  • Hi,
    As many of you requested I finally managed to do a How-To diagnose a Flight Controller video. I explain the basic diagram of an FC, usual faults and what to look for. Hope I made it simple and easy to understand and if you have any questions please leave them in the comment section or follow me on social media.
    If this is well received I will make more how-to's on other components(ESC, VTX, PDB, etc)
    If you like and find my content useful, please share, like and subscribe.

    Lost live chat.. They Gyro CS pin is connected to MCU with a pullup resistor. It's always worth checking it. You can find out in the firmware source code of your FC

      True but that is easily spotted visually. But most of the time I found the gyros fail from mechanical stress (hard crash) but yeah, of course, the first thing is to visually inspect the PCB and check if parts are missing or broken.

      @@LivyuFPV I was just noting it to emphasize on the visual inspection as that resistor could of popped off the board.. None the less great work..Have been watching you for a while now.

    Great video. My TH2 board is dead with just a battery but a battery and USB will give me battery power to my motors. Somehow the battery voltage can get to the rest of the board as long as the USB is also plugged in. Without the USB plugged in, the board is dead.

    So my sbus signal stopped working. My goal is to check for continuity between the receiver and the pin in the MCU. Two questions: does this approach makes any sense?
    How can I find out which is the sbus pin on the MCU?

      HI, well i would check out the betaflight specific firmware for that flight controller and will show you a hint of that pin. Yes check the receiver first and after that if the receiver sbus pin has connection to the pin (or if there is any other component in between) and come back and tell us the results :)

  • @drdrechronik
    @drdrechronik 5 лет назад +1

    Another superb video! you just gained a new subscriber :) so this may be a stupid question, but where does voltage sensing of the lipo come into play? and things like current readings over a shunt on an aio fc? I have an aio fc where both stopped working (current readings first, a few weeks later voltage also read 0). apart of this the fc works just fine. I just cant seem to find an answer to this, does anyone here know?

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  5 лет назад +1

      Well current is nothing more than reading with a multimeter the voltage drop on the shunt. (the fc reads the value between entry point and exit point of the shunt. The voltage sensing is a resistor network that attenuates the voltage down to like 2v and the mcu reads that and corelates it to the lipo voltage. And thats why in most fc s out there you have a correction factor to both the current and voltage sensing.

    I have 2 receiver boards WJ-XS809RX(QYJ) of the drone VISUO XS809HW. On the input capacity there is 3.8V. and on the output capacity there is 2.02V. I think the transistor is defect it is a SMD with 3 connections en the description on the transistor is 54PH on the second board the description is 54QE. When i connect 3.3V. on the + point on the board it is binding .
    The second board give short but on the input capacity there is 3.8V. and on the output capacity there is 0.0V. I find not a scheme on the internet and not the smd 54PH or the 54QE.
    for replace on the internet there are many pictures of the WJ-XS809RX(QYJ) board. Someone
    the scheme of the board with the description of the components or the just description of the transistor. On the other place of the board there is also a transistor ML5 someone the just description? Thanks Marc.

    Why do I have continuity between the input and output pads on a 5 pin 5v reg? Reg output will read what ever voltage I feed the board. Current draw is only 80ma, MCU was dead, 3.3 volt regulator is working but can't find continuity between 5v output and 3.3 input, don't want to install a working MCU till Is sorted out. Hello, i crashed my quad and the antena came off the vtx. I decided to solder and when removing the vtx I ripped off the plastic connector for (video, ground,Rx,5v).i did a horrible solder job and when power on drone little smoke came out and led lights are not working anymore . I ordered a new vtx .ordered the same one I had and just plugged everything in but vtx not turning on or the FC not recognizing it . Everything else seems to work .motors and everything. But not the lights not vtx. Could the FC be fry just in one part or when it does it does completely and nothing works . Please any answers will help .I'm struggling .

      Do you use bec of fc to power vtx ? Or any other bec ? Do you power it by lipo pad on fc ? I see 2 things possible 1 burned bec or burned lipo trace :) go hunting :p

    To further discuss the gyro topic I brought up... How can i be sure the gyro is faulty? I read in a forum that it could also be a transistor which controls the gyro power... Is there a way to measure whether gyro is receiving power?

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  5 лет назад +1

      as I talked in the video the gyro and mcu receive power from same regulator. so if the mcu is working the gyro should have power also. Check if no parts are missing and in the software gui if you see any movement.
