Great tutorial, just the right info there. Is there any more info on how to work with texture effects on 3D knobs? Would love to know more about that. This shows the rotation of a 2d object, but what about a 3D knob with rotating effects and photographic distortion? :)
I'm not much of a UI designer, so I kept the example simple. If you want to get into some more complex UI design, there are some good tutorials on youtube on making 3D looking knobs in photoshop. Or if you want to get super fancy you could look into making an actual model of a knob in Blender (which is free). There's also knobman, which should actually be easier than photoshop.
@@IvyAudio Thanks! Blender is a ... well... has a steep learning curve :). But I found another addition to Knobman 3D! I use Photoshop (or pixelmator etc) to create the stuff that Knobman cannot produce, like special lighting and glares. then I split the Knobman sprite export into a single png, do my editing and layering in PS, duplicate one sheet into a 101 PNGs (on knobs for ex.) and make a sprite sheet in a sprite online creator. Then I just paste them together as 2 sprite sheets in Photoshop and export into a new "sniny-glairy" sprite sheet, the perfected knob. So now Knobman becomes useful. It´s not really that advanced, but easy to use.
awesome tutorials by chance would you happen to know how to open a custom knob, made in knobman, in Emulator 2 (touch innovations)? Their "holes" feature doesn't work for osx (support said: java bug) currently opening a knob png will open the vert frame stitch and not an interactive knob.... if not no worries tutorials are great thanks
There's a nice little freeware utility called KnobMan for that, check it out: www.g200kg.com/en/software/knobman.html Also, a 3rd party tool for making lots of variations (like various colors, sizes, etc.): nknobman.codeplex.com/ You can browse through a gallery of user-made knobs here: www.g200kg.com/en/webknobman/gallery.php Also, there's a web-based version there. Yes, it has layers and is great if you don't happen to have PS/AE or want to go quick'n'dirty to have a placeholder :)
Hi, I'd like get this script but I just need to know that is it possible to export a vertical png file? Thank you
Thank you. So useful.
