I finally got this through my head several years ago and haven’t looked back. Just go back and read through the dynasty ADP for picks 1-12 in each of the last ten years. The hit rate is abysmal.
Deshaun Watson is currently the magic beans of dynasty. Either you are fully convinced he is worth a lot or you can’t find a Dwight to overpay for him at his current value
Agreed! Also don’t really understand why the community is sooo down on him. When he’s been healthy he’s put up good numbers so health is really my only concern in terms of scoring fantasy points
@@littleweapon well for one he just hasn’t been healthy, and for 2 you tend to not want irl bad people on your team. I want to be able to route for the guys on my team

I did a 3 year rebuild, sold all my relevant assets for picks after 2021. League ALMOST blew up this off-season due to so many players not understanding dynasty vs redraft and I got super scared all my work was for naught. I got second barely last year with a 7-7 record. I will say it is super satisfying to play the long game and punish my competition into submission, obtaining extra draft capital slowly year after year while my team gets stronger and stronger. I'm inevitable like snake venom. Honestly just love the scouting and drafting process so I'm very happy the way I play although it's not the fastest way to become relevant. I would argue it's the most satisfying way to play knowing that I've prospected most of my stars before they were established. The ownership and pride in what I've built is a great feeling. For what's it's worth, if you have a dynasty league with buddies you know will last (which I admit is difficult) you do you boo. It's paying off for me with pure joy.
My personal philosophy with dynasty is 2fold. First it’s always take as much value when you can. I can’t tell yall how many “insignificant” trades I make. During the season I probably average atleast 1 a week. I’m constantly turning over the bottom half of my roster. I’ll sell this player for a 4th. I’ll package these 2 players and a 4th for that player and a 3rd. I also almost always like doing 2 or even 3 for 1s when it comes to players. I love opening roster spots. Add a player then 2 weeks later sell them for a 4th. Even when it has zero effect on my starting lineup. Take any extra value you can get and I find the waiver wire is one of the best ways to find free value even if it’s as little as what ends up being the last pick in the next rookie draft. Because you can always throw it on to almost any deal. Even if it really doesn’t make that much difference, it could be just enough of a sweetener to get a deal done. Secondly, with the exception of truly elite players, and I’m talking like 10 in the entire league, I always try to sell players when they are at peak value. Even if it hurts me short term. That’s why I’m planning on selling ETN this year. He may produce really well for me. Great. What could I get for him? I’m eyeballing Jonathan brooks plus in week like 3-4 or so. Hoping brooks starts out slow with coming back from injury and trying to buy kinda low to get the most plus that I can get. Yes losing Etn will sting a little but from that week on, who scores more points? Probably still Etn but that’s where the plus comes in. Also I’m getting younger and resetting. You do this long enough and it’s a constant cycle that losing a good guy won’t hurt as bad. Specifically at rb I drafted Etn, Breece, then bijan in 3 straight drafts. If I can flip Etn for this years top back, then next year or in 2 years flip Breece, then later bijan, it’s a never ending cycle. It’s building a true DYNASTY. Plus you are getting all the other plus to help build and upgrade everything else

In fact Taylor was the only player in this list who played over 60% of snaps in any week, most failed to even break 50. He topped out at 68%. Coming off of a major knee injury with an incumbent starter, brooks won’t start the season as rb1. And if he doesn’t score a TD, history has shown it’s very likely that he scores single digits each week. Even if he gets a TD though it’s statistically likely though he only gets like 50 all purpose yards. So yes most likely I will be able to get him cheaper then than I can now. His knee isn’t effecting his value to much now but as we get closer it will. He hasn’t practiced at minicamp yet. The longer it takes for him to practice the cheaper it gets

Help me understand. Drafting productive struggle from the startup means you accumulate value for the following year with good rookie picks while the league is very even in strength. As the league goes on there is LESS parity between the teams and winning gets easier in year 2/3. Why hate productive struggle ?
Because you are gambling on a young player to increase in value while snubbing a vet at that same price on the basis of age.
