  • In this adventure we will be taking a look at my new 2023 Honda CRF300LS dual sport motorcycle. We will be taking the bike out for its very first ride on and off road, and discussing our first impressions, and how does it feel compared to a regular Honda CRF 300L, and it this better for smaller or shorter people, or even just more off road confidence.

    "We took our standard CRF300L and gave it a lower seat height. Shorter riders will love it on- or off-road, and so will everyone who rides in the city where you need to put your feet down more often in parking lots and stoplights. To top it off, the CRF300LS gets a special paint scheme." Thanks for the review.

    The twitchy throttle can be improved by adjusting the throttle cable on the right side of the engine . Your owners manual shows where and how. The cable can be loose so just tighten to remove the slack. I think I adjusted mine 3 times before it remained adjusted. I don’t have an ECM and you probably won’t need one after adjusting the throttle cable. You can install a stand off bracket to move the brake line out of your line of sight so you can see your dash better

    I never knew this bike existed but it looks like the prefect 4 stroke trail bike aside from the abs... I like to spin tires and lock the wheels if I want to. I’m an aggressive rider and the less between me and the bike the better. Full control is the way to go for me.

    • @DaveZee01
      @DaveZee01 11 месяцев назад

      How about the option of switchable ABS, sothat one still has ABS on wet tarred roads, when that car driver in front of you suddenly slams on brakes.
      After retirement, I spent a year and a half riding a courier bike all day, which included am & pm peak time traffic. Believe me, not having ABS on a bike in those conditions is downright dangerous.

Its a nice adventurous type bike and thats what i love. After having kids i let my Suzuki Katana 600 sit way too long and now the carbs are F'd up. But im done with straightup street bikes, i want a dual sport bike. Love the vid and i too couldnt find any good vids of people ACTUALLY riding it. Whats the cruising speed and top speed? BTW, does this bike have rear pegs for another rider???

    Nice review ! Love the powder coat frame and color scheme !
    Looks sweet
    So I contemplated between the KLX300/CRF300L/XT250 for many months . Being the short legged guy I am , I reluctantly decided on the XT250 . It’s a great little bike but it just falls short in a couple categories ( like the 5speed transmission, and just a little underpowered for anything more than two tracking and it’s a little wobbly at speeds over 60 mph . But it’s a great little bike , just didn’t quite satisfy my needs . The CRF300LS checks all the boxes and appears to be just what I was looking for when I first ventured out to find a dual sport .
    Well as soon as I got wind of this bike coming out , I just sold the XT250 last month and now I’m waiting for the CRF300LS to arrive at my dealer . They are allocated for two and I reserved one ☝️
    However, they have no clue when the shipment will be 🙄
    Hopefully before this summer is over , maybe I’ll get a couple of months in before the snow flies again lol !

Gears are smooth as silk. The gears are just awesome ,6th gear is higher or not as close together for highway speeds. 64 mpg where I live. It will be worth your wait. Enjoy

      @@randallwhite9015 I’m turning 60 this year as well , so I don’t need anything too radical ( those days are long behind me ) just something to accommodate my needs for weekend light adventure and local commuting, but the XT250 was just a little underpowered for going any distance. And I like that the this new CRF300LS has a low seat , 6 speed transmission, and ABS equipped .
      It looks awesome ! I’m sure it will be worth the wait .

      My XT250 isn't wobbly at 60 or more at all. It's very stable. Also the ground clearance is a bit more on the XT250. If seat height is the main concern, The OTD price in a new CRF300ls isn't worth the difference over a good used XT250.

    12:25 Some of the scariest moments riding dirt with my BMW F800 have been with ABS on. ABS isn’t made to make you stop sooner, it is there so you don’t lock them up and lay it down. ABS takes forever to stop on dirt in my experience. I’d be over that cliff with ABS on.

      Yeah, the idea is that it let's some dirt build up in front of the tire but let's off as soon as the bike starts to get unstable. The same thing you would do. Also, it is faster breaking on road. As soon as the wheel slips, you loose braking power.

