I have a food pantry and know first hand about the $90,000 trucks and suv that people claiming to be “low income” drive to pick up free food. No, they didn’t borrow it. No, they didn’t just lose a job. These same people drive their high dollar cars every month and report zero income just to get free food. I see them in all the free food lines in town. That IS their job-to go to every free food event in the county. They turn around and sell it. That’s the scam and no one will let us verify income. If we try, and believe me we have, we are told we are not allowed to verify. All Food pantries have to accept verbal statements less we “offend “ anyone. I just put my house for sale. My neighbor told his brother about our house because his brother wants to move next to him and he is downsizing . He is a single guy living in a huge house twice our size with a mother in law suite. He came to see our house with a realtor and he complained that our home is too small for him. A 3 bedroom 2 bath 1,800 square ft home where 2 adults, two children and a dog live is too small for a single guy??? People are crazy. I am under the suspicion that they just wanted to come home to snoop around. Effing weirdos.
I was in a store with my son to get him some running shoes. There were cutoff sweatpants in the store, with a famous brand on them, for $47. We laughed and laughed. We buy whole sweatpants for $5 a pair, and cut them off when they get holes. I made an entire quilt out of cut off sweatpants legs, which he took to college.

We were able to get off foodstamps last year, it's been 7 months. We also stopped going to food banks over 2 years ago, it can be done, you can lift yourself up and out of poverty (that's what I just did for my husband and I) we are now considered lower income and I'm extremely happy for us. We both grew up on welfare so to break the cycle for both of us is awesome.
I have a worthless degree, 5 years of teaching and sociology. The 90s version of gender studies. Worthless. I'm 55, still paying for my student loans. And I hardly borrowed anything. Very little. Worked full time and went to school full time. SCAM
Almost a year ago I decided to change my eating habits and clean up my life. I started intermittent fasting, through the whole past year as I stopped over consuming food I started realizing that it applied to my life as a whole. What I see now is we are so surrounded by messages to consume it's sickening, consume food, clothes, cars, jewelry, items, expensive stores, dollar stores, consume consume consume. It's maddening.
Where do you live? Here in the Norteast things are booming and we can't get enough workers. Don't bother going to college.. they are begging for plumbers and skilled blue collar workers.
It may seem that way as people are depressed, but they also don’t have the work ethic of past generations. Everyone wants easy money. Flip a house, drive Uber, sell online or do Airbnb with little effort which is great, but comes with pros and cons. The high paying jobs are there for those willing to do the physical and mental work and you don’t need a degree either!
I have 2 kids and three cats that are leukemia positive. We donate to our overran animal shelter. They have crates stacked on top of each other and trying to not be a kill shelter. I love animals. We tried to volunteer at our local shelter for humans and they made it impossible to help so we went to the animal shelter and were immediately put to work. Much better experience!
Agreed. Also the hyper sexuual content. I'm constantly unfollowing people due to lack of decorum and modesty. Then the meanness in general. The hostility. I just don't want to be a part of any of it
I cleaned out my aunt's condo. She had a lot of my grandmother's loan contracts. They were referred to as INDENTURES. Isn't it interesting how over time the word changed from Indenture to loan? If folks acknowledged they were "indentured" rather than just having a loan would they take out so many loans? I think of all the folks with college loans, they are indentured.
I'm a retired Australian(retired at 52),when I went to school going past year 10(15 or 16 years old) was only for very smart people that were going to go to university. So maybe 40 children I went to school with went on to university. We own our home and car, have no debt and have money earning interest to support us. Over 40 years of happy marriage and we had no higher education to pay off, but both had well paid jobs .
I work for a food bank. Please don’t give up on them. Some of them have limited hours and are entirely run by volunteers. Best thing to do is look up their website, find out their hours, and drop the stuff off that you want to donate. From experience, pantry volunteers (often seniors) can simply get overwhelmed with managing donations even though they are very much needed.
I have really low bills. I live very frugally. Getting something special like a new drugstore skin care item makes me so happy. It’s the little things that we appreciate. People who spend money just take everything for granted.
