- We collected our fridge and I was super excited (you cant tell haha) - I show you at about the 9 minute mark how to install the fridge - we chose the CRE50 over teh CRX50 because it was cheaper and I am a tight Yorkshire man... ;)
Hey Mr Yorkshire man…. Southerner here (well Northamptonshire midlands, but southern to you 😂) Just bought a vw T5 shuttle. Loving your vids, very informative in a non cocky way just down to earth. Currently ripping out the back seats of mine then going to remove the plastic panels and ply it out to try and claim a few inches room back. Will be watching your channels for ideas and advice (like your heat pump installation etc). Cheers for the great content

Did you get those crimping connectors from amazon? I bought some for my car last year from there and they were shit.
No mate, I got them from Halfords up at Guiseley Retail Park.... they have held well so far!
hi. i got one if these for my boat just need to install. wiring so is straight forward. what kind of connectors you use from halfords any pic so ive an idea what to get?? also when putting in mounting screws must you.pop out plastic caps before putting in screw or screw through them.?
Hiya mate I used the red crimp connectors (rated for up to 20a to be on the safe side. Then taped them up. Yes, you pop out the caps first (they can be a bugger to get out), screw your screw in and pop the caps back on!
Could someone tell me does the cre50. Fully freeze inside with the box removed (like the crx50 used to ). THANKYOU
We have accidentally frozen everything I the main compartment before, so I can say with certainty that it definitely does 🤣🤣
How does your fridge manage off your solar and battery? We're still playing with ours - 80ah battery and a 150w solar panel so we leave the fridge on the middle setting and have done for the first three weeks, only just plugged the van in to the mains this evening to give the fridge a blast on full coldness ahead of a few nights away
Hey Liam,
We tend to have the fridge on full blast while driving, then pop it to mid (or low if its not too hot outside) when on solar. If its a bright sunny day it gets put on full all day and we turn it down over night as its cooler and the fridge doesn't need to work as hard.... usually the solar charges the battery fully by lunch time (on average) sometimes before breakfast if it's angled the right way! No problems so far and had lots of off grid camps with it ;)

Hiya buddy, it was just a bad connection (some have low voltage issues or by using the wrong guage wire) I reconnected the wire and re crimped it and all worked fine
These have shot up in price, can't get one for less than £530 now.. Good fridge though, mine came yesterday..
Hi what connectors did you use ? I’ve got the same amber flashing lights inside the fridge when I switched it on .

Hiya mate, I just hadn't connected them very well at first... once I reconnected them it was fine. Also use a 20a wire as thinner wire can make it flash amber. (Just used standard red crimp connectors) sorry I couldn't be of more help

I'm surprised you didn't remove the bulkhead brackets. It looks like the bolts are still sticking out ready to catch something or cause injury.
I'll be honest, I was going to when I had my grinder in my hand. I'm so glad I didn't though, it's perfect for mounting the mirror, other accessories and great to hold the cab curtain on (with strong magnets) all the exposed threads are also very blunt :) thanks for your concern though bud
Can u wire directly into battery
You have to go via a fuse (or fusebox) first but yes ;)
How long does it take to cool - the first time you switch it on?
Hiya, I would say about 30 minutes to an hour depending on outside temp. (About 10 minutes when it's 5 degrees outside and about 45 minutes when it's 25 degrees etc) It also cools quicker if you put cold things in...

It will power it mate, you'll probably get a night or two out of the battery if there is no solar to recharge it..

Not the quietest bud but if you turn it down to low over night it won't kick in as often so won't disturb you as much... Not too bad to keep your beers cold ;)

So I'm in the market for a fridge for my camper. Been looking at this and the crx. This however being 100 cheaper sounds spot on. What's the verdict after 8 months. Great video mate thanks.

Yes mate, its no different inside or electrically, if you like the look of the CRE then save your money and get that one.. (I'm a tight Yorkshire man 😅)
