I also have an iMac 27" mid 2011, i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770, 512. I lost photos display when I upgraded to 15.1 and Desk Manager has never worked. Photos opens pictures don't show. 🤔🤔🤔
MacBook Pro mid 2015 and two IMac end 2015 flawlessly updated. Many thanks and as usual „no update without your Approval testing“. Regards from Germany.
Dear Mr Macintosh, I have the same problem as you with my MacBook Pro late 2013 number 11,3 so multiple clicks on the update gives no result. To remedy this, I reinstalled macOS from OCLP. And it works fine. Many thanks for your tutorials.
Mid-2012 Macbook Pro is working perfectly with the latest versions of both OCLP and Macos. Thanks for your hard work !!! To be clear, I use this macbook every single day.
What kind of issues? I use trackpad in Monterey and have issues with random dragging in Logic Pro X, and have to pause for a few seconds for the object to return to its origin. Kept thinking it was a low charge problem, but still happens at full charge.
Just successfully installed macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 on my late 2012 Mac mini 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with 16 GB of ram. I donated a bit of money to the OCLP team to show my support, they deserve it! I urge anyone reading this to donate whatever you can even if it's just a dollar.
I have a 2013 iMac 14,2 and have the same issue with Software Update not just in MacOS15 but also in 14 as well. It can take forever to find an update available and then button clicks are non responsive. It works eventually, but takes several refreshes of the software update window.
Great video, thanks :) Sequoia 15.1.1 running fine using OCLP 2.1.2 on iMac late 2013 27-inch (3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1 GB and 16gb memory). I used Settings to download new OS, though this failed the first time and had to re-download (this also happened with the previous MacOS upgrade following same procedure).
Having a MacBook Pro 15 MID 2014 with Intel Core I7 16B Ram update (MacBookPro11,2) to MAC OS 15.1.1 went smoothly. As before -qhen installing from scratch- I lost my WIFI uuntil open core patcher 2.1.2 came up and did Root Patch. (Bluetooth not testet, but device is visible) Still a great Mac... thank you for your hard work !!
i have 15.1.1 on my 13 inch 2015 MBP, runs OK, took a really long time to load the software update page (similar to your problems with the 15inch 2014 but eventually found it). But I noticed that the performance drops off quite significant if you run a newer os then ventura. ventura was relatively fast but on the newer version, for example in settings, every click causes a delay of like 2-3 seconds before the page shows up. usable but only for light stuff and as long as you have some time
I also have a Late 2013 27" iMac that was having the same problem you are talking about in the latest video, it kept clocking and would never start the update. What I did last night was going into Automatically download and install, left it like that and this morning it had downloaded and installed Sequoia 15.1.1
Late 2013 15" MBP, exactly the same software update issues. Am at 15.0.1 with OCLP updated to 2.1.2. Sometimes System Settings would show the update but the "Update" button did nothing. Once, it was just sat in the background telling me 15.0.1 was up to date (!) while I was doing something else then suddenly, popped up a "download?" prompt for 15.1.1 - but when I confirmed that, System Settings just showed a progress bar stuck at the very start with no additional text shown at all. Command line software update also failed in my case; it'd find the update and say "downloading", but then just sit with no network activity indefinitely. Needed Activity Monitor to kill it. I'm actually manually downloading the full 14GB of 15.1.1 installer directly from Apple's servers to try it from there, *while* watching this video - so your description at about 16m 50s of this video certainly caught my attention! I was unable to fix any of the usual software update approaches and am just working with fingers crossed that 15.1.1's full downloadable installer will do what it needs to do and ultimately reboot in a sufficiently coherent state to be able to run root patches. EDITED TO ADD: 2nd hand APMs are "moving" between my 2015 13" on 15.0.1 and an M1 Max just fine, and Universal Control is even working. That blows my mind, given that this is using 11 year old Bluetooth hardware. OCLP is really quite remarkable, but it also reveals how greedy and dark Apple are these days with abandoning either features, or entire OS builds in hardware that's *clearly* completely capable of supporting it.