I hear ya on people making things hard to donate!!! After my mother passed I had a lot of furniture that I just wanted to donate to get it gone rather than sell it. This company that takes furniture and sells it to people in need. They told me they wanted the items and then never came to pick them up and I don’t have a moving van, so I was like forget that!!! And now I am just gonna give them away free on Marketplace
Downsized quite a bit on a house a few years ago and I wear comfortable clothing. I dont care for big houses or fancy clothes, etc. And luckily I don't give a sh## what people who value those things over other people think of me.👍🏻
I have a degree too. Worked six months in my field of study. We moved to a rural area, I’m pretty sure most of my neighbors don’t even know what a botanist is. The cherry on top is that the goats got into our moving boxes in our barn and ate my diploma, degree, and my yearbooks. I do miss the yearbooks.
So I left my horrendously stressful job in July and found a great new one in Oct - less money but way better lifestyle - my life has changed. Today, they told us they have to make redundancies… I’m so glad I’m frugal - no debt and I have savings. I had two trips planned and have cancelled both. I’m disheartened but, because of my frugality, I’m certainly not terrified. It could be so much worse… imagine being in debt with huge bills and then thinking you might be unemployed. I have to focus on that. Thanks for all the advice PP.
UK here! I've been saying the same thing for so many years. All advertising is a lie. "They" have to convince us to keep an spending otherwise everything will come to a grinding halt.
That’s why I stopped volunteering at a food pantry after 7 years. Most started to complain and act like they were entitled to the free food😳my attitude changed so I didn’t want to be rude and left.
I have always preferred animals over people any day. I just adopted another stray cat that showed up in my garage. She’s beautiful. I’m slowly gaining her trust.
I took a "General Business" class in high school, and the only thing the class taught was how to apply for debt, pay bills, and write correspondence letters. In other words, the class didn't "teach" anything about business. It was simply a class teaching people how to consume as much as possible with maximum debt levels.
I have had to change my friends because so many are "major consumers " and can't understand my lifestyle. I live a frugal lifestyle without purchasing processed foods. I truly don't buy clothing. I want to look "poor" keeps me safe. I was at Walmart last week and purchased a shirt on clearance for $5. I am happy with that. I needed medical supplies and. Walmart was cheapest. My home is 1200 square feet. My friend the same age has 4000 square foot house. Has to have help because it is too much house. We are seniors. We all have different priorities mine are food, clothing and shelter. Paying off medical bills. My college degree got me out of poverty and allowed me to have a great life. Education is important that can be made by a trade school or community College. Does not require a 4 year expensive degree. I worked as an RN for 40+ years. Received bonuses of $10,000. I worked with 4 year degree nurses. We all made the SAME salary. Research before getting any training/education.
They create artificial need, which isn't need but want. My husband and I are super frugal. Old cars, no cable tv, eat leftovers till theyre gone. Only buy what is on sale. A lot of it is from your advice! Our very small simple house has been paid off for 25 yrs. Furnished mostly from thrift stores.
My husband and I live below our means. We are lower income and we do get assistance. We own our dream home (its smaller), have older vehicles, cheaper cell phones, cook every day, have no credit cards, etc. Many would look down on it, but we are happy. I like animals better than people too :)
i have two old cars. Both the same model. They both are roadworthy and basically are parts cars for each other. I don't have any bills apart from the normal ones. I don't owe any money to anyone. I learnt a long time ago not to help people. It's sad, but a fact that people WILL ALWAYS bite you on the arse.
Here is my frugal gardening tip. Don't buy plants or seeds to grow tomatoes , bell peppers, or cucumbers. Save your seeds from your produce and plant those seeds. Tastier and hardier plants. Don't buy bags of top soil for $10, buy $2 steer manure
I allways plant ,my seeds ,pips ect Cuttings I have lovely peppers and chillies from pips last year Just growing again now Allso got tomato plants growing from seeds and strawberrys
I am *definitely* an anti-consumer. I'm frugal because I like being frugal. I am also frugal because I *have* to be, as an oldie living on social security. But I LIKE being frugal first. Makes me feel like I'm getting over and I rather like that. Yay for all anti-consumers everywhere! 🙂
I used to work in a bookstore years ago and the sentence striking me the most, from potential customers was: "Oh this book, I have it..that book, I have it too", while I was expecting to hear," I read it/I haven't read it yet"... what's the point of possessing an object if you do not make use of it?
