☺️☺️Thanks for your support. I am making more Cantonese tutorial videos now. It will take some times to edit and upload. You could follow my instagram dope.chinese for more daily words and sentences too😊😊
Oh my god finally!! I have been always struggling with 語氣 both in Cantonese and Mandarin. (Especially in Cantonese) I know that there are a lot more so would love to learn them more from you!! :)
Perfect video thank you, not knowing the proper use of these particles along with the tones is humbling for me as i try to practice aloud, this helps alot its all context..
Learning particles definitely one of those areas where you need to watch, listen to or read a lot of content to "get it". As I understand, there are a lot of particles, not just the few shown here!
Wow, this is such a useful video- thanks Gloria. Can I ask you if 吖 is a simplified or traditional character. I guess a lot of cantonese words like 嘅 has no simplified version.
I was not careful about checking tones in my early videos 😢The first one 呀/啊/吖 has two pronunciation aa1 and aa3. aa3 is more common than aa1. I meaned aa3 on this video. I will mention aa1 more in next video of tones
Also you should explain Cantonese frequent use of "non-words" at the end of sentences. Examples: Ah, geja, gebor, gewa, gwa, wa, war, Jeah, ber, jeema, gala, ha, lair, la bor, gor, la bor, baleah, etc. How do we use these sounds?
I’ve always pronounced “lie” as “ngaaack” and right as “gnaam” rather than “aack” and “aam” But I had no idea if all the different versions of “gaa/gwaa” but then again I’m from Vietnam lol
Tito T I think both ak1 and ngak1 are ok. These Jyutping has been developed based on our pronunciation which helps non native speakers know how to pronunce. Cantonese ppl from different cities pronounce a little bit differently too.
Dope Chinese with Gloria I have family in Hong Kong amd another one I’ve noticed is “wor” amd “bor” it’s fascinating to see how language evolves and changes. My grandparents left China nearly 100 yrs ago.
You are correct. It's because Cantonese speakers often change the N sounds at the begining of words into L sounds. Both are correct. N is probably more formal and L is what you will hear on a daily basis in Hong Kong or Guangdong. Especially for young people, we are so lazy😝
@@DopeCantonese Thanks for your explanation. May I suggest you explain that in your video to students so they don't get confused when they hear Cantonese people say "nei", but you teach them to say "lei".
Being real honest. I am watching this video just cause I cant find anything else that gives me example sentences and thier characters. The font chosen for the chinese characters in this video is really bad. Half the characters I know are incomplete in this font. Please share a new video which has better fonts and shows the characters accurately.
this video was made almost 4 years ago. I always want to remake this topic. But we can't judge the one that spent hours and tried her best to make this video four years ago in our current mind🤗. I have no idea why I chose this font at that month though😆
I have the honor of being your 600th subscriber.Still it's a bit weird that you don't have more subscribers since you seem to put a lot of effort on your channel content+you're very lucky to be so attractive. I see so many very attractive women that have super mediocre content but they have large number of subscribers just because how good looking they are. You have best of both worlds and still youtube is not giving you more exposure.Weird indeed.
neti neti 😊Thanks for helping me achieve the goal of 600 subscribers🥳🥳I was waiting for it this week. Thanks for your positive words. All thoese endless nights are worthy😊I think I don't know how to promote my channel so well😅and I don't have lots of friends on facebook and twitter. However, you found me🙌🏻🙌🏻
My recommendation...your pronunciation in English is quite good 90% of the time, but for some reason you have words were you pronounce them quite bad. There are also errors while you express yourself, but not many. You should have a pro native teacher evaluate some of your videos you have and give you feedback on the parts of grammar in English that you're not using correctly. For pronunciation training I have a world class dialect teacher in mind.If you want to know who he is please tell me where to contact you and give you his details.Otherwise I wish you luck, please keep at it because I see that you put a lot of heart into your teaching.Keep it up.Genuinely have the desire before filming every one of your future videos just to give as most value as you can and don't go into thinking about money and other thoughts that are not related to providing value. As long as you do this I'm sure your genuine effort will be felt by the people watching your future videos and your channel will grow and also have more clients that contact you for 1 on 1 lessons.
neti neti Thanks for your long reply😊.Yeah I have realized that my spoken English is so bad. I think I should stay in some English speaking countries for a while. Once I think about grammar when I speak English. It will be haunted me. 😅I will try my best to improve it. Thanks for your feedback.
No your spoken English is not that bad.Just your pronunciation of some words and some areas that if analyzed by a pro English native you can fix way faster than just staying in some English speaking countries. Like i said for the 90% of your spoken English you're saying everything just fine.
@@DopeCantonese that would be a glorious option indeed :) But I do it as a hobby for fun. If I needed and had to learn it fast I would invest my money in that and it would be you to deserve them. Take me as a bystander who likes asia (many aspects), HK, like to meet new ppl,... and just walks by :) If i really manage to be more than a beginer, i will send a donation anyway as a thanks for your work. You are doing a great job, those videos are really good quality.
Thank you for your videos, I really struggle finding Cantonese learning materials on RUclips 💕

