kara dioguardi is AWESOME!!!! she's one of my favorite songwriters. i was introduced to her work because i am a HUGE celine dion fan. i'm always interested in songwriters, so i googled her, and i've been a fan a fan ever since!!!
To see someone put out this much raw emotion, not having a mic and just belting it out separates the real singers from the wannabes. She makes us feel what she feels when she sings it and that's hard to do. Kara is a awesome singer, and even if you don't like her style of music you can't deny the singer. Anyone who says otherwise is just being mean or jealous.
Just watching American Idol with this new judge and decided to hop on U TUBE to see how she sings. WOW....I'm glad she is now one of the judges who has real tallent and the ONLY judge out of the four who can REALLY sing. It takes TRUE tallent to see REAL tallent!! You rock Kara!! Not to mention a great song writer and producer while looking at your credentials. I see you as the true talent/advisor of the judges on American Idol now!!

While kara sings this song great, Faith makes you feel like shes confessing her love and how she would feel if she no longer had her lover. Kara makes you feel like shes singing for a love that is lost. i like Faith's portrayal better.

Just a thought. I think both artists did a great job, just that somehow this version, with pure piano and guitar accompaniment sets off the artist's voice and emotion more successfully. Faith Hill's power of voice could have been obscured by too fancy music backgrounds.
