This reminds me of Patton's Best from Avalon Hill. Thank you for highlighting this game. Edit: I heard that you got the same impression at the end of the video. That's on me commenting before the end of the video. Thanks again.
Solid little game Gimpy. And I think you forgot to mention that you can keep your surviving crew if you finish an operation to be used in another one chronologically. The game just needs better graphics although not the superficial aspect but rather the useful portion of the graphics. I want to graphically see the difference between a tank, a spatg or artillery, and an atg. All those look the same, just a line and a dot. Tanks should be a tiny rectangle box with a circle and a line for their turret. The space should be like the tanks minus the circle. Spart should be like space but with a thicker line for the cannon or a cannon of another colour. Etc. If you guys like all those solo war boardgames, you have most of them as mods on Tabletop Simulator. Do not forget to thank the person who brought it to tts. Gimpy, I probably told you about it already, try Angola '86 video game. It is as if GMT decided to make video game instead of boardgames with their COIN series. 😊
@marystar1924 thanks for the recommendations and thoughts. I'll make sure to give that one a look. Maybe the wife can be bribed with shoes to cover my wargaming needs😁😉
@marystar1924 just went and took a peek at Angola. Yeah that caught my attention. I'll have to give it a go as soon as I can. I'm a little tied up with some previews that are in the words at the moment
@@thegimpygamer%his game is tough... Afrika Corps part one is very difficult. Long too. But I have managed to go through Poland, France and part one of Agrika Corps. Going well with my new Pz-IVF2... finally! My commander and loader are level 20 I think. Also, I started with a pzjager, but switched to the captured Mathilda in Afrika. Really fun little difficult game. Afrika Corps part one is brutal. I lost at least a dozen vehicles that I was commanding, not counting the others that were with me. Also lost my super gunner and driver from all the way back to the Poland operation. I play at +75% difficulty, focusing on realism but not ridiculously difficult settings. Hope you are having fun, ai sure am. 😊
@@thegimpygamer You gotta press Q or E on the campgin select screen. The Americans should start showing up in the Mid/Late war sections starting with Operation Torch and the Philippines. Operation Torch is pretty tough since the Axis have some higher difficulty modifiers to simulate how prepared the Americans were moving into WW2. I lost quite a few Shermans once Flak 88's and Panzers IIIs and Panzer IVs started showing up in hull down positions. The M3 Stuart was blast though, since you can fly across the desert and fire all your machineg guns at german infantry with the overrun attack.
@dustysandals5466 ah that's what I missed. I hadn't switched off early war! Awesome. Now there is so much more to play. I've got to make another video now😁

@@mikestephan1228 no worries😁
Its based on Patton's Best lol
Then that would explain the similarity. Thanks.
I love beautifully done ASCII graphics. That rain animation is a nice cherry on top.

Have you tried Armored Brigade?
@@RotorYoda1986 yep. Might even already have a review up on it😉. Well the first one anyway
@@RotorYoda1986 they actually just contacted me about the 2nd one so I might be covering that one soon
@@thegimpygamerThat would be awesome to see. I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the heads up!
I played this like 4 years ago and I could play as the Americans
I went through the scenarios and didn't see one playing as the US. Maybe I am a dummy and missed it.
-Yeah that's the first game. I'd say that it's the better version. A lot closer to Patton's Best for instance.-
@@thegimpygamer There's quite a few American campaigns, from Operation Torch to Overlord, and in the Pacific theatre as well!