Can OCLP load drivers from previous versions of macOS? I’d like to try this on my 2013 Mac Pro (nMP, trash can - which supports only up to Monterey), but I’d need to keep using an ATTO NT 2102 Thunderbolt 2 10GbE x2 card and the maker only supplies driver compatible up to Monterey. Would just installing the driver on Sequoia (or anything newer than macOS 12) work? I’d love to bring this machine to present day OS and apps, since it’s still very capable, but cannot give up 10GbE, and Thunderbolt 3 bus-powered NICs (or any device for that matter) just don’t work with the Thunderbolt 2Thunderbolt 3 adapter, needing an intermediate dock, for example; and the OWC dock is very expensive just for the NIC. Thanks!
MBP mid-2012 Intel Core i5 16GB RAM. Easy update - one of the most straightforward yet. Machine couldn't find my wifi at first but after OCLP root patching, worked fine. I don't know why but this machine is running particularly well after this update.
2014 mid mac book pro 15" here does the same thing but if you reboot and try again and wait it out it works. Also on reboot it takes awhile to update so wait it out there too. This has been doing this for the last few versions for me.
MacBook Pro 15" 2017 with TouchBar. Innstalled Sonoma right up to the last release and on the whole it was fine. But little things started to concern me - screen tearing appeared which kind of suprpised me and I became concerned that things might get worse. So I reverted back to Ventura and things are running without any issues. I guess there is some relevance to the machines that are supported and those that aren't. I would be interested to see how well Sequoia does on this model as I'm not able to update to FCPX 11 on Ventura. Thanks for all you info - it has been really helpful and very insightful! Well done!
rMBP mid 2012, couldn't upgrade from 15.0 to 15.1 and had to perform a clean install because pressing the update button does literally nothing. Clean installs are a very time demanding procedure and if this issue isn't fixed, Im gonna bite the bullet and wait for 15.2 to update.
That said, one thing I have noticed is that the OCLP application seems to beachball (Application Not Responding) for about 30 seconds every time I quit (either quit or close window). Not a deal breaker but worth reporting.
As another user previously said for another machine, there is also the problem, on my MBP11,3, that the Software Update “Update Now…” (IIRC) button is unresponsive to clicks (which has become worse in Sequoia), even if eventually usually it works; and, also, as said before, no license agreement is displayed, but only for macOS updates (a minor glitch, certainly, but one would like to know why: an Nvidia Kepler issue?)…
MacBookPro11,3 (15-inch, late 2013): the Software Update problem is present, at least intermittently, in Sequoia; in addition to that, there has always been the glitch that the license agreement won’t display, when updating macOS from Software Update (and it says that the license is not available, when using the full offline installer): so, it indeed seems to be something related to the Kepler dGPU (as someone also confirmed on MacRumors, but without explaining why). While on my MBP11,1 (no Kepler), the license agreement displays normally. Well, very strange…
Hello All. New to OCLP but happy I found it. I have a simple question. Should I only use the installers through OCLP when upgrading my OS? Ie. Going from 15.0 to 15.1. Thank you!
I’m holding off in Sequoia for now. With the last few OCLP and Sonoma updates my 2012 9,1 MBP is running smoothly. Only quirk I have seen - I can’t get a response from the info link to the 14.7.1 and Safari updates to launch the install. Will probably end up doing the update from a boot installer.
My 2012 i7 15" gave me a ton of guff with the upgrade invitation in sys-settings. It too gave a huge runaround that went on without any rhyme or reason, and even once it did go (hours later with frustrating snags) it did not seem to actually do the update even after shutdowns and the usual pattern of steps involved in all this. This didn't happen in Sonoma.
