  • Lots of Cantonese learners always run into a problem of how to use final particles like a native speaker.
    Cantonese final particles are almost used into every sentence. They are not only used to express strong feelings or sudden emotion but also used to show speaker’s real purpose.
    Different final particles may have the same meaning but in different levels. For example,
    係吖 係啩 係㗎 係嘅 係喇 係咩
    Let's figure it out from this video.

    Also you should explain Cantonese frequent use of "non-words" at the end of sentences. Examples:
    Ah, geja, gebor, gewa, gwa, wa, war, Jeah, ber, jeema, gala, ha, lair, la bor, gor, la bor, baleah, etc. How do we use these sounds?

      My recommendation...your pronunciation in English is quite good 90% of the time,but for some reason you have words were you pronounce them quite bad.There are also errors while you express yourself,but not many. You should have a pro native teacher evaluate some of your videos you have and give you feedback on the parts of grammar in English that you're not using correctly.For pronunciation training I have a world class dialect teacher in mind.If you want to know who he is please tell me where to contact you and give you his details.Otherwise I wish you luck,please keep at it because I see that you put a lot of heart into your teaching.Keep it up.Genuinely have the desire before filming every one of your future videos just to give as most value as you can and don't go into thinking about money and other thoughts that are not related to providing value. As long as you do this I'm sure your genuine effort will be felt by the people watching your future videos and your channel will grow and also have more clients that contact you for 1 on 1 lessons.

      neti neti Thanks for your long reply😊.Yeah I have realized that my spoken English is so bad. I think I should stay in some English speaking countries for a while. Once I think about grammar when I speak English. It will be haunted me. 😅I will try my best to improve it. Thanks for your feedback.

    • @encapsulatio
      @encapsulatio 4 года назад +1

      No your spoken English is not that bad.Just your pronunciation of some words and some areas that if analyzed by a pro English native you can fix way faster than just staying in some English speaking countries. Like i said for the 90% of your spoken English you're saying everything just fine.

    But I had no idea if all the different versions of “gaa/gwaa” but then again I’m from Vietnam lol

      Tito T I think both ak1 and ngak1 are ok. These Jyutping has been developed based on our pronunciation which helps non native speakers know how to pronunce. Cantonese ppl from different cities pronounce a little bit differently too.

    To Dope: you should explain why you write "nei" (你), but you say "lei". And you write "nau" (嬲), but you say "lau". Why ? That's confusing.

    • @DopeCantonese
      @DopeCantonese  4 года назад +2

      You are correct. It's because Cantonese speakers often change the N sounds at the begining of words into L sounds. Both are correct. N is probably more formal and L is what you will hear on a daily basis in Hong Kong or Guangdong. Especially for young people, we are so lazy😝
