Excellent well made Film Grizz!. Did the Chilcotin twice in the Sixties and once in 2004...so reall appreciated travelling with you thru it again...a most Beautiful part of BC
thank you for these videos,i live in lillooet and get to ride all of these dirt roads every year, ive seen a ton more of my backyard country since geting a dual sport and youve been agreat inspiration to me and m dad to get out on our bikes and see more of our back country.
Awesome. I’m just returning from the Vancouver island grand loop tour. You live in a beautiful country. Great to see father son duos out there. Thanks for riding along. ~Grizzlee
I loved your passionate expressions, words that I could not find but you seem to express thru someone else thoughts or your own. You were never alone for one second GrizzLee. Using your word and belief, that we may share"The Almighty" never left your side. Especially with them bears "Ha ha" Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your adventure. Yes a taste of heaven.
I couldn't believe it when I saw Bella Coola in the title, back in the 70s my step sister and her husband moved there from Medford oregon.I was a teenager when we drove up to Seattle and borrowed a uncles class c rv and drove to Bella Coola.Back then it was dirt road pretty much all the way.I will never forget the river packed full of salmon and the bald Eagles in the trees. We also fished for red snapper and cod out in the salt chuck. It was a trip will never forget.😀
With the exception of a few volcanoes , all of the mountains are remnants of massive ancient petrified tree stumps. Their jagged peaks are where the trees snapped off and all that remains of those trees are petrified boulders and rocks strewn about in the valleys and along the rivers.
I m enjoying your videos, watching Chilcotin, Bella Coola, and Nemaiah Valley - I think ill make that adventure happen, it would be a good prelude to an Alaskan adventure. I like watching you enjoy your adventures. Thank you for all your efforts. Kerry
I'm sitting here trying to encapsulate everything that I've derived from watching your video for the first time. Motorcycling is my passion here on earth outside of the Lord and His WORD. I have just sent your video to many of my friends even though they are not all avid motorcyclists, but I just thought the peacefulness and beauty that you captured for us on video would stir anyone's heart if they would watch. At the 42:16 mark and then again at the 49:00 mark it was confirmed to me what I shared with a dear friend of mine just a few days ago from Psalm 19. Thanks for the full effort you gave and your sharing it with us all. God Bless!
Love it, beautiful Grizzlee. The Chilcotin is a magical place . You can feel the energy of this place like electricity but different. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life.
The scenery, music, spirituality, and your commentary make your videos so enjoyably beautiful. I also like , on a practical note you are doing great adventure motorcycle rides on a big adventure bike and not a duel sport bike and vis a vis your not tackling single track on a adventure bike thus missing the point of what a adventure is all about. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind remarks. Yes, the R1200GSA is a bit big for me to ride single track... especially alone. The Chilcotin plateau is a magical place. Spritual for sure. Thanks for riding with me. ~GrizzLee
Thanks GrizzLee - I enjoy your rides too. My brother lives on Bambridge Island and I hope to visit him from Texas this Summer. In 1974 I got "lost" around Anderson Lake, BC - getting lost in that country still has wonderful memories for me. I've enjoyed my 13 GS WC and hope to see Anderson Lake again some day. Thanks for letting us see parts of beautiful BC!
thanks so much for sharing, i live near lillooet and i adore the country and back roads around here and all through the chilcotin etc, its cold snowy weather here right now in mid feb, but your video has me excited about spring through fall adventures ahead. thanks for sharing.
My most memorable spiritual experiences have blessed me while I have been either riding or hiking. Thank you for taking us along through this beautiful country. It is now on my list. Bug
Amazing as always!!! Keep riding Grizlee and i wish to you and your family a beautiful year, full of health and happiness!! Thanks again for bringing us alone!!
Thanks for such great videos to watch you definitely have a gift to capture such beauty that this earth has to offer. I've been living and exploring B.C. from kelowna for over 20 years and still amazed at what is out there. Please carry on with your passion. Cheers
Griz, having now caught up on your videos, I feel compelled to say that I just absolutely love your work. You possess a real gift - an eye for the beauty of the landscape and the ability to express the spiritual impact on the soul of experiencing it on two wheels. They really speak to me unlike most other motorbike adventure videos. Simply wonderful! In fact, I have since decided to spend some additional time in the Chilcotin on my way north to the Yukon and Alaska in summer 2017. Since we are near neighbors in Snohomish area, I'd love to pick your brain on some route details over a coffee sometime. Cheers from Steve…
Just what I was searching for... well-done presentation in my backyard and lots of info...contact me when you come up next year...I might get a few rides in on Hwy 20 this year...thanks again for taking the time to showcase such a jewel in the province of BC.