Hi MrMac, and greetings from 🇬🇧. At 1:12, you show the correctly configured Software Updates screen. I just wanted to double check and ask “do you intentionally have ‘Install Security Responses and system files’ option toggled to ON, please?”
Was having trouble on OCLP 2.0.0 Trying to install macOS 15 I have been running 13.7.1 Ventura On my MBP 8,1 (13-Inch Early 2011) 256gb SSD 16gb Ram I will be giving this a go today and will update you all later on this evening
MacBook Pro 11.3 (Retina 15-inch, mid 2014) - Same Problem as shown in your Video. The spinning wheel runs forever. After 10 restarts, the update button came up. After pushing the button nothing happens. Checked after 30 min and it turned out that the System Settings are frozen and not working at all anymore. I had the same issue when I tried to update to 15.1. In that case after several restarts the download started after 2 hours waiting and then the installation started but never finished. The machine crashed at next start. Before I started the upgrade to 15.1 I generated a new USB boot stick with 15.1 and made a backup. Made a fresh install and reinstalled all files via backup. If there will be no fix issued to this current problem I will make the upgrade to 15.1.1 again with a USB stick.
Running 2012 MacPro 5,1 with OCLP. 15.1.1 running flawlessly. Simple regular update from system settings. OCLP automatically downloaded additional KDKs. Took about 25 min to update and restarted about six times but smooth as silk. BUT I know there are BT issues for some. I don't use BT and also am ethernet wired so don't use WIFI. I'm not sure why you'd use WIFI with a MacPro but different purposes I guess.
The software update mess must be a bug related to Kepler. Fully patched Sonoma late 2013 iMac 27” GTX780M, and all I get are pin wheels in software update, in terminal it shows software update as unresponsive. Your site has been helpful in getting updates I can download and install. Have not tried Sequoia in a while because this machine had no AirPlay and software update was crashing and the metal graphics drivers are hit or miss. I always connect to Ethernet when doing an update on my OpenCore Mac so I am not even sure where things are going wonky. Doing clean installs always comes back to the same situation. Despite all this, OpenCore has kept my Mac going and I can’t complain, bugs will always get worked out in time, patience is a must.
Need help! I'm still unable to install 15.1.1. on my 2012 MBP. The Update Now button is not working. What I've tried: 1. Selecting more info under the available update in system settings. I get the dialog box that says restart required, and I'm able to click the blue update now button, but nothing happens. I've attempted this three times after restarting the MBP every time. 2. Install via Terminal does not show an available update (returns to the command prompt). 3. Booting into safe mode shows software is up-to-date. Also tried this a few times. 4. Reset NVRAM and the issue persists. Update Now button is still not working. Has anyone found a workaround? Thank you in advance for the help!
macbook pro 2013 13", macbook pro 2015 13" and macbook pro 2015 15" all updated just fine to macOS 15.1.1. from 15.1 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.1.2
Hi and thank you! I have an iMac 2011 21.5 12,1, I started with Sequoia had trouble with GPU and Bluetooth. I dropped down to Sonoma and found it ran really choppy. I then moved down to Big Sur and it is really running great but I still don’t have Bluetooth. I plan on doing some hardware upgrades to give it a longer better performing life and hope to switch back to Sequoia then. Any advice on how to get Bluetooth working again on my stock iMac 12,1 on Big Sur Wi-Fi still works fine?? Thanks again for everything. Also FYI Bluetooth was working properly when I was on Monterey. I do have it plugged into Ethernet.
I am running OCLP and Sequoia on my iMac 27 inch Late 2009 16mb with 1TB hard disk. Not worried about speed. I love the big screen and just need it to use Xcode to package iOS apps built using Embarcadero Delphi. All is good.
Good video - where is a good source to score a 6,1 Mac pro for around 150? Ebay shows a lot for around 250, w/o an SSD inside. Thanks for the solid work!