I also like animals more than people. Animals never disappoint!! Two thoughts on the oranges: Place them near the sidewalk in boxes marked FREE..help yourself. Also, when I worked at a school a neighborhood lady brought a bunch of lemons in from her tree. The staff was excited to get them and everyone took some home.
When I was a dog groomer back in the early 1980s, there wears three different customers who showed up with new pets after bringing their dogs and cats to us for years to be groomed. When we asked how or where the pets were that we usually groomed were, we were horrified to learn that the family’s had dumped them at a shelter because they remodeled their homes and the pets didn’t match the new colors of the home. What’s wrong with people?
Right on Prepper princess! People with big houses with large lots are respected in my family. The people like myself that have a smaller house and an ordinary car are not so much and basically they don't think much of my opinion. It is odd to me but that is just the way they are and I can't do anything about it. I appreciate someone that thinks deeply about this and you are right on with your knowledge.
Your life seems so carefree and comfortable. In addition to your common sense advice, I like watching your videos because I feel like I'm sitting in a peaceful home, listening to a good friend with a good head on her shoulders.
You and I are alike in so many ways. I survive on next to nothing also and am proud to state that. I am a senior living on SS mostly and through the years I prepared myself to exist on little as I am doing now. I dislike commercial tv and have not viewed anything for close to 30 years and am happy for that. (Cannot stand the commercials! Horrible brainwashing for the viewing public! Buy! Buy! Buy!) Definitely not for me. Thanks to you for all that you provide! You are a shining example of what one can do if one wants to. Keep up the excellent work!
Yes I watch RUclips and Netflix. So pay for internet, phone ,and Netflix… electric, water…no TV or dishwasher. Wear clothes until holes …have fancy for holidays. Invest young …old folks have to stay very low risk to pay property taxes. Save each day and spend only on the essentials. Having money is a stress buster.
Amen! I am guilty of playing this game for most of my adult life and I turned 60 and woke up! No longer! I downsized my closet ( I know it's not fashionable) I literally have a thrid of what I used to and am continuing to weed out things! On a spending freeze and loving it! In elementary school, we learned how to save and every Friday, the class would go to the bank and make a deposit into our passbooks. We also studied stocks in 5th grade. We had to choose a stock and follow it. I believe people have to educate themselves and not blame corporations for consumerism. They want to make money. It's our job to decide if what they're selling is what we want or need. That's on us if we don't make educated decisions.
Sure but they are deliberate in their covert ( to most sleepers who fall for it) manipulation but blatantly overt to us because we can see clearly whats going on...
You sound so grounded, even more so than before. Which was very grounded. Don't get mad at them, they are not doing it to just you. They do it to everyone..
The SUV/truck commercials crack me up. I can't tell you how many people I know who fall for that "rugged outdoorsman" marketing when the only place they drive is to the office. 😂
Unfortunately, the whole country has become one big scam. American's have big spending problem. Consumer debt is at all-time high. I hear all the complaints about the high cost of living and people can't afford anything. Then I go out, restaurants are packed, drive threw are backed up. In Target, ladies walking around with carts full of junk.
Back in 2020, my garden produced a lot and I had so much butternut squash (probably 150 extra after I took what I wanted and gave some to family and friends) that I tried to donate it to 2 food banks as well. Never got a response from either one. I finally found a wild animal rescue that took them.
I soooo feel you... I let a fella live on my Homestead. I provided a nice camper, one meal a day, and heads up on side gigs for him to have a cash flow and he put me in a situation I refused to be part of .. Disregard for the blessing he had and tried to use my disability against me... No sir, get out... Then I discovered every time I went to utilize a tool that it was no where to be found ... Long story short, discovered he was capable of being an amazing farm hand cause Meth tends to help facilitate things like that... My belongings may have helped to keep him in his groove, but now I am without those useful items and a couple years of my time investment. So trust me when I say I understand and emphasize your slightly pessimistic mindset...Keep being you!!! Continued Blessings Lisa Foggy Bottoms Farm
And barely any of it goes to actually helping the people in those foreign countries, anyway. Much of it is laundered into the coffers of corrupt oligarchs and politicians there, with some of it paid back to our local grifters in forms of kickbacks. This includes military aid.