    My 300L has the brake cable in front of the cluster like that. I didn't like it at first but they kinda "droop" with time I guess.. they no longer block the cluster. I don't even see them anymore..

    I just go my brand new CRF 300 LS 4 weeks ago in Germany; the tubes running in front of the screen are really quite annoying and dangerous... I cant even see how fast I am going...even the salesperson was laughing about it but did not dare to touch it...since then I am fighting with HONDA but they say it is normal...

    Why would honda let a big cable flop around by the display? Can that be tucked and cleaned up with zips or will that mess with the range of motion of the steering

    @Adventure Undone! On the topic that has nothing to do with this motorcycle, you do understand that the information your going on about is from people that have long since lost! If you were selling this information it would belong in an antique store! On the topic of this motorcycle, Honda is doing a good job of keeping this product out of the antique store in the first place! ;) Have a good one buddy!

  • @Fromatic

    Is it jist a shorter rear spring? I notice in the specs you put up both the seat height and ground clearance drop about 2 inches, maybe the only difference is a shorter spring to drop the rear a couple inches

    Wish they'd come out with a fat tire version of this bike. Would be a great alternative to the TW200 with the added power and updates.
    They'd sell a metric shit-ton of them if they ever did.

    • @DaveZee01
      @DaveZee01 11 месяцев назад +1

      Maybe it's time for Yamaha to produce an XT and TW300 'cause I think I'd prefer this to an XT250.

    • @bjarkenielsen8515
      @bjarkenielsen8515 9 месяцев назад

      A metric shit-ton = 1000 kg/2204 lbs (approx)
      Motorcycle dry weight = 130 kg/ 286 lbs (approx)
      1000 kg/130kg = 7,69 units
      So I guess they would sell 7 units based on your estimate
      They will not find that to be an interesting business case.
      So, you won't see it as a product from Honda.

      I took my 130 pound girlfriend on 100 miles off road trips on my 250 dual sport. Yes it hinders your riding, but not really much at all on pavement, or towns, just tricky, or Sandy situations, pretty much like he rode through on this video.
      Her butt may get a little sore, but other then that, you’ll have fun, and that is what it’s all about, right?

    Yeah, after all the research on the 300L I just discovered the Rally version & today I saw this "LS" version. Back to your video

    • @user-dv7hb2sc9m
      @user-dv7hb2sc9m 19 дней назад

      I guess the difference is the basically seat height & ABS brakes only(+color). I'm 5' 6" but I'm not worried about the seat
      height since the suspension is so light/soft? I do appreciate your reviewing this one, I didn't know about it. peace

      Honestly I liked the Rally best as well, gas tank is bigger & the small shield, I don't know all the differences but the
      INTENT tells me the Rally is more about what I'm gonna want the bike for. They say she rides better on the roads &
      I guesstimate my needs as 80% - 20% on the roads so I'll be selecting a tire for that percentage. Also I'd probably
      do somewhat of a suspension upgrade but not until after I have a chance to break it in w/ stock stuff. No need to
      be MOD'in' a bike before she's broken in.... thanks for sharing & now that I know, I can digg thru your stuff to see
      what all you think about the bike, then & Now! peace

    • @user-dv7hb2sc9m
      @user-dv7hb2sc9m 19 дней назад

      Yeah, I've looked at several different places offering their own special upgrades.... If I buy new I'll ride it just like it
      is thru the "break-in" period & then it'll be tires first as I think about what MOD's & in what order. Handling is what
      I feel is most important - tires, suspension, and perhaps handlebars. There is a straight swap out set of front end
      suspension from I believe the 150 moto version but I've got to double check it. A guy says that all the past like
      15+ yrs of this other 150 can be used on the Dual Sport version BUT it might only be in his Asian nation but I'll
      be checking. If it's on all the past motocross bikes(150's) for the last 15-20 yrs as he claims here like it is in
      his country, It will be fairly easy to source them. If not, you know it's an expensive undertaking. peace