@Mr. Macintosh I have MBP mid 2012 running OLCP on Sonoma... with 16gigs of RAM and a 512 SSD...i have had no problems since i run Sonoma on my laptop...until i tried to connect to an external Monitor via the Mini-Display port..it seems not to work ...the laptop recognize the external display but cant project to it. What could be the problem ??
Hello Mr. Macintosh, thanks for Your great video. I want to update my Mac 18.3 from 15.1 to 15.1.1 - could I start the update from the system setting or shoud I download from OCLP 2.1.2?
I have an iMac 21.5 2011 - I’m running Sonoma - Photos app has an issue when trying to open a photo to a full page, Blank. Also, wi-fi delay in connecting. Other than that, superb. And, I’ve installed an internal SSD.
well, i had OCLP2.1 +Sequoia 15.1 running on a 5,1 - things were working well so I added the newer wifi/bluetooth and the McFiver with 2x NVME and hoped to install OCLP2.1 + Sequoia 15.1 (same setup that was working) on one of the Mcfiver nvme and i get cpu errors after selecting the OCLP Sequoia boot usb. If i take out all the newly added hardware can only boot from my untouched mojave boot ssd that was removed prior to this whole patcher. what am i missing? I was going to try OCLP 2.1.2 and build a new installer boot and try again but I can't boot with the mcfiver card installed - even mojave. (I haven't removed the 2x nvmes from that and try and i guess that's the next step but defeats the purpose). The only issue i had with the working setup was when trying to use Logic Pto.
Hello Mr. Macintosh. I also have issues with the Music app. I run a upgraded 5.1 and the app won't start anymore since 15.1. I have saved the report. I also having issues with Bluetooth witch is upgraded. I't won't start at all so i'm out of bluetooth. thanx for your work
iMac 27", Late 2015 Bluetooth is not running any more. Can't connect to trackpad & keyboard. Any suggestions or advice? I have to connect by USB to use.
Anyone using Monterey 12.7.6 here? It seems that Apple removed their last version 12.7.6 21H1320 from their repositories and left instead the 21H1317 one. Can't find any explanation anywhere. Which one are you running?
I have an iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015, Quad-Core intel i5, AMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB...running sequoia 15.1.1 everything works fine for me but netflix and amazon prime apps can't display video but the audio works..is that fixable?
iMac 27-inch, late 2013, 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2 GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2 GB, running macOS Sonoma 14.7.1 I can see the update for Safari but when I try to update nothing happens. I just click on the update now button and nothing happens. Stuck on Safari version Version 17.6 (19618.3.11.11.5) here. Ended up using your website to find the link to download the Safari update installer and used that and it seems to be working okay. For some reason have always had trouble with my VPN on this unsupported Mac. Downloads just seem slow and often don't complete whereas running the same app and download on my supported Mac at the same time completes either much faster or completes when it won't on the unsupported Mac. Also, have had problems running ookla speedtest on my unsupported Mac with the ookla app crashing at startup every time. .
With regard to performance. I have a Mac Mini 2010 Server with two spinning drives. I updated it to Sonoma and it is very slow. If you have any ideas beyond swapping out the drives let me know. What would be the best performance OS should I go back to?
iMac Model 12,2 Mid 2011, 2.7 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Core i5, Non Metal AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB, 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory: running Sequoia 15.0 with OCLP 2.1.2 ; not able to upgrade to 15.1 oclp stops mid range and advises not compatible. Currently wi-fi erratic using Ethernet only, photo app hasn’t worked well ever since Monterey OS, pictures do not appear in the app however clicking on area where they would be brings up a random photo for few seconds then disappears. Thinking about downgrading to Big Sur, its been suggested this was the last supported format for the non metal cards.
