly out of his league.

Hard mode is pretty similar tbh. The bosses are more endurance tests than anything else.
Oh, so I wasn't the only one feeling that the damage you do in this game is pitiful and the bosses block too much

Actually, I have something in mind when Kiryu says Ryudo before fighting Rikiya, because in Y7, the boss is from Ryudo too, so, are Rikiya and Yosuke both from Ryudo family? What's the relation?

That part where Kiryu says "doesn't matter to me what it is", in the original Yakuza 3 I think Kiryu tells Rikiya "a viper is a snake" which was kind of a roast to the tattoo.
More Y3 remastered goodness, can't wait to start playing myself. :)
That great but one question I do have yakuza kiwami 1 and kiwami 2 if I buy the yakuza remastered collection do I find kiwami 1 and 2 as well or only 3 and 4 and 5

First as the one fighting against Kiryu, but in the end, he died protecting Kiryu, Nakahara, and Nakahara's daughter from getting shot by Tamashiro

Now all you need to do is freeze frame it and insert all sorts of effects and color tints and have Kiryu in a monologue saying hows hes about to end this mans career and the other Rikiyas reaction in how fucked he is, make it some jojo shit.
I guess you also know the AI tendency to quickly strike back after guarding your full combo. So you pressed Triangle afterward hoping for Tiger Drop? Usually would work on Joji, but Rikiya, not so much. So the best way to defeat Rikiya quickly for me was, waiting before pressing Triangle at the right moment.

I thought I was doing something wrong. Doing that combo with chip damage to pierce their blocking and hoping to attack their back.
Turns out that's the optimal strategy to get past every boss's constant blocking.

To this day, Rikiya is my favourite sidekick of Kiryu.
Yakuza 3 is the hardest in the series i suppose because of this fucking blocks.
Not only bosses but even enemies on the street are blocking so hard.
Oh and chase battles on legend after boss and long fight and you can's save. It's so fucking annoying.

I finished this game on hard yesterday and my God was it a frustrating experience I have to say, compared to the other yakuza games I felt this one was the worst due to the frustrating bosses and a low amount of damage done to bosses despite them being able to massacre you, mine and Joji where the only bosses I enjoyed, anyone else feel this way?

Killing off Rikiya is this game's biggest sin.
Did Kiryu get a new VA for the remaster? Or is it still Kuroda voicing him with reused dialogue from the original?
He re-voiced a lot, but about 70% is original audio.