I get it. I’ve tried to help people. Most of the time it came back to bite me😬. I still try but in different ways. I drop off food and necessities at a share box outside the library.
I should have saved more and invested when I was younger but I was stupid. No 401K, real estate or stock market funds. Now I live frugally, put every extra dollar into a high yield savings account earning 5.25% and do the best I can.
Love your videos. Parents push their kids to get a college education because it’s a status symbol. All for the wrong reasons. I did go to college and nursing school. I stand behind that because I’ve had an amazing career as a nurse and that’s the only way to become one. But I did go to community college, worked through it, got grants, and had no debt. I refused to get a bachelors or masters in nursing. I work along side those “more educated” nurses who make the same as me. They have thousands in student debt. We do the same exact job.
Watching this video and thinking how nice it is to hear someone voicing thoughts that I have myself. Thank you for sharing, makes me feel less alone in my thoughts.
I own my home and car. I line dry my clothes, wash my dishes by hand. My house is furnished with items fro! Family, thrift stores, yard sales, and trash picking( things at peoples curb on trash day). I cook from scratch. I don't eat fast food, I eat out maybe one time a year. I have Lost weight not eating out. I asked my daughters for their hand !e downs, I can sew, so I take in my own clothes.
We got out of debt about 10 years ago. For a while I was paranoid about getting back in debt. But then we built up our emergency account, and when we use it we replace what we used. I find that depression is a thing of the past. Mental peace was a kind of surprise bonus. We never charge. We do use our credit cards but the amount is deducted as if we’d written checks, so no surprises there either. I didn’t start doing this until I was over 60. Thanks Dave Ramsey, Prepper Princess, Money Mom and Austin Williams! I love RUclips!
I so agree 100% once you see it you can't unsee it. Most people will never have this awakening, blessing and curse at the same time because most people will not be able to relate and understand so it makes one feel alone, most of society are blinded my this deceit.

I’m so happy I found your channel. Since listening to you, I’m now debt free and only have a mortgage. Keep spreading your word. Much love!
We are past a recession. We are headed toward a depression.
I am just sick and tired of how people treat others online. It is awful. I find myself online less and less these days.
Truth! 🎯
“We need to think with our brain and not with our heart” 👏
I'm in my 60's. In my pre teen years I would hear people say, there's a sucker born every minute. Now I get it.
I like animals better than people is probably the most common sentiment among people.
I have to say it: people who won't get married because they "need" a $30,000+ wedding they can't afford. We've lost the plot
I always say I like animals better than people. They give love and companionship and never give me the grief that people do.
I like animals better than most people.😂
I have really low bills.
No car is worth a monthly payment. Save up, pay cash and buy a 1 owner, accident free, well serviced used car.
Thanks for your videos and reminding us of the importance of saving money!
I took a "General Business" class in high school, and the only thing the class taught was how to apply for debt, pay bills, and write correspondence letters. In other words, the class didn't "teach" anything about business. It was simply a class teaching people how to consume as much as possible with maximum debt levels.
I like animals more than people too 🤛
I have had to change my friends because so many are "major consumers " and can't understand my lifestyle.
🥳🥳🥳👍❤
My husband and I live below our means. We are lower income and we do get assistance. We own our dream home (its smaller), have older vehicles, cheaper cell phones, cook every day, have no credit cards, etc. Many would look down on it, but we are happy. I like animals better than people too :)
Oh yeah. I don’t blame you. I donate/ help to animals too. People are too ungrateful. It’s frustrating.
i have two old cars.
I allways plant ,my seeds ,pips ect
Cuttings
I have lovely peppers and chillies from pips last year
Just growing again now
Allso got tomato plants growing from seeds and strawberrys
I am *definitely* an anti-consumer. I'm frugal because I like being frugal. I am also frugal because I *have* to be, as an oldie living on social security. But I LIKE being frugal first. Makes me feel like I'm getting over and I rather like that. Yay for all anti-consumers everywhere! 🙂
I used to work in a bookstore years ago and the sentence striking me the most, from potential customers was: "Oh this book, I have it..that book, I have it too", while I was expecting to hear," I read it/I haven't read it yet"... what's the point of possessing an object if you do not make use of it?
