  • Duh! ⤵️
If your diaphragm wasn't working, you would be un alived.
Usually when singers hear this, they think
"Okay, I need a bigger breath"
    WHICH IS NOT THE CASE
Unless you're literally running out of air mid line-
    ⤵️⤵️⤵️
what you actually need is AIR SUPPORT ✨
AKA- more consistent air pressure hitting your vocal folds from below.
And we can increase this pressure by
A: inhaling into the lower lungs
B: engaging the lower back and abdominal muscles that are around the diaphragm while singing
You can do this by pushing your lower belly OUT and flexing your abs at the same time
(put your hands on your lower back, and you'll know when those muscles engage and it's working!)
    - 😡😢
I see so many singers creating tension and frustration trying to take bigger breaths, becuase of this confusing Cue.

I have a RUclips video that explains proper breathing technique for Singers in more depth and with exercises!
