- In this adventure we will be taking a look at my new 2023 Honda CRF300LS dual sport motorcycle. We will be taking the bike out for its very first ride on and off road, and discussing our first impressions, and how does it feel compared to a regular Honda CRF 300L, and it this better for smaller or shorter people, or even just more off road confidence.

If you take feedback, (you talk too much and say nothing) if you don’t then delete my comment and I apologise, but I was out by 4:22 .
@@COM70Must admit that some of what he said was repetitive, if not reaffirming what he'd previously said and could have been replaced with new observations/comments, but then again, I'd have done worse of a job than he did 😅
Yellow
hey u commented this on another vid as well @@TK-cl1jm
@@COM70You’ve got issues
"We took our standard CRF300L and gave it a lower seat height. Shorter riders will love it on- or off-road, and so will everyone who rides in the city where you need to put your feet down more often in parking lots and stoplights. To top it off, the CRF300LS gets a special paint scheme." Thanks for the review.
seems like this would also make a better supermoto if someone wants to have two bikes (extra set of wheels)
It doesn't matter how tall you are , what is your inseam, that's all that counts!
I'm not done with the protection like bash plate barkbusters etc. I'm already excited about my LS, I got used with 24 miles, saved a ton of money, thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the review as I have been waiting for one to come out! I pick mine up tomorrow!
Extremely well done, thanks, please keep them coming.
Cool review, being able to put your feet down is so awesome for back country riding, thanks
Love it. Especially the different color scheme. One of these might have to be my next bike.
I LOVE the colors of this machine.
Gorgeous looking bike and perfect dual purpose all rounder!
Thank you for the review I’ve been waiting for a review before going out and test driving one. I’m 165cm so the LS model will fit me well. Great video.
great review on a bike not many people are talking about. looking into getting into riding and want a lower power dual sport like this or the tw200, pretty short at around 5'6 so this looks like it would be great on and off road
The twitchy throttle can be improved by adjusting the throttle cable on the right side of the engine . Your owners manual shows where and how. The cable can be loose so just tighten to remove the slack. I think I adjusted mine 3 times before it remained adjusted. I don’t have an ECM and you probably won’t need one after adjusting the throttle cable. You can install a stand off bracket to move the brake line out of your line of sight so you can see your dash better
Thanks for the vid been debating the Kawasaki and Honda 300 I didnt see this 300ls so I wanna look at those now
Nice review off road! I'd like to see you do a full on road review with twisties, passing power, and top speed. Thanx!
This model looks very much like a future bike. I have never had abs on a bike but it worked in semis I drove!
I just bought this motorcycle in Thailand. The Thai version doesn't have ABS but it's so much cheaper here than in the US it's crazy. Mine is going to the local motard specialist for full supermoto conversion next week.
Always a good review.
Thank you. Very interesting. I also have Triumph tiger RP. And now want to buy Crf300l.
Great review, your enthusiasm come across well. I have Africa twin adv, I had the misfortune to try out the abs, on a bend, on the front wheel, road, without it would have been off, amazing.
Enthusiasm is good. But he should take some pauses because it becomes a verbal onslaught.
yours is the first one I've seen. thanks for making it.
Thanks for watching
I have 28.5 inch inseam and this might be my nxet bike. Thanks for the review.
I booked with the biggest dealer in Sacramento last week. PCP Motorsports. No ETA for now but definitely in few months. I am gonna use to go to work everyday even in winter
Bike looks nice . I like that color scheme better than the blood red .
Love that color!
Its a really cool design on this bike... nice purchase.
I got this bike" and well old school comes to mind" but with all the great things that new brings. I can flat foot this thing" and at 60 years old I need that. No ya can't jump school buses anymore but man I love this bike.
Only thing I'd change is I wanted the red" Honda's are just red I think.
I can't wait to order one if they are in Australia. I had on of the first ones & im too short for grounding. This version sounds perfect. At least that black paint stays on the bike unlike the silver
I hope they offer the Rally in "S" and still in red like they do in Asia but for US. Most of us would be willing to trade off a bit of travel for lower CG and easier footing for more confidence.