Installed 15.1.0 with OCLP 2.1.2 on to a A1278 (late 2011) and everything went smoothly. Updated to 15.1.1 next. Then i tried to run Bluestacks with VirtualBox but it kept freezing the whole computer (known issue). Tried to update Bluestacks from version 3 to 4 and half way going through the version 4 updates i was able to get it booting. For what any reason though booting VirtualBox/Bluestacks sometimes worked and most of the times it froze the whole OS. Decided to and test the latest Big Sur and see if i can get a performance boost. Not yet tested, installed smoothly. In case someone has a light version of android emulator that works on the Intel HD3000 graphics or possible fixes you can let me know. I am guessing the Bluestacks issues are related to the Boot drive/Graphics/performance requirements. Anyway i can also confirm booting the Bluestacks emulator is (sometimes) possible too.
What's the latest recommended OS for mid 2011 imac? I tried latest Sonoma 14.7.1 and Wifi works only after initial network join. On latest Sequoia it hangs on boot.
I have Kepler based machine and only issue it seems I have is sluggish System Settings, not sure why that, pressing various buttons is sluggish and sometimes not really responsive.
I can never get caching working on my Mac Pro 2013 with OCLP. Is there something you had to do to make it work? It just never seems to start the service fully.
I have a 2013 mac pro already bootcamped with monterey and windows 11, is it an easy process to not use oclp to up the mac side without loosing bootcamp ?
I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro with Sequoia 15.1.1 installed using a Samsung 500GB SSD with8 GB of memory and it seems to work well except the Photo App, it will not show the photos in the Library but can see the photos in the Days. Do you have any suggestions?
I think you’ll find 2 options toggled off within OCLP Settings, the one that affects Photos is the function (can’t recall its exact name) however it starts with the word ‘media..’. Having them on causes instability apparently. It’s mentioned on the OCLP support pages in the section on models supported.
Anyone running latest Logic Pro X, 11.1 on 2010 Mac Pro with Sequoia 15.1.1? I'm considering jumping from Monterey straight to 15.1.1....and need to know if this will be possible. TIA
My MB Pro 11,3 (Late 2013) does not charge. It says plugged-not charging . The situation is ongoing with Sequoia 15.0&OCLP2.0 and Sequoia 15.1&OCLP2.1.2 mixes. Does anybody face the same issue?
Typically that indicates your battery is fried, it will get to the point where it won't boot at all when plugged into the wall (it flows through the battery)
I have a fully souped up 2010 and 2011 iMac and Sequoia works great. It has an updated GPU and processor and WiFi. No issues. Sequoia works well on my 2009 and 2010 white polycarbonate MacBooks. But that’s it. Nothing else. I can’t get the iWork apps to work. Sonoma works perfectly. I agree, the core duo processors aren’t powerful enough to fully employ the machines.
iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011, Quad-Core Intel i5, Sequoia 15.0.1, AMD Radeon HD 6770 , 512, working better than ever. Thank you for your tireless work.
I have exactly the same one. You have updated to 15.1.1 and it works fine? thanks
I also have an iMac 27" mid 2011, i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770, 512. I lost photos display when I upgraded to 15.1 and Desk Manager has never worked. Photos opens pictures don't show. 🤔🤔🤔

Hi MrMac, and greetings from 🇬🇧. At 1:12, you show the correctly configured Software Updates screen. I just wanted to double check and ask “do you intentionally have ‘Install Security Responses and system files’ option toggled to ON, please?”
Early 2015 mbp retina 13", i5 8gb. Sequoia working ok. No heavy use tho, but seems fine for what I do on it.
Was having trouble on OCLP 2.0.0
Trying to install macOS 15
I have been running 13.7.1 Ventura
On my MBP 8,1 (13-Inch Early 2011)
256gb SSD 16gb Ram
I will be giving this a go today and will update you all later on this evening
I got sequoia on a 2017 Mac book air with a intel i5 processor and 8gb of ram it works good
MacBook Pro 11.3 (Retina 15-inch, mid 2014) - Same Problem as shown in your Video.