That’s cool. I’d love to see that picture. Great place to have some memories. That was before the road to Bella Coola went in?!? Thanks for riding g along. ~GrizzLee
Hey GrizzLee, thanks for one more excellent video!!! I watched 3 times..... took notes about route and points of interest..... Good that you showed a map!! Planning to have the same trip just leaving from Calgary... Kamloops..... Bela Coola 2017! Safe Rides, John
I would love to travel to this area of BC but not practical with my gas guzzling RV. So, always look forward to your videos of this region. Another excellent video ... thanks for posting it. Have a Happy New Year and stay safe. Steve
Happy New Year to you as well. A lot of the Chilcotin is RV friendly. Just take your time, drive slow and look out for crazy adventure motobikers :-) Cheers ~GrizzLee
Great place to visit. In the fall, the salmon are running and great chances to see bears. Beautiful any time of year though. Thanks for riding along. ~ Grizz
Fantastic video. Really helps me for my planning something similar summer 2020 - Vancouver / Gold Bridge, Lillooet, Bella Coola, Port Hardy, Nanaimo, and return to Vancouver. Working out how to make it as much gravel travel as possible and you provided some great assistance for the Lillooet to Bella Coola portion. Thanks!
I just watched the caribou trial movie with randolf scott, and I have been fascinated by that movie and country ever since. I sure wish it was how it was then...
The Chilcotin people use to travel to and from Bella Coola, we had a very good peace treaty with the Nuxalk I also heard that we would even go to war together. And they use to have mass dances where we would eat the magic mushrooms that grow naturally in the valley😂 I imagine there journeys were alot like yours to, euphoric comforting relaxing for the mind. Sounds fun great video btw 😊
Thank you for another adventure shared with everybody. This is so inspiring! Definitely I will try to get up there this summer. Maple Ridge is a bit closer anyway!
Thanks for taking the time and effort to create this and post it for others to enjoy your adventures in what looks to be a truly wonderful part of the world. I love the spiritual nature of your videos, it is so refreshing to come across people who really are inspired but the beauty of our planet and who also ride motorcycles. If I have one tiny problem with your videos it's sound, particularly the sound levels when you talk to camera which often are very soft or sometimes drowned by music. i really enjoy your pieces to camera but often they are almost impossible to hear. Please keep recording your adventures for us and stay safe.
I love this area, and always will. My good friends, Bob and Itha Pepperling used to own the Empire Valley Ranch, I would spend many wonderful hours, laying amongst the stars on my bedroll looking at the immense star filled skies and listen to the Coyote's mournful howling from the mountainsides and Hoodoo's each night. No better place to Study Scripture and feel so close to my God, as I did there! My Dear mother passed away from Cancer 6 years ago, after a tumultuous and hard life of abuse and Heartache. My wife, Ingrid our youngest daughter Kathrin and I buried her ashes under a Special tree, that had survived the ravages , harsh living conditions that it sprang from, much as my mother Rose did, as a tribute to her Strength and determination to raise 8 children by herself. may she rest in peace in this incredible landscape and austere piece of Heaven, until she is reunited glorious and whole again. Thanks for this journey on video. Cheers
Hi Grizzlee appreciate your love for riding solo on the roads less travelled. Truly inspirational. Which backroad maps do you use when in BC? Do you download them onto your GPS and or use the paper maps?
I mainly use the BC Backroads maps and I have old (very old) Garmin maps for my old and obsolete GPS. Some refer to the BC Backroads Mapbooks as the BC Backroads book of lies. :-) There are some inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the BC Chilcotin book I have. I see they also publish ones with GPS. These are new and I would suggest looking at those. FWIW, I originally spent a total of 3 trips out there exploring all the roads I could safely follow on my big bike before finding an optimized "Adventure" bike route to Bella Coola. I really felt like a real explorer back then. It was fun. I am curious as to what it is like now with all the fires and flooding they had in the past 3 years. I have not been back in 4 years. I miss that place big time. Thanks for Riding along. ~GrizzLee
Amazing video 👍 Heading to the Chilcotin this year. Hopefully the 2017 and 18 burns didn't alter the landscape dramatically. What was your favourite part of the journey? Thanks
I am hoping to go back this fall. I have not been since the fires. My favorite part... hmmmm?? It's all good. Chilko lake and bell coola are not to be missed. But, then there is carpenter lake... hard to say. It's all wonderful country. Enjoy it. It's like going back in time out there. Cheers ~Grizz
Sorry I know I ask a lot of questions but did you camp at the end of the tsuniah lake Rd on the east side of Chilko lake? I noticed you ended your day on that road and wondered if there are any places to camp there. Thanks again 👍
No worries. Ask away. If you are on ADVRider, I go by GrizzLee. Can catch me there and we can exchange emails. Yes, there is a campground on the NE part of the lake. The other end is private, make sure you close all the gates and stay on the lower road. The best place to camp IMHO is at Chilko Lake at the Nu Chugh Beniz campground. Be respectful. The natives now own most of the lands around there as of 2014. They have the right to keep us out, which would break my heart. Safe travels. ~Grizz
@@RubiKonAdventures I actually don't have a motorcycle so I'm not part of the club, just an SUV. Of course though, Bella Coola and the surrounding Chilcotin is a special place that's been a part of my travels since 2008. Would never want to jeopardize or limit any of the access to this beautiful area that we're blessed with right now 👍
I use a hero gopro and a cannon SLR camera. But, it's not about the cameras. You can capture wonderful experiences on a cell phone. The key is to get out there. See the world. Enjoy my friend and thanks for riding along ~Grizz
Hey Grizz ! i just want to say thank you for the wonderfully educating and spiritual paths you take us on in your videos. Absolutely tremendous. WHen you come back up here to Vancouver i would love to be a wonderlust rider with ya. I am hoping you can answer one question for me though! I want to ask you, in this video you mention a road between two lakes (one being Chilko) @ 47:40. Would love to know the name of that road or offroad route on a map? Not sure if you can find it but please do let me know. I hope to ride from gang ranch > chilko via Nemaiah valley > Cholequoit lake (somehow connecting?) > hwy20 Bella Coola. I'm sure i'll find some fantastic off roads but i would also like to learn from a fellow riders knowledge and experience !