I can’t believe that a manufacturer would route those wires like that.
Agree. It’s rediculous
honestly that is a deal breaker
That cable/wire in the way; I saw a guy use a zip-lock and attached it to the bar on your handlebars
Looks like they just grabbed a random line off the shelf.... and said... good enough
I think the worst part is you can't reroute it at all
You did a good job, loved that bike.
Thanks for the great video n LS stands for Low Seathight
Great looking with that black frame. Nice review.
Thank u, and yeah I love that black frame
Love where you live. Nice trails.
I'm getting an Enduro bike soon
I'm stuck on which because there are so many. I'm going thru my credit union so the money is there.
Cashiers check.
I’d love that gray on my 450L 😍
blue with red would great I'm not a fan of the gray but glad some like its good-looking bike all in all though. cool little put putt
Man. I like the color I'll take one !
Nice review! I own a CRF 250 L of 2018 and I’m in no hurry to upgrade because I love my bike but also because I’m 1,66 mt x 50 kg (5.5 ft for 110 pounds) so I touch only with my toe tips, but if this very LS will be imported in Italy I will almost certainly buy one. I just written to Honda Italia to ask but they don’t know yet.
Thx for the vid. I live in Myrtle Beach and have been waiting for these. Bought a 21 300 rally to learn on till they are out and now they are , it’s gonna be hard to give it up. Btw- where are u riding ? I’m new to off road and id like to hit up as many trails/places as I can learn about. . Tj
I'm sold I'm buying one. Good job
That would suit me as in a short rider who just plods along on trails and a bit of single tracks ,I like the colour to it seams less steelable ,but still a 300 and very reliable I think I’ll sell my 250 and get one I like the 6 th gear for the road and it’s easy to pick it up as that’s one thing that tiers you out
Good video!
Interesting, no rear rack. I have the 150L. It's a little lacking in pep, but for the price point you can't beat it.
I'm going to wait until next spring, as the riding season is almost done here, plus I have a few things to take care of yet, but I've been kicking around either the KLX230s, or this, since I saw it. Any preferences either way?
I never knew this bike existed but it looks like the prefect 4 stroke trail bike aside from the abs... I like to spin tires and lock the wheels if I want to. I’m an aggressive rider and the less between me and the bike the better. Full control is the way to go for me.
How about the option of switchable ABS, sothat one still has ABS on wet tarred roads, when that car driver in front of you suddenly slams on brakes.
After retirement, I spent a year and a half riding a courier bike all day, which included am & pm peak time traffic. Believe me, not having ABS on a bike in those conditions is downright dangerous.
i think it does have a switch@@DaveZee01
I love this bike! The is great, my favorite color is grey and silver so the color of this bike is right down my lane. Its a 300cc which is not too big and not too little. Its a nice adventurous type bike and thats what i love. After having kids i let my Suzuki Katana 600 sit way too long and now the carbs are F'd up. But im done with straightup street bikes, i want a dual sport bike. Love the vid and i too couldnt find any good vids of people ACTUALLY riding it. Whats the cruising speed and top speed? BTW, does this bike have rear pegs for another rider???
The seat is wider because it’s lower. the foam is shaped tapered in towards the top. So when you chop some foam off the top the seat gets wider.
Then it must be hard as a rock!
I enjoy your videos ty... i agree the seat looks a bit wider..please measure it at its widest and tell us its width... My 300L is almost 8"
Good review 👍
Thanks! 👍
Nice review ! Love the powder coat frame and color scheme !
Looks sweet
So I contemplated between the KLX300/CRF300L/XT250 for many months . Being the short legged guy I am , I reluctantly decided on the XT250 . It’s a great little bike but it just falls short in a couple categories ( like the 5speed transmission, and just a little underpowered for anything more than two tracking and it’s a little wobbly at speeds over 60 mph . But it’s a great little bike , just didn’t quite satisfy my needs . The CRF300LS checks all the boxes and appears to be just what I was looking for when I first ventured out to find a dual sport .