Hello, Jonz ~ thanks for your support 😊

This is so good! It helps a lot, Thank you Gloria!

You could buy my jyutping material which includes tones learning

lots of words don't have two versions in writing.😅
@@DopeCantonese Many thanks for explaining!

New video?! 真係㗎?!🥳👍
Hello Tyler. 係吖~你近排点吖?
Hi... You look great. I like your video.
chen chen thank you Chen Chen 😘
Hi Gloria, I am wondering about the tone of the first interjection ah1. I feel it’s like the second one gwa3, therefore, shall it be actually ah3?
I was not careful about checking tones in my early videos 😢The first one 呀/啊/吖 has two pronunciation aa1 and aa3. aa3 is more common than aa1. I meaned aa3 on this video. I will mention aa1 more in next video of tones
I found the possible traditional character 啊 ? Is this the same as 吖
no, actually these two are just final particles and their simplified and traditional one are still them
I really like the way you teach cantonese, also your English is very fluent 😘
Thank you ~~~ Actually, it's not😞I wish my english could get better
I am in Huaikwang Bangkok 🇹🇭
I have moved back to China already😅
Can I ask do you live in China or Hongkong because you use sinplified Chinese characters. Thanks.
Hello, Lucia. I am from Guangdong, China.
@@DopeCantonese I see. Thanks for your lessons.
I wasn't aware of the fact I use some of these when I speak Cantonese 🧐
Well done~ There are more final particles!!
i watch this over and over when i need to remember the particle usage

yes indeed. That's why i want to make these videos to keep those interesting Cantonese alive.
Dope Chinese with Gloria yes the final particle. I’ve always said “wor” whereas they would say “bor” I haven’t really taken much notice till now.
awesome
up讲得很好,学到了!感觉学习粤语的外国人要比本国人多出不少🤔
鳴人地方 对啊!国内也有很多啦,只是认真学的可能不多。
Don't forget to practice "v" sound. Example: "Video", not "Wideo". Don't use "w" to substitute for "v". "V" sounds like "f" .
It's amazing how useful your videos are!!! But I can't help noticing the terribly beautiful woman you are. Thanks, Gloria!
老師你真好靚呀😊
hah 係咩,多谢呀~😊
係呀。有空來柬埔寨玩呀😊
Vong Sochin 好呀!有机会!
To Dope: you should explain why you write "nei" (你), but you say "lei". And you write "nau" (嬲), but you say "lau". Why ? That's confusing.
You are correct. It's because Cantonese speakers often change the N sounds at the begining of words into L sounds. Both are correct. N is probably more formal and L is what you will hear on a daily basis in Hong Kong or Guangdong. Especially for young people, we are so lazy😝