I don’t get my nails or lashes done anymore, and hair only rarely. It really is a waste of money.
Started gardening as a protest, now I love it. I save money and eat better.
When I was little margarine used to be considered healthy. Now, it's grass fed butter. Butter back then was supposed to cause a heartattack.
As time goes by, science teaches us more, so we can do better with the information we get.
In the banking world, they call us deadbeats because we always pay our credit cards off fully every month and on time!
My jaw is on the floor..... Poor fur babies 😢
No way really?
Are you joking?
Right on Prepper princess! People with big houses with large lots are respected in my family. The people like myself that have a smaller house and an ordinary car are not so much and basically they don't think much of my opinion. It is odd to me but that is just the way they are and I can't do anything about it. I appreciate someone that thinks deeply about this and you are right on with your knowledge.
Your life seems so carefree and comfortable. In addition to your common sense advice, I like watching your videos because I feel like I'm sitting in a peaceful home, listening to a good friend with a good head on her shoulders.
I consistently remind people not to buy something just because its on sale. The elderly are pulled into that a lot.
Need or want? discovered that it's all about "I WANT!"
Not keeping up with anyone because few people I know have the peace and freedom I want! Keep on encouraging us! Thank you!
Freeing!
You like animals better than people! Well, my dear, you’re my kind of people.
Oh, right!. You like animals so much better, that you end up eating them multiple times during the day. What a hypocrisy!!!
@@violetagira8687 What makes you think so
In elementary school, we learned how to save and every Friday, the class would go to the bank and make a deposit into our passbooks.
Wow! It sounds like you had an awesome teacher!!
Got off grid cabin, it's Snowy out, tweedy birds are in a tree as I stand here 3 feet away - yes Anti Consumer ftw!
I had always heard the opposite, not the Oscar Wilde quote. “No good deed goes unnoticed,” is the quote I grew up with.
People think you are rich if you aren't struggling....... and the word Budget 😂 they don't know what it means
Continued Blessings

Thanks for saying, "I like animals more than I like people." You are my favorite you tuber. I have learned so much from you! Thank You!
Meanwhile, Billions for Foreign Aid !
And barely any of it goes to actually helping the people in those foreign countries, anyway. Much of it is laundered into the coffers of corrupt oligarchs and politicians there, with some of it paid back to our local grifters in forms of kickbacks. This includes military aid.
Preach Sis, I like my husband & Cat, We're HOMEBODIES 💯
"People" just suck 😒
I get it. I’ve tried to help people. Most of the time it came back to bite me😬. I still try but in different ways. I drop off food and necessities at a share box outside the library.
Where have you been?? No one is speaking the truth as you are??!! I am here for you!! Keep going! Please!!
I should have saved more and invested when I was younger but I was stupid. No 401K, real estate or stock market funds. Now I live frugally, put every extra dollar into a high yield savings account earning 5.25% and do the best I can.
Sometimes I need this kind of video to snap me back into reality. No I don’t need a haircut right now, a new outfit or to replace my furniture.
OMG! You are singing my song!
Yes, people are so unappreative and lazy!
My dear Princess. I call it. Broke people trying to impress the other broke people
Love your videos.
I like animals better than people too❤❤
Watching this video and thinking how nice it is to hear someone voicing thoughts that I have myself. Thank you for sharing, makes me feel less alone in my thoughts.
I owe, I owe.... so off to work I go.....
Yes! I love my dog and animals more than people. People always let you down
I own my home and car. I line dry my clothes, wash my dishes by hand. My house is furnished with items fro! Family, thrift stores, yard sales, and trash picking( things at peoples curb on trash day). I cook from scratch. I don't eat fast food, I eat out maybe one time a year. I have
Lost weight not eating out. I asked my daughters for their hand !e downs, I can sew, so I take in my own clothes.
but you had kids and had huge expenses then
Prepper Princess, you are gorgeous with or without makeup. You are beautiful inside and out. We are glad to have you with us.
I'm poor but I'm happy I could earn more but why I have what I need. But my family thinks low of me because I don't want more. 😢