What I've tried:
Thank you in advance for the help!
macbook pro 2013 13", macbook pro 2015 13" and macbook pro 2015 15" all updated just fine to macOS 15.1.1. from 15.1 with OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.1.2
mid 2011 mac mini intel hd3000, 8gb ram, ssd. open core 2.1.2 updated to 15.1.1 yesterday. No issues bluetooth and wireless ok.
I’ve had Automatic Software Updates turned off for like 10 years now. I never have to worry about problems like that.
I am running OCLP and Sequoia on my iMac 27 inch Late 2009 16mb with 1TB hard disk. Not worried about speed. I love the big screen and just need it to use Xcode to package iOS apps built using Embarcadero Delphi. All is good.
Follow up - did the Sequoia 15.1.1 update using OCLP 2.1.2. Worked - the only thing I had to do was to re-connect to my wi-fi - no problem :D
I am using the MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina Mid 2014. I have the same issue like you have stated where the Software Update where it keeps clocking.
I't won't start at all so i'm out of bluetooth. thanx for your work
just installed the 15.1.1 update on MBP2017, Touch ID is not working, any workaround?
i'm running sequoia on my macbook air 11in and it's running ok
iMac 27-inch 2011, Sequoia 15.0.1, works fine, BUT the Photo app does not show photo very well.
My Mac Mini 2012 is still on Sonoma. Is it safe to update to sequoia via settings or do I have to use an USB installer?
iMac 27", Late 2015 Bluetooth is not running any more.
Also, have had problems running ookla speedtest on my unsupported Mac with the ookla app crashing at startup every time. .
I downgraded my 2017 12” MB as I could not fix the sleep wake failure issue.
With regard to performance. I have a Mac Mini 2010 Server with two spinning drives. I updated it to Sonoma and it is very slow. If you have any ideas beyond swapping out the drives let me know. What would be the best performance OS should I go back to?
iMac Model 12,2 Mid 2011, 2.7 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Core i5, Non Metal AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB, 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory: running Sequoia 15.0 with OCLP 2.1.2
; not able to upgrade to 15.1 oclp stops mid range and advises not compatible.
I have the updates showing up problem with my MBP Late 2013 Retina 15" (running the latest Sonoma)
I have 2014 imac 27 i7 32GB ram 1TB SSD and no issues with update. also have a MacBook air 2014 and no issues updating either.
MS Teams causing issue (with a great lag) and crashes when camera is turned on. 2015 iMac.
How do I safely uninstall OCLP after using Migration Assistant to transfer all data from an unsupported mac to a new supported mac?
@@TonyG579PoppyG579 I couldn't find the one you are talking about
@@bpearce77 go to OCLP app then do Settings.
@@theblacksquirrel. I replaced the battery , which behaved as the new one before being replaced, 2 months ago
26:54 !! nice im using here: AMD Radeon Pro WX 7100 8 GB but mine is a single trail, ram is ok ...
great video
2017 18.3 iMac won`t run Sonoma or Sequoia. So sluggish .Impossible to use.
Try disabling live background - that takes a lot of CPU cycles. Just put any JPEG as background.
MacBook mid 2010 is compatible?
I just installed the latest sequoia beta on a macbook pro 7,1 (2010) with opencore 2.1.2, it does work, but the app store won't open.
Ventura run much better on my mid 2012 (i5) MBP 13". It really struggled with Sonoma and Sequoia.
ok on my 15" early 2013 macbook pro
MBP2015 runs after updating
runs what?
What would we do without you
You’d checkout Anson Alexander if you didn’t have the fabulous Mr Mac
I have a fully souped up 2010 and 2011 iMac and Sequoia works great. It has an updated GPU and processor and WiFi. No issues.
Sequoia works well on my 2009 and 2010 white polycarbonate MacBooks. But that’s it. Nothing else. I can’t get the iWork apps to work. Sonoma works perfectly.
I agree, the core duo processors aren’t powerful enough to fully employ the machines.
2009 MacPro is Okay
