Children have to understand that when they are in the public doing performances, they will be judged. It won’t be judging them on their character- it’s on the PERFORMANCE. I adore the Lion King musical and have seen it off-Broadway twice. Loved the young actors and actresses playing Simba and Nala as cubs, loved the costumes. If I'd paid to see this and got a tone-deaf child shrieking while wearing what looks like a yellow bathrobe I'd be pissed.

Shame on Norths parents for doing this to her. As a parent your job is to shield your child and build them up, but to also tell them the truth and prepare them. If your child is interested in showbiz, and has talent then you get them into music classes and dance classes and let them learn. You DO NOT put them on a professional stage in front of paying people and embarrass them! I'm not gonna say that North doesn't have talent. She is young and without training. The difference between North and Miley at that age is that Miley is the daughter of an amazingly talented singer, and oftentimes, musical talent or talent in general can run through a family... sometimes different family members have different talents. Miley was also singing from a very young age and trained by her dad. Personally I think Norths mom is trying to copy what Beyonce is doing with Blue Ivy. But Blue Ivy is taking professional dance lessons and her mom made sure she was ready to perform before letting her. It's the same with P!nk and her daughter who's younger than North and has a very nice singing voice. She sang with her mother for the remake of one of the songs on The Greatest Showmans soundtrack. And she coached and trained her daughter in music and singing. They also did a song together called "Cover Me In Sunshine". She's also training her in ariel work. The point is making sure your kids get the proper training and are ready to perform. They're so focused on making her famous, competing with other celebrities kids, and being relevant through her that they're doing it ass backwards and setting her up to be shamed and lose interest in the performing arts...

Holy crap! I grew up going to a highly acclaimed public school for the arts. I started my vocal lessons at eight years old. I've known 10 year olds growing up in the ghetto with not only tons of talent but also a killer work ethic to go with it. Seeing this girl up on stage with no preparation, well, that was just cruel of her parents and the organizers of this event, and it's incredibly offensive to all the hard working kids with big dreams who deserve better than the opportunities they have access to.

My Daughter WAS DOCUMENTED AS Gifted and Talented as a Singer in Middle school... RECOMMENDED and attended the Conservator of Fine Arts at CSLA every SATURday until High School. A Very Tough and rigorous audition for Vocal training...then little kiddo who did the LION King around that time maybe 2006 was Killing It and was well deserved...He came from the Conservatory.

But people need to understand that is a Young girl and she didn't take jobs away from them when they indeed booked her for that role. Instead of getting mad at this child, people need to be more graceful and merciful because words hurt! Yes she's privileged but that's her parents and her fans doing. But ultimately, the adults were the only ones with the power to avoid this problem, not her. There's no reason why any adult involved - her parents, the show's producers, etc. - should have allowed North to be cast in the first place. North is far too young to be able to force anyone to let her be in the show; plus, since she hasn't had musical theatre training and hasn't been studying and practicing the craft for years already, it's impossible for her to be as good as other kids who've been "killing it" since an early age. That's why the onus here was on the adults to choose a different child for the role, not on her to deliver a level of performance she wasn't ready for.
To be fair, it’s not totally her fault. If she loves it, she should keep working at her craft. We should try to support that. Even if she doesn’t deserve such large roles at this point, we still need to support her and hope that she continues to work towards excellence!

I adore the Lion King musical and have seen it off-Broadway twice. Loved the young actors and actresses playing Simba and Nala as cubs, loved the costumes. If I'd paid to see this and got a tone-deaf child shrieking while wearing what looks like a yellow bathrobe I'd be pissed.
To train more, you need focus and discipline. This girl doesn't have that. Spoilt and entitled.

She had no business being on that stage when she wasn’t ready. I could have cared less if it was north as long as she was PREPARED for the performance. I was also looking forward to this being on disney + because they did something similar with Encanto and it was absolutely incredible.

I hate to say it, but I agree. Just because her father is in the music business that doesn’t automatically mean that she has the same kind of talent. People who are in that business usually receive all kinds of vocal training, dance training, acting training. She is fortunate that she was born into a family that has money & connections. This “Lion King” bit is just that.

Shame on Norths parents for doing this to her. As a parent your job is to shield your child and build them up, but to also tell them the truth and prepare them. If your child is interested in showbiz, and has talent then you get them into music classes and dance classes and let them learn. You DO NOT put them on a professional stage in front of paying people and embarrass them! I'm not gonna say that North doesn't have talent. She is young and without training. The difference between North and Miley at that age is that Miley is the daughter of an amazingly talented singer, and oftentimes, musical talent or talent in general can run through a family... sometimes different family members have different talents. Miley was also singing from a very young age and trained by her dad. Personally I think Norths mom is trying to copy what Beyonce is doing with Blue Ivy. But Blue Ivy is taking professional dance lessons and her mom made sure she was ready to perform before letting her. It's the same with P!nk and her daughter who's younger than North and has a very nice singing voice. She sang with her mother for the remake of one of the songs on The Greatest Showmans soundtrack. And she coached and trained her daughter in music and singing. They also did a song together called "Cover Me In Sunshine". She's also training her in ariel work. The point is making sure your kids get the proper training and are ready to perform. They're so focused on making her famous, competing with other celebrities kids, and being relevant through her that they're doing it ass backwards and setting her up to be shamed and lose interest in the performing arts...

Holy crap! I grew up going to a highly acclaimed public school for the arts. I started my vocal lessons at eight years old. I've known 10 year olds growing up in the ghetto with not only tons of talent but also a killer work ethic to go with it. Seeing this girl up on stage with no preparation, well, that was just cruel of her parents and the organizers of this event, and it's incredibly offensive to all the hard working kids with big dreams who deserve better than the opportunities they have access to.

My Daughter WAS DOCUMENTED AS Gifted and Talented as a Singer in Middle school... RECOMMENDED and attended the Conservator of Fine Arts at CSLA every SATURday until High School. A Very Tough and rigorous audition for Vocal training...then little kiddo who did the LION King around that time maybe 2006 was Killing It and was well deserved...He came from the Conservatory.

But people need to understand that is a Young girl and she didn't take jobs away from them when they indeed booked her for that role. They knew that child was not going to perform like Beyonce or other professional stage performer. She obviously didn't get the best training. Instead of getting mad at this child, people need to be more graceful and merciful because words hurt! Yes she's privileged but that's her parents and her fans doing. But ultimately, the adults were the only ones with the power to avoid this problem, not her. There's no reason why any adult involved - her parents, the show's producers, etc. - should have allowed North to be cast in the first place. North is far too young to be able to force anyone to let her be in the show; plus, since she hasn't had musical theatre training and hasn't been studying and practicing the craft for years already, it's impossible for her to be as good as other kids who've been "killing it" since an early age. That's why the onus here was on the adults to choose a different child for the role, not on her to deliver a level of performance she wasn't ready for.