Well as soon as I got wind of this bike coming out , I just sold the XT250 last month and now I’m waiting for the CRF300LS to arrive at my dealer . They are allocated for two and I reserved one ☝️
However, they have no clue when the shipment will be 🙄
Hopefully before this summer is over , maybe I’ll get a couple of months in before the snow flies again lol !
You will love it, got mine last week already got 200 + miles' can flat foot it" I'm 60 and I feel like they made this bike for me, don't get me wrong if ya turn it on it will do what ya want just won't put ya in hospital. Gears are smooth as silk. The gears are just awesome ,6th gear is higher or not as close together for highway speeds. 64 mpg where I live. It will be worth your wait. Enjoy
@@randallwhite9015 I’m turning 60 this year as well , so I don’t need anything too radical ( those days are long behind me ) just something to accommodate my needs for weekend light adventure and local commuting, but the XT250 was just a little underpowered for going any distance. And I like that the this new CRF300LS has a low seat , 6 speed transmission, and ABS equipped .
It looks awesome ! I’m sure it will be worth the wait .
Nomad, same story for me. Had the XT for 3 years. Loved the bike but fell short on the NE BDR so I put my name on the 300 ls list and picked it up 2 weeks ago. Major improvement it does all what the XT couldn't. Added skidplate, tail rack, bags, USB, different Grips. Love the bike. Good luck, hope you get yours soon!
@@alanbattiato2466 Hey thanks for the feedback. That’s awesome that you got it already, still waiting here . Hopefully soon !
My XT250 isn't wobbly at 60 or more at all. It's very stable. Also the ground clearance is a bit more on the XT250. If seat height is the main concern, The OTD price in a new CRF300ls isn't worth the difference over a good used XT250.
good to see you on a bike an not just squashing ear cups on a head set review.
Looks like the XT250 finally has a competitor in the "short inseam" market.
Use a black ziptie from the crossbar on the handlebar to the front brake line to keep it out of your view. Do not pull it all the way tight leave it loose to allow the breakline to travel.
I ordered some of them spacers people mentioned.
yes, thats what I asked the dealer to do when I picked up my brand new CRF 300...guess what the dealer told me: he will not do it because it endangers the warranty....
Yes good idea.....
Great one..i like the color and sound where is made..? and the price ..pls..i like to have some info..about the shop where you get it..Thanks
My future first motorcycle.
LS=Low & Short. I like it!
I like to think I am on top of new DS and especially the small, 300s. THIS was news to me. I did not know this was available.
I haven't even heard of this and I work in a powersports dealer building brand new bikes all day. I just bought a xr150l a few weeks ago, id probably consider this if i knew it existed.
Simply love that bike and will have a test ride in near future. There are only two things, I don't like so much, none of wich is a real dealbreaker: First is to be seen at 1:51 the cable running through your vision. Is that fixable?
Second: The same bike in Asia has a great LED headlight mask which looks much more modern including LED blinkers. Maybe my Honda dealer can order these and replace afterwards.
Thanks for that great video and for your enthusiastic mood while vlogging. Thumbs up!
PS: Wow: You sure know how to ride on sandy/muddy terrain!
Kind regards from Germany.
Im sure youve probably found yhe answer’s you’re looking for but for others. What you could do is mount a windshield and route the cables on the brackets. For the headlights Jake the gardensnake posted a video titled “changing my garbage headlights- honda crf300l” where he goes through the entire installation of better quality led headlights than even what honda puts in them
Just made my pre-order this week. No ETA. Hope soon
Took me a moment to realize that you're "the techne". lmao. subscribed
lol
I'm picking up my 300lS this Friday
Sweet!
Id like to know what your mic setup is with your camera. Sounds very good and less noisy
Thanks for your review. Where are you riding?
Thank u. South Ms
I believe the LS refers to the 2” lower seating position, or “low seat.”
Nice colors.
Would you trust this bike on the highway doing speeds of like 65-70? I’m mainly looking at one for commuting to work and back but would still like to be able to jump on the highway and head out of town to camp and stuff every once in awhile. I live in Alaska so the traffic wouldn’t be insane but it still gets busy.
I used to live in tradition now I’m about a 20-30 minute ride from there. Crazy, I never knew all the trails out that way, making me regret buying a cb500f over the x.
do ride a dual sport also?
