I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, learning what you just taught me, or, perhaps, your very cool accent, which I envy! Thanks for posting, this really did fix a problem I was having!
Thank goodness I found this. I only occasionally convert files from MP4 to AVI to use in LibreOffice Impress (Powerpoint). The free online converters are so slow and some don't accept files over 100MB. Thanks a lot for showing this - I've had VLC for ages but was unaware of this function. EDIT - Even though it's now saved as AVI it does not upload to LibreOffice Impress - 'The format of the file is not supported'. Ahhhh!!
For those who get a video with no sound: In the window shown at 0:16 in the video, Click the Audio Codec tab, and check that the audio sample rate is the same as the original, if it's still not working try a different audio codec.
I can convert and create an avi file that plays the video but no sound. Searching Google it seems many others have had this issue but none of have posted solutions
unable to convert a file into mp4 as it shows only sound not video and I am unable to do that in vlc media with H.265 WITH MP3 audio . How to resolve this
The first few movies I converted: mkv to mp4 turned out fine, but now - and the last few times I have tried the conversion, it "finishes" but the conversion is incomplete - e.g. in the latest try, I have 0.98 GB out of 2.67 GB while the conversion has just stopped before completion. When I click on it (the black VLC conversion screen), I get the message: "The output file already exists. If recording continues, the file will be overridden and its content will be lost". If I click on "keep" the file just stays at 0.98 GB {and is unwatchable). If I click on "overwrite", the same old sh*t just happens again and I end up with a useless 0.98 GB blank file.
In the window show at 0:16 in the video, Click the Audio Codec tab, and check that the audio sample rate is the same as the original, if it's still not working try a different audio codec. I had to use MP3.

try AIX Video Player in this 2022 where you dont need any c=video cob=nvertion as it plays all
it doesn’t work, is it because my video is 14 hours long?
