It all depends what was agreed upon initially between the partners and the financial investor which wasn't discussed in this clip - if they needed money and he provided it then he does not owe them anymore - if he promised to do more than commit funds then he didn't keep his promise.

What most viewers don't realize is that these guys seeking investment are scammers. They didn't build the gazebo that was on display at the fair, they stole it from someone and use it as bait to reel in potential customers.
Marcus could smell it from a mile away so to prevent any further customers from being scammed, he had them drop off the gazebo to True Values corporate headquarters lol. Meanwhile, the guys took the money Marcus gave them and ran off to Mexico to party while Marcus hired a private investigator to take photos of them while in Mexico 😂