Awe yes. There is a somewhat obscure road between Tsuniah Lake and Chilko Lake. It was on some older maps, but is mysteriously missing from many maps. It can be tricky to find, especially from the Chilko / konni lake direction. Be careful going on it after heavy rains. It can be extremely muddy and slippery. The road may be patrolled now by the locals as it is part of the settlement the from 2014. Please be respectful of the lands and the natives. Thanks for the kind words. Ride safe. ~GrizzLee
@@RubiKonAdventures Thank you very much for the response! You're a good soul. Yes i was hoping there was a road that would go from Nu Chugh Beniz campsite north connecting to Tsuniah so to avoid going alllll th way back out through Nemaiah valley and then taking the chilko-newton rd to the north end of Chilko then connect onto the Tsuniah Lake Rd.. Just a lot of extra riding alll the way back and around if there was one offroad connecting the two. Thanks for the tip. Probably will be near impossible to find.
Griz, one of your best videos to date. I'm planning my vacations time for 2017. If you have a two week window some time this year. Let's plan a ride. Bare in mind I ride a road bike and can do hard surface aggregate roads as well. Just not bare dirt roads. What say you? Cheers. Mate.
Anything is possible. Not sure of my riding plans this year. I May be doing a 4-6 week paddle expedition in the north. Keep me posted on your trips though. If available and the area is to my liking... who knows :-) When I retire... someday... I hoep to be riding nearly full time if that is possible.
I thought I did a good job of that in the video. Grab a pen and circle the entire chilcotin plateau and the coastal mtns. Everything South of Entiako Provincial Park to Carpenter Lake. Land of wonders... I have not been since the big burns. Im curious as to what it looks like now. BTW: I have heard alot of the 1st nations have closed their roads out there, so be prepared to turn around and respect their wishes in these time of the pandemic.
@@RubiKonAdventures I love your adventure . I been traveling in the East , Colorado and a lot in south and central America’s . But next year plan to spend a month to travel Montana up through Canada . You have a rout or tracks you would suggest so I don’t miss out on things . I would be happy to purchase the tracks . I am on an 850 GS . Camping and back country places to stay to meet local flavors and customs I would love the help Thanks mike
@@mikeklein982 unfortunately no tracks. Make sure you get BC Backroads Maps (www.backroadmapbooks.com). Just a word of caution. They are sometimes referred to as the BC Backroad Book of Lies.
Bare in mind I
ride a road bike and can do hard surface aggregate roads as well. Just not bare
dirt roads.
Just ran across your video. This is absolutely awesome. The music is fantastic and the scenery majestic. Been to Canada several times but never there.
Ride on man. Special place up there. Thanks ~GrizzLee
Who could possibly give a thumbs down? Weird
There's one in every crowd. No worries. Thanks for riding along. ~GrizzLee
Fun fact: this place is where Bruce Banner stayed at at the end of The Incredible Hulk.
12:30 whats the song please i cant find it
Good
Out of curiousity, what month was this trip?
Mid September....
Ok thanks. Great videos, helping me get through the long Northern Alberta winters!
Thank you for this video. I am heading that way next week (08/2020). Could you share your points of interest along the way?
Camping and back country places to stay to meet local flavors and customs I would love the help
Thanks mike
@@mikeklein982 unfortunately no tracks. Make sure you get BC Backroads Maps (www.backroadmapbooks.com).
Just a word of caution. They are sometimes referred to as the BC Backroad Book of Lies. Old logging cuts, fenced lands and mislocated routes are common in the Chilcotin Book. Can contact me on AdvRider "GrizzLee" is my handle. Have fun. ~GrizzLee
Sorry I meant to say the first mark was 40:16 not 42:16.
I live in Williams lake
You are so fortunate to have such beautiful country to explore. Thanks for riding along. ~GrizzLee
whats songs at 40:00????
"A Good End" Stefanie Gersch and Martin Ewert. Very poetic and beautiful piece. Deserves more recognition. Watch it here. ruclips.net/video/qxXIgErWMiI/видео.html
I think they are lingonberries.
I think you are corect. Thanks for riding along. ~Grizz
RubiKon Adventures yeah. I ride along with you. I discovered one of your first videos a couple years ago and used it to model a trip I took from Texas through all the national parks to Glacier and the through Idaho, etc. on my R1200GS.
Excellent footage, but you ruined every video by putting head in the shot every time while monologuing...show the landscape and talk from behind the camera.
