Thanks for the help😊 And just a little tip for the tarnishing, I found another video that suggested bar keepers friend liquid on a Q tip and cleaning it and than wiping it off with a damp Q tip (making sure not to soak it or get in mechanism) and it worked perfectly! My lock looks brand new🎉

I polish my lock and keys with a jewelry/silver tarnish remover CLOTH and then wash it with dish soap like Dawn then I’ll dry it with a WHITE clean cloth or WHITE paper towel and she comes out looking bright and shiny again. It takes time and patience but it’ll come out looking brand new.
I think I might do that next time. Thank you for the tip, I appreciate you for that 💖💖🥰🥰 Crazy thing is, you would think that the SA's would give you that little tip about our locks, since a majority of their bags have them. That's why I love this community ❤️
@@YancyWill you’re right! they don’t give you any pointers on the correct way of caring for the items. Just the other week, an SA told me to not store the pieces in the box. She advised to store them only in the dust bag and remove them from the boxes. Something about it drying them out. 🤷🏻♀️First time I ever heard that. I also never use any chemicals for the leather or brass. I only use a clean damp WHITE cloth with water only to wipe down the canvas and I never treat the vachetta trim. I simply let it sit outside the dust bag for a week or so before using it. The locks are brass I believe but I only use a jewelry polishing cloth that removes tarnish and never any type of paste. You would think that perhaps they would develop cleaning products or something similar to maintain the beauty. 🤦♀️Go figure..

As far as the tarniishing on the lock goes--it's gonna happen as the brass lock hits the air. Take the lock off the bag and use Brasso to clean the lock. It works very well! XOXOXO

That was a great tutorial! I was wrapping my handles, but I never did it so that it would stay wrapped. I think I was afraid of pulling too tight and I was never sure how much to wrap. It really helped to see how you do it.
I'm so glad this helped, believe me it took me a while to really get it to where I wanted it, I just had to keep playing around with it. I was afraid at first to pull on the twilly also, but it was strong, and if it broke, I would have flown back to LV, Lol!! But the tighter you make the knot, the longer it will last. Once you keep practicing, it'll be like nothing. 🥰🥰❤❤

Metal tarnishing is inevitable due to constant exposure to the air. If you're using your lock as a zipper pull, the additional moisture from your body's sweat and oils will accelerate the oxidization of the brass. Use some Brasso to get the tarnish off :)

I never try to use the lock as a pull for that very reason (oily hands, moisture, etc.), but i feel like it tarnished way too early. I believe the ideal length for a scarf should be at least 15" - 21" in length so you can wrap the handle multiple times and not have the handle showing. Hope that helps! The lock is brass. The reason it's tarnished. Frequently touching it to open your bag is why. Skin contact. Polish it with the proper cleaning product and it should be fine.😊
@YancyWill you're very welcome. If they are still brass, I know long ago that's what they were made of a good brass cleaner does the trick. I have mine that I purchased during the 80s, and it's still holding up. I always baby my bags. 😊
@Mrsquick See you said from the 80's, that was the good material and finishes, back then, Lol!! Because lately the new stuff, hahahaha!! But I will clean a small portion, and see the outcome, and then continue if all good. Since purchase, I have always tried to open and close with the other zipper pull, so not to touch the lock, but occasional touch and other things definitely will affect it.
@YancyWill you're absolutely correct. The new bags aren't the same. I truly want to purchase one. However, the struggle of knowing it may not last as long as what I have got me in a choke hold. 😂🤣

Lol!! Once you get the hang of it, you will be 100% skill perfection!!! I sometimes do only one, but I think it depends on the bag, and the mood, Lol!!! But you can absolutely use a scarf, or a men's tie....so many styles with men's ties.
Of course, my pleasure 😊 You can buy different bandeaus anywhere you would like, I have so many different ones, that I pair with my bags because of the contrasting colors. I have Henri Bendal bandeaus, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Hermès, I say just have fun with it❣❣❣❣

Thank you! It definitely is from the constant use, but you are absolutely right, for the amount of these bags, they should not do that. They definitely will because I have always had an amazing experience at LV, and my advisor has been nothing but amazing always.
I usually do have two for all of my bags, but if I can only find one that I like, I'll buy that bandeau still, Lol!! and put it on, but I try to use two. My LV Speedy has both handles covered.
I was considering using it, but I didn't want to mess it up. I was never given the advice to use metal cleaner on my lock, but if that works, then I'll look into using it 🤗🤗

That was a great tutorial! I was wrapping my handles, but I never did it so that it would stay wrapped. I think I was afraid of pulling too tight and I was never sure how much to wrap. It really helped to see how you do it.
I'm so glad this helped, believe me it took me a while to really get it to where I wanted it, I just had to keep playing around with it. I was afraid at first to pull on the twilly also, but it was strong, and if it broke, I would have flown back to LV, Lol!! But the tighter you make the knot, the longer it will last. Once you keep practicing, it'll be like nothing. 🥰🥰❤❤

Metal tarnishing is inevitable due to constant exposure to the air. If you're using your lock as a zipper pull, the additional moisture from your body's sweat and oils will accelerate the oxidization of the brass. Use some Brasso to get the tarnish off :)
Thank you so much for the helpful info, I'll definitely try the Brasso. I never try to use the lock as a pull for that very reason (oily hands, moisture, etc.), but i feel like it tarnished way too early. I'll try all the helpful tips, if in the event it doesn't work, then me and LV gonna have to have a sit down, Lol!!

I believe the ideal length for a scarf should be at least 15" - 21" in length so you can wrap the handle multiple times and not have the handle showing. Hope that helps! I did, I have two LV Bandeaus that I used for this bag.
Better to loop the tie initially through the bracket first when starting this. It holds better in place. Avoids slipping.

The lock is brass. The reason it's tarnished. Frequently touching it to open your bag is why. Skin contact. Polish it with the proper cleaning product and it should be fine.😊

@YancyWill you're very welcome. If they are still brass, I know long ago that's what they were made of a good brass cleaner does the trick. I have mine that I purchased during the 80s, and it's still holding up. I always baby my bags. 😊

But I will clean a small portion, and see the outcome, and then continue if all good. Since purchase, I have always tried to open and close with the other zipper pull, so not to touch the lock, but occasional touch and other things definitely will affect it.

Lol!! Once you get the hang of it, you will be 100% skill perfection!!! I sometimes do only one, but I think it depends on the bag, and the mood, Lol!!! But you can absolutely use a scarf, or a men's tie....so many styles with men's ties.

I usually do have two for all of my bags, but if I can only find one that I like, I'll buy that bandeau still, Lol!! and put it on, but I try to use two. My LV Speedy has both handles covered.
