Dammit Mitch, start something! Youbare WAY too talented to not be heard and appreciated. Apologies just incase you are happy with what you got going on now but damn I have loved you since Now You See Inside, alor of late 90s and early 2000's bands have had a resurgence as of late. I am done not seeing you get a piece of the pie, and 1985 was your creation. Take the crown bro.
why couldnt i been born in the 70's n grew up in 1985..it wudve rocked..slayer.nirvana.metallica..im tired of all this pop fashion music..i want the real music back.. n i hate how he gave this hit to bfs..n bfs dnt even give credit to him in this...mitch allan u rock =]
well part of sr-71 is in cinder road a few others are in forty acres and mitch is just writing songs for every other person in the world. they are kind of busy.
hence the reason i suggested them to you. Both bands are on myspace give them a listen. both are rock but forty acres is definitly a harder rock than cinder road
They didn't buy it, the Jaret and Mitch were good friends and Jaret asked if BFS could do a cover and Jaret and Mitch rewrote parts of the song and BFS recorded it.
iRyan no they sold the song - SR was having a hard time with the label dropping them and nobody wanting to resign them. This is where Mitch got the idea of writing for other bands to make a living.
Yeah, that's how it be. I'm pretty sure this is the original version, and BFS changed it up a bit to make it a bit cleaner (least that's why I think they did it; and of course, that version overshadowed this one by a ton)
He didnt write this song, Butch Walker did. He also wrote Right Now, he produced Bowling for Soup's records and gave this to them after SR failed with it, SR only released it in Japan.
@@Envy13376 No Butch wrote it for his band Marvelous 3, the label didnt let them use it (since the label boss knew it was about her) so he gave it to SR, and it was used as a B side, then he gave it to BFS. He felt bad because they didnt make any money off of the first album he did for them, due to the publishing going to him, so he gifted them this song and others so they could make a dime.
@@kikiki4592 no, you have it wrong. Reddick stated that allan suggested a cover of their song ad SR said Reddick asked for permission to cover it. Butch walker was the producer. It's clear as day and Allan is by far the best songwriter out of the entire group. The only reason Reddick is shown as a writer is because he did write the changes when he covered the song for BFS. SR released Here we go again and wasn't getting picked up by labels and thats when they got the idea to release it to BFS.
@@Envy13376 Allan is a liar. Butch wrote the song. The old demos of the M3 version are out there. Butch is still one of the biggest songwriters out here, and Allan, well he is doing 9-5
LMAO well okay I guess working with the biggest pop artists is a 9-5 job. you clearly have a hard on for Butch. show me an interview where Butch confirms this.
mitch wrote it and bfs made their version of it, idk if sr 71 ever played it as a band i dont think that they did so technelly the bfs is the original.
I love "1985". Iconic song.
Whoa.. I didnt know til today that this is the band that wrote this song not Bowling For Soup all these years..
It's funny, seems like all the west coaster's think this is a Bowling For Soup song, while everyone on the East coast knows it as SR-71's song.
Or southers (Texas)
I just found out today on Reddit, was totally surprised. I like this version better. He sounds awesomeness live!
They ripped man
this guy is pretty cool
This was the first time I ever heard Mitch Allan sing. Seems fitting that Bowling For Soup covered this one seeing as Jaret Reddick sounds like Mitch.
Thank you for realizing that XD
He’s buddy’s with them and updated the song for BFS
I love both versions
man it sucks SR 71 is not as famous as some other bands, i think they're really good ,they should start a new album..
both versions are great
Mitch is the one who create this song
I saw that tour in 2001. SR-71, Nine Days and Vertical Horizon. Great tour.
I missed that one (great bands), but saw SR-71 with Stroke 9, Splender, & Dakona. Another good tour.
When the older generation looked back at 1985, now most of us look back on 1995 or even 2005.. Time flies by so fast.
Man, I miss early 2000. I'm only 16 but I still miss it. :(
Joseph Percy how does it feel to be 20???
Time flies fast.
Carpediem...
What’s it like being 21?
@@morganpaige4552 nobody likes you when you're 23
@mkjo miss the good ol days of SR-71
Used to see him in about 1990-91 with Honor Among Thieves at the Paragon in College Park, MD! Think he may not have even been 21 then!
who cares about who played it first, Mitch aces this one the best!
thats my 'uncle' he used to watch me in the studio wen i was born in between recording with sr-71
thats hecka cool
Happy birthday!
Where's the rest of this set? Mitch Allan is phenomenal!
amo esta bandaaa
Magic
Come on guys. He said it in the video. He wrote the song, not SR-71. And BFS used it/bought it.
he is great friends with BFS and figured they'd do it justice. he was right
SR-71 actually recorded a version first
The punk version I like the sound of better, but this one rules too and it's cool to here it from the original artist.
yes they did, i dont know what cd its from but have the sr 71 studio version on my phone
wow
i had no idea he had any part of this song lol
but i always thought that BFS and mitch sounded similar
i love both versions!!!
ok ill give them a listen, thanks
I remember my wife dragging me too see her boy Bon Jovi and sr71 opened in Atlanta. I thought they were killer.

Wonder if Mitch can still sing this well 🤔
THE RUBBER BROKE!
It seems as if his singing about Kelly Hu, I know they've been together for quiet a while..

what cinder road and forty acres? are they bands or something?
@MusicG33kBandFreak
I prob shud hav said "most". didn't mean to say "all"
same :)
@mkjo Probably because Sr-71 from Baltimore ;)
Aha there are bits when his voice sounds like Jarets :P
I love Bowling for soup but I prefer this version I can't believe I just said that Jaret don't make Chris sit on me
They should of been more famous than bowling for soup but that's just imo
2024?
Remember it's a live
yeah you know guitars, drums, music?
yes they did bowling for soup bought it from them

@@Envy13376 Really ??? Well that seems legit since SR 71 didn't have a lot of success after one or two hit songs....
they redid this song, sr 71 originally did it
the gay stuff in the original version was cool
whoes song is this bowling for soup or SR-71?
Mitch Allan, who was the lead singer of SR-71, wrote the song.
@@Lioness006 then sr 71 didn't make it popular? This song is known by bowling for soup

No
No
Lyrics are a bit different from bfs version
Yeah, that's how it be. I'm pretty sure this is the original version, and BFS changed it up a bit to make it a bit cleaner (least that's why I think they did it; and of course, that version overshadowed this one by a ton)
sr71 was better than BFS...
and this mitch play this song a lot better!!!
Bfs is way better these guys blow my ass
im not dumb ok , i didnt know those bands...
no SR-71 did play it first
i like how they changed the lyrics a little
This is the original. Bfs changed the lyrics
MITCH!!!!!
Are you kidding? George Michael
does anybody know who the george he is talking about refers to?
"never knew george was gay..."
TheTorminator George Michael
He didnt write this song, Butch Walker did. He also wrote Right Now, he produced Bowling for Soup's records and gave this to them after SR failed with it, SR only released it in Japan.
SR wrote it but couldn’t get a label to sign it, so he sold the rights to BFS. That’s why they released the album in Japan under crown records

No
BFS did it better
Yes
No
Definitely not
the BFS version is great but saying they did it better is a moot point because this man wrote the song
I think his voice kinda sucks..it gets all whiney when he goes higher...
This live version is rubbish.