@@adventureundone I wish, I bought a cb500f because I had a dirt bike already I planned on fixing. Dirt bike ended up needing more work than it’s worth so I’m looking to get something when I pay off my wife’s z125. I’m looking at the xr150, klx230, or maybe a 300 from either red or green but I didn’t even know Honda made the ls version until this video. My wife is 5’4” so a low seat height would be key if she ever wants to ride it but the ability to go the speed limit on highway 67 would be a big plus.
May I inquire how tall you are? I took a test ride on the KLX 300 DS and i was toeing it! Standing 5'4 i might now have to check this model out if it is as low as mentioned.
I like this paint scheme better… I’d put an aftermarket rear suspension on it to bring the height back up an inch 🤷♂️
That cable/wire in the way; I saw a guy use a zip-lock and attached it to the bar on your handlebars
Had a 250L and now have a 23 CB500X. I might have to add this to my garage.
I have a 500X too and I was just looking at this! I love the 500X but I'd love to have something more dirt oriented. I'm a new rider so the 500X feels like a lot to handle on trails.
@@lonememe agreed if you're doing or want to do a lot of offroad. The 500x, unless rigged with all the Rally Raid suspension, etc. is best for pavement and gravel roads. I'm looking at this CRF300LS...or maybe even the KLX300 or 230 for my trails and offroad stuff. Sold the 500X and replaced with an awesome VStrom 650. It's much better on highway and has more power and stability.
12:25 Some of the scariest moments riding dirt with my BMW F800 have been with ABS on. ABS isn’t made to make you stop sooner, it is there so you don’t lock them up and lay it down. ABS takes forever to stop on dirt in my experience. I’d be over that cliff with ABS on.
Definitely the case with my older, 2010 F 800GS but perhaps not so with other/later model, dual sport/adventure bikes with riding modes?
Same with my 2010 1200GS but they say modern off-road abs is better.
Yeah, the idea is that it let's some dirt build up in front of the tire but let's off as soon as the bike starts to get unstable. The same thing you would do. Also, it is faster breaking on road. As soon as the wheel slips, you loose braking power.
Thanks for your impressions! I’m considering it over the L. btw, S stands for Sissy .. 😂 lol 😂
My 300L has the brake cable in front of the cluster like that. I didn't like it at first but they kinda "droop" with time I guess.. they no longer block the cluster. I don't even see them anymore..
The technee doing motorcycle reviews ? Damm bro you impress me everyday
I just go my brand new CRF 300 LS 4 weeks ago in Germany; the tubes running in front of the screen are really quite annoying and dangerous... I cant even see how fast I am going...even the salesperson was laughing about it but did not dare to touch it...since then I am fighting with HONDA but they say it is normal...
Is the CRF 300LS available in Germany????
sure...with the tubes running across the cockpit
Love the grey. Hate the gold forks. Looks like southern woods. You near SC?
Subbed 😊
Ive been thinking about selling my TW200 for one of these 300LS. If I'm able to get one I plan on doing a 14-43 and gettting a 13t to throw on it for trail rides.
im thinking of getting rid of my tw also but the tw is a rock crawler not sure if the crf can handle the rocks
Banger of a video again
Thanks
Why would honda let a big cable flop around by the display? Can that be tucked and cleaned up with zips or will that mess with the range of motion of the steering
We have the same knuckleheads here in central Florida. Drive past the dump to leave the mattress in the woods. Pretty sad.
it's gross!
@Adventure Undone! On the topic that has nothing to do with this motorcycle, you do understand that the information your going on about is from people that have long since lost! If you were selling this information it would belong in an antique store! On the topic of this motorcycle, Honda is doing a good job of keeping this product out of the antique store in the first place! ;) Have a good one buddy!
One question, the front and rear shock absorbers are the same on the L version?
Is it jist a shorter rear spring? I notice in the specs you put up both the seat height and ground clearance drop about 2 inches, maybe the only difference is a shorter spring to drop the rear a couple inches
Can you tell us the total height of the spike including the mirrors As I cannot find this information on the Honda website
where do you live where you can just take a random trail off the side of a road? Here in KS everything is private and it's really annoying and impossible finding trails. sold my xr650l for that reason
Thanks
Wish they'd come out with a fat tire version of this bike. Would be a great alternative to the TW200 with the added power and updates.
