Chante is American black woman singing i her usual genre. Also singing in a higher more comfortable register. Dimash is Kazakh male singing in a lower register which requires a bassier tone a d less pliable. Also singing out of his language. English enunciation is hard. But, he holds his own and supports her so she can shine for the contest. Dimash is also out of his usual genre of classical crossover. R & B is also more sultry. Dimash comes from less overt lyrics. But hes there for it and has opened up a bit more that way with his more recent songs. Put Chante in one of Igor Krutoys compositions. Not the right stuff. She sings in basically one register.. beside a whistle note. Chante would not have been able to match Dimash actoss the board...but this duet here with him has certainly done her well. Thanks for a most unusual acapella examination aka response. Interesting observations and thoughts.
Well balanced comment. Insightful and honest. I appreciate every word of it. I also liked the way they isolated the voices. The instrumentation had covered up the voices so in some places so it was harder to hear what was going on. This brings much greater clarity to their performance and I really liked it. I do vocal and Tao plays the keyboard. The instruments were substracted for copyright concerns. Less support for their voices but they still sound terrific. And thank you for the recommendation.

C’est lui qui a été aux côtés de Dimash en 2017 pendant plusieurs mois, traduisant tout et le soutenant…imaginez un jeune de 22 ans qui ne parlait que Le Kazakh ,sa langue natale, et le Russe. Ne connaissait pas un mot d’Anglais ni le Chinois ou le Mandarin, ni les us et coutumes du pays. Il était venu à The Singer sur invitation le seul étranger et le plus jeune des participants qui étaient des artistes établis…je pense que les producteurs pensaient qu’il ne passerait pas beaucoup de tours et il s’avère que Dimash a passé tous les obstacles jusqu’à la fin et a conquis des millions de spectateurs…
They both was helping the show ratings. she wasnt supposed to be a contestant she started as a coach and judge. the show requested she be a contestant last minute. do your research 😊
As far as I know, there are singers/musicians who are invited to comment on the performances, and they are not there to coach or judge, as it is mostly or totally the audience who votes, and the contestants are professional singers who need no coaching. As for Chante, she said in an interview she had thought she was wanted as a judge. I don't think she confirmed this was their original deal.
He's covering Teddy Swims song, so.... BTW, where is the music? The emotion to the song is only pronounced with the music. One thing about Dimash, he loves to flirt. His OMVs and some of his stage performances have ladies that he is very flirtatious with. It is so fun. Check out "Smoke" OMV AND also the Performance video. He loves making small movies as his OMVs.
The copyright owner oftens takes down videos with their content and so I had to take the music out for some good luck. And thanks for the recommendation.

Pour ma part il m’a fait aimer plusieurs genres de musiques que je trouvais auparavant ennuyeuses dont l’opéra, le jazz, le rap. Tout ce que fait Dimash dans des chansons est intentionnel….il doit présenter sa thèse en musicologie cette année. Peut-être que bientôt on pourra l’appeler Docteur Dimash…😊

Taking the music out kind of deadens the whole piece, cant really understand why you do it, can you explain it? The singers of course are harmonising with the music as well as each other. You even commented about the music, but we couldnt hear it! Otherwise there were some interesting insights from you in there. The stuff about flirting etc: its normal artistic practice in romantic duets. Watch Ti Amor Cosi by Dinash, Lara Fabian and Aida Garifulina. More subtle but the same thing. The reason to isolate the audio is that sometimes the copyright holder, Hunan TV, would request the platform to take a video down if it contains their content. I see other reactionists strip the backing track away, and the video survives! That is why I did the same. It still doesn't work at times...
