Hey everyone, I need to make an update video because I missed showing a connection to the pump out. There are two separate hose outlets-one for the macerator pump and the other for the pump out. This is how the manufacturer designed it. I understand that this setup might not work in Michigan, so I'm going to do more research to figure out the best solution. I think I can add a valve inline to the pump that can be turned off when needed. My Carver had a Y-valve, but since this is how Bayliner designed it, I believe it should work.
A whole lot of work but it's coming right along. I've been working on converting my large shed into a man cave.I just installed a nice minisplit and got it insulated and wired outlets
I didn't see you install a "Y" valve. You will need that because you probably will not be 3 miles off shore on the loop most of the time. I think the Coast Guard requires that anyhow.
I agree with the others on a Y-valve... totally illegal in Canada and potentially a $100,000 environmental fine and/or boat seizure... you need a holding tank like you had on the Carver with a pump-out fitting on deck. Most places in the US don't allow it either unless you are at least 2 miles offshore in salt water (bays and large lakes don't count as "offshore" whether salt or not). :)
Mike, I am going to have to make a update video as there is a connection to the pump out. Apparently I didn't show that. There are two seperate hose outlets. One goes to the macerator pump and the other the pump out. This is how the manufactuer designed it. But I get the point that in Michigan it may not work. I am going to do more research and see what I will have to do. I think I can just add a valve inline to the pump that has the abilty to tag it off/out. My Carver had the Y-valve, but since this is how Bayliner did it, I think it will work. What do you think?
So I do need to do some research on that. It has a pump out line and a seperate line to go to the macerator pump. I need to be sure of the requirements. Of course here in Florida, it is no problem.
@@CaptainMike1965definitely need a locking valve on the discharge line. It’s part of the coast guard vessel safety check. Fines if caught without one even with the valve not secured/locked closed(tie wrap will suffice). No dumping within 3 miles of shore and the gulf is even more restrictive to 9 miles. floridadep.gov/rcp/cva/content/clean-boater-faq#Non%20Compliance
Hey Mike I know it’s gotta be hot in that boat in Florida, I just did a bunch of work to my searay I bought cheap, ended up tarping it and on an extension cord ran me a portable a/c unit 👍 got a lot more done since I did that
Hey bro, not sure if you seen it, but I did have a tarp during the hotest of days. When I shot this video, I had to remove it as I tool the boat to the water for testing. I have however, put a new AC inside the boat. So when I am working in there, it isn't to bad. I have that video about the AC coming out soon. I think you will love that one.
Be prepared: Michigan law requires that the overboard discharge be disconnected or closed off, and sealed. With regard to sealing, the statute provides as follows: A bypass connection, pump, or other device shall be rendered incapable of directly or indirectly discharging sewage into the waters of this state by 1 of the following methods: (a) Removing a section of the pipe or tubing that allows discharge of sewage into the waters of this state, placing a cap over the pipe or tubing that remains attached to the marine sanitation device, and placing a seal approved by the department over the cap in a manner that precludes reattaching the pipe or tubing without breaking the seal. To comply with the requirements of this subsection, the seal must be unbroken at the time an inspection occurs. (b) Closing a valve that will prevent all discharge of sewage into the waters of the state, and placing a seal approved by the department over the valve handle in a manner that precludes reopening the valve without breaking the seal. To comply with the requirements of this subsection, the seal must be unbroken at the time an inspection occurs.
NO y valve you will be doing river systems on your loop you are not allowed to pump black water out of the boat if you get inspected witch you will they want a y valve NY is strict about that and you must be able to prove that there is no posabilaty for black water to leave the boat NY canal-system the fine is not worth the boat or jail time they are very strict about it
No place on the loop will you be legally able to use that. I don't see you running offshore the required miles to legally allowed to use your macerator pump. Are you trying to insinuate that your intention is to illegally pump your black water tank out while traversing the loop? As a former gold banner looper I can only say shame on you.😮 Mike I expect a lot more out of you I'm actually a bit disappointed. 😐
Scott, look for a updated video on this. I have two lines coming from the tank. One goes to the macerator pump and one to the pump out. I see now that I didn't show that well enough in the video. Here in Florida, we routinly run offshore over 3 miles. I am not sure why you think my intentions are to illegal dump?

cool, you doing any videos?

Don't forget the Y valve. Coming thru the Great Lakes the Coast Guard will look to make sure you are not pumping overboard.

I had to let that sanitation hose sit in the hot sun for a while to get it bend easily
Yup, that is a good idea.

i did that job years ago...my discharge on the pump was 1.5 inches mike put in a t connector for a pump out its a shity job get it??
I didn't show it but it already has one. The tank has two lower discharges. One is for the macerator pump and the other is the pump out.
When is your estimated departure date?
August 1st.