They'd sell a metric shit-ton of them if they ever did.
Maybe it's time for Yamaha to produce an XT and TW300 'cause I think I'd prefer this to an XT250.
A metric shit-ton = 1000 kg/2204 lbs (approx)
Motorcycle dry weight = 130 kg/ 286 lbs (approx)
1000 kg/130kg = 7,69 units
So I guess they would sell 7 units based on your estimate
They will not find that to be an interesting business case.
So, you won't see it as a product from Honda.
Finally!!
Lol you crack me up is that road ever dry ? I’m transitioning to a dual sport your my size going small let us know what it’s like with a 130 poundish passenger on short town rides my daughter loves to ride on the back. Good job on the video thanks 👍
I took my 130 pound girlfriend on 100 miles off road trips on my 250 dual sport. Yes it hinders your riding, but not really much at all on pavement, or towns, just tricky, or Sandy situations, pretty much like he rode through on this video.
Her butt may get a little sore, but other then that, you’ll have fun, and that is what it’s all about, right?
@@mikem9953 cool I’m selling a few to make room we usually just take a 15 to 25 mile rides every weekend I’ve had full size street bikes and dirt bikes for over 40 years . The thought of going back to a smaller bike at my age seems like a good idea .
Yeah, after all the research on the 300L I just discovered the Rally version & today I saw this "LS" version. Back to your video
so I'll know WTF the differences are? Thanks man, peace
I guess the difference is the basically seat height & ABS brakes only(+color). I'm 5' 6" but I'm not worried about the seat
height since the suspension is so light/soft? I do appreciate your reviewing this one, I didn't know about it. peace
@@user-dv7hb2sc9m I would go rally. Thats what I have now and I have done a fair bit of coverage on it as well. Love the bike!
ruclips.net/video/Rkqy68okn_0/видео.htmlsi=q9I9dK13yJ8e_QFn
Honestly I liked the Rally best as well, gas tank is bigger & the small shield, I don't know all the differences but the
INTENT tells me the Rally is more about what I'm gonna want the bike for. They say she rides better on the roads &
I guesstimate my needs as 80% - 20% on the roads so I'll be selecting a tire for that percentage. Also I'd probably
do somewhat of a suspension upgrade but not until after I have a chance to break it in w/ stock stuff. No need to
be MOD'in' a bike before she's broken in.... thanks for sharing & now that I know, I can digg thru your stuff to see
what all you think about the bike, then & Now! peace
@@user-dv7hb2sc9m yeah I have been debating upgrading my suspension as well. maybe soon
Yeah, I've looked at several different places offering their own special upgrades.... If I buy new I'll ride it just like it
is thru the "break-in" period & then it'll be tires first as I think about what MOD's & in what order. Handling is what
I feel is most important - tires, suspension, and perhaps handlebars. There is a straight swap out set of front end
suspension from I believe the 150 moto version but I've got to double check it. A guy says that all the past like
15+ yrs of this other 150 can be used on the Dual Sport version BUT it might only be in his Asian nation but I'll
be checking. If it's on all the past motocross bikes(150's) for the last 15-20 yrs as he claims here like it is in
his country, It will be fairly easy to source them. If not, you know it's an expensive undertaking. peace
Is this suspension still useless? My crf300la bikes were dangerous at best off road stock although that's pushing speed. If cruising slowly its ok barely lol
Needs a bigger gas tank and a kick start would be nice, Put a rear rack like the Honda Trail 125 and I will be heading to the show room.
Best bike tourism
i like the cr500
Damn. I want one.
I googled it, LS stands for Lower Seat.
Why does it have a wire loop right in front of the speedometer?
Just got one home today...
Kawasaki 230s battle grey look alike. And probably much better quality fitnfinish motor ,gear band reliability than Kawasaki. Seat looks much more comfortable. How's the handling? Is it stable or kinda janky?
