    It doesn't matter who or what we are. Around this big Blue Planet we can play any instruments,style and genres. Music is not prejudiced, Music makes bridges between nations while sadly Religions make war. So as for us in the Northern mostly isolated part of the country. We don't have no specific groups or AI influence. Only those who choose it. We just play instruments and sing all genres. That's all we do. I love all kinds of music and people with good hearts. Keep it real 💯. Do it good. HUNYA!

    I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mts and hometown of Galax, VA and heard fiddling all around me but I never knew that there was this adaptation of Old Time and fiddling music. This is such a great thing to hear and see. In this day and age we could use all of this type of education we can get. Thank you for sharing your experiences. We don't know this exists unless it's shared.

    This is great! Too bad there is no "love!" button here on RUclips - I would have clicked it for sure.

    Thanks for the background info Jamie. I've wondered about the indigenous influence and interpretations of the tunes. Enjoyable presentation, keep playing and sharing your story. Glad to see the oral tradition alive and well in you! ;-{

    French cree , Chippewa , my band the pembina band of
    Chippewa was disbanded in the late 1950s.
    My father said he was Irish in Dutch , my mother French and indian.
    ( Both cree and Chippewa )
    How much french , how much indian is anybodys guess ,
    Dads grandfather fought at Gettysburg for the union , moms grandfather fought at
    Winnipeg under l
    Louis Riel .
    When i smell woodsmoke and sweetgrass , and hear a fiddle playing , dont
    Nail my moccasins to the floor , i got to do the Red River Jig.

    This sounds exactly like our Cajun and Creole fiddle music here in Louisiana.

    • @BrickPa
      @BrickPa 4 года назад +7

      very similar. Cajun music is closely related to the music of Quebec. Don't forget a Creole is a Frenchman born in the "colonies" and a Cajun is an Acadian displaced from Fortress Louisbourg and Acadie by the British.

    Saw Ms. Fox with her father Jim on our campus this weekend, then at our Old Time Fiddlers' Convention. Fiddle music glistening with a unique magic running through it.

    Jamie, It was wonderful seeing you in Elko, Nevada at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. You played some great fiddle tunes there! I love your fiddling and you have an amazing style. Keep playing those great tunes and I hope we get a chance to play together again sometime.

    So cool! My family is from Ft Belknap and my uncles and dad were always fiddling and playing guitars. very musical and artistic people on that reservation.
    It’s been years since I’ve been back
    Like 2016 but I just miss my childhood at times and look up Métis music.
    28 years old now and I haven’t touched any instruments in over 10 years and idk
    Something in my bones just wants to go back and play haha
