New to the hobby, but all in. Haven't gotten into tuning ESC yet, and could use some hints(preferably helpful ones). Ive got four drag cars, and can get to mid to high 2s. What should I be looking to do in tuning? Would love to come to some races, not far from Tampa
What esc are you using? If it’s castle then you can change the “start power” from low to med and to hi. This is the amount of power that goes to the motor as soon as your finger touches the throttle. You can bump up the timing on your motor setting. Apart from those two things, you can also adjust your throttle curve so that your acceleration curve comes in sooner. You can also create a channel mix where you can dial in the exact throttle percentage amount into one of the toggle switches or the button next to the throttle if you got the radiolink remote, this means every time you flip the switch or press the button, it’s sudden power to the motor and it’ll be what ever amount you put in. You can also create a “perfect pass” profile with the radiolink remote. You can choose how fast or slow you want the throttle to accelerate even if you give it full throttle, it’ll accelerate at the rate you dial in…. So if you want to use the button PLUS the gradual acceleration, you could for ex: make the button put out 50% throttle instantly and from there the auto curve comes in and will take it to 100% throttle at a swift pace. If your setup can take 100%full throttle instantly and go straight, then use the button and give it 100% in the mix channel setting. Using the auto acceleration feature is only if you got too much power and it needs to be put down carefully and swift it’ll do it for you. It’s also possible to create multiple vehicle profiles on your radiolink v2 or v3 remote… just choose another open profile in your radio and do the whole calibration and all that and then start making those changes for your drag profile. That way you don’t change or loose the settings for regular driving or what ever. Hope this helped… if this sounds interesting and you think other rc guys would like to see how it’s done, I could make a detailed video with my SkyRider build and the radiolink transmitter. I can show you how I setup my curves on castle link and on the radio.. it also comes with a built in Gyro and I’ll show you how to activate it and how to assign the Gyro to the channel you want it on. Let me know..😎✌️
@@toysforboysrc I didn't know the Traxxas radio could do all of that. I'm running a mamba monster on dr10, rx10 pro in breakout, copperhead 10 on carbon drag slash, and stock system on stock drag slash. My best run has been on the dr10 at 2.62, but I can just floor it. It swings left, and front tires lift whenever full power is applied. Doesn't matter if it's at start or at 70mph. I have 14oz of lead in front of wheels, and it yeets them up. Just got it back together after taking out a 4x4 post on neighbors mailbox due to left pull. I've got 20mil in diff, 80 in rear shocks, 50/80 up front, tower extender on rear shock tower to get them vertica, running belted beadlocks on a 4400kv tp motor. l
