I have found a solution! Put the hiboy on its side the click the throttle and wait for it to go on cruise control. Let it sit there until the battery fully does then take a look at your chargers port by opening up the dashboard and check for any damage to the wires. If no damage, check your chatger, then check the battery for damage. If no physical damage, charge your scooter up and your good to go!
I'm having a similar problem with my Kugoo m4pro, but I can easily tell there's a short in the set of cordage going from the throttle display down the stem into the body. Everytime I was turning the handle bars to the left, it would cut the entire scooter off. Originally, only the key fab/ voltage display was shorting out, but it "wasn't" cutting off the entire scooter. Although soon after, the throttle display began shorting out too and it "would" completely shut down the whole scooter. I noticed that if I held the set of wrapped wires to the side a bit (the wires that run from the bottom of the stem, out into the deck), that the short wouldn't occur. That seems to keep the short out at bay. So I just ended up duct taping the wires tight up against the stem and it looks like it fixed the problem... for now at least. No more shortages after the last 100 miles, so eh. I'm pushing close to 600 miles total on it now. It's been a great "small inner city" commuter for me. It's a little heavy, like 60lbs I think, but I love the longer range and 28-30mph top speed. Hopefully it'll last for a while longer all ghetto rigged like this 😂
Sounds like a short somewhere. Probably on the battery board (the board that regulates power going in and out of the battery). To anyone considering this scooter just get the Segway Ninebot Max (not G2). Its a similar price for a much better product.
I had a similar issue after 11months of very limited use. Contacted hiboy and they said the warranty for the battery is only covered for 6 months and it will be $110 to replace the battery. They stated that this issue is 90% of the time due to a bad battery. Online searches seems to be a battery balencing issue.
Thanks for the comment. Let us know if you replace the battery and if it solves your problem. Unfortunately, this one is not mine (it's my daughters), and I have not heard back about if she ever replaced the battery or not.
Mine started doing the exact same thing a couple days ago.. Did replacing the battery fix the issue for anyone? I contacted Hiboy via email and they said it was the battery. Don't want to buy a new battery and have it do the same thing.. I have had mine for two years.
I have little older model and having exactly same issue don't get it soon you plug into the power it come back on I'm getting frustrated because when your far out turns off walking with the scooter it's not fun
Mine does this, but when im at high climb angle and accelerating, its shuts down. So now i simple walk up the incline and then resume with the scooter. Its doing this because its almost 5000 km, and the same battery
Mine just shut off today, luckily it was a short trip. But I had a nearly full charge. Unless the battery meter on the display is wrong, I’m not sure how it could be the battery. It’s been fine for over 2 years. Very odd.
That's how it starts. If it's like my daughter's, it will just keep shutting down sooner and sooner over the next few weeks/months, depending on how much you use it.
Hey man idk if you have fixed it or not the solution is not the battery but its the cables that have probably moved when drove into a bump you just need to get to the battery pack there you will pull out and put again the cable connected to the battery i tried it on mine and i just fixed it i hope it works for you too!
Got mine from an old barn thing from my great grandpa for free doesn't work I'm open it up pull out the battery and get a new one I'm in the car riding back home from there 10hr car ride😑
I had this happen just a few days ago. Now it won’t turn on at all. I think the battery has drained too much. I measured the battery pack. It is only producing 13V. I’m trying to revive it similar to the xiaomi 365 fixes, cause the build is very similar. No luck so far
Mine does this but it does it where it will go to a random menu that goes from 2 -12 with brake and straight to 43 I have a video don’t know where to send it so you guys can understand.
Maybe a bad capacitor on controller, scooters use capacitors when they need extra power. The battery isnt able to charge the cap but the outlet can. Let me know if you have any updates on this
@@EricLaPrad question for you, did you replace the battery? Hiboy is telling me to buy a new one. Mine does the exact same thing and i dont think its the batteries because batteries dont act this way. A huge battery has to hold some charge unless its internally damaged. Let me know if you know how to fix this
@@EricLaPrad try doing this test. My battery was partially drained and it turned off faster. When it was fully charged, it took a while to turn off randomly. Even with the tests, the battery is probably the probelm. I tried another motor controller that i have so it cant be the capacitors
Make sure the power button isn't sticking inside the socket. Otherwise, as the scooter shakes, it clicks the internal button. I had this issue with mine because the power button was made with some cheap material. I had to kind of twist the button until it faced an upward position just as advertised.
Edit: Actually, in this case, a battery replacement might be the correct choice as the hud on the scooter seems to be lacking power if it is flickering like that...
I’m having the exact same issue. 4 years old but battery is holding a charge. All these comments about a new battery but no one has reported back to say if that fixed the issue. Did this fix the problem? Antoine who replaced the battery please report back.
