Fragrances that don't have longevity and projection make great fragrances for wearing when you're staying home or you don't want to come off as offensive, yet you want to smell great. One of my all time favorite colognes Gucci Pour Homme 2 is notorious for its weak projection, but it smells beautiful and unique. I'd hardly call it a waste.
''Opium'' [original formula] is too powerful [for me anyway]...It packs a punch that lasts for days almost..had a tiny test of it and it remained even after two soapy showers if I put my nose to wrist.. ''Poison'' is just too choking, the more expensive perfumes tend to be very long lasting. A nice slight whiff of perfume in someone else can be lovely though, but one doesn't want to able to 'taste' the perfume because it is so powerful.
Very good and useful video. Those like us who love PERFUMES and trying to make it, are interested in watching more videos like this. We are from India - Kerala
Yeah the line between projection and longevity and skin scent is small. If people can smell you at 5cm is that still projection? If you can sniff a bit of the scent with your nose being at 2cm or 1cm from your skin or digging your nose in your skin, is that still longevity? What about determining at what point the fragrance is a skin scent? When you can smell it from 1cm far? 2cm? More ? Less ? 😁
All three matter to me no matter how fantastic the scent itself may be. I'm not paying hundreds of bucks for scented water. In fact, the fragrance industry, especially the men's, is such a joke I'm almost tempted to label it a scam but that's another topic for another day. And yes, see-ahj would be the more correct pronunciation but even I still read the word in my head as being sill-age because that's how I thought it was said when I first learnt the word and I guess it's taking time to unlearn it :P
Practical longevity is what I would like to call the actual performance of a frag. At what point does the scent stop projecting and become a skin scent. YSL LNDL Some people say they get 6+ hours longevity out of it...when the actual practical longevity is an hour.
Actually i see when fragrances smell stronger or they are heavier they have everything longevity , sillage but projection not always but if it smells strong on your nose i always measure those and all of theme preform really good so if a fragrance smells strong its gonna perform well i guess.
I usually talk about longevity and projection in my reviews. Not really sillage, since it's impossible to judge and fluctuates a lot. Fragrantica.com has user ratings of fragrances and this is measured in the ratings
Hi Sir , Greetings from India. If anyone said this perfume longevity is 8hr & project 2hr means after every 2hr we need to reapply that perfume? How projection Graph goes in between that 8 hr? Can u pls explain wit example. Nice video on very Important subject👌👍💐😊
You're probably going noseblind to it, a very small % of people seem to have this problem with ambroxan heavy scents. I have no scientific proof of this, just something I've noticed. You may not smell it but I assure you everyone else does lol. I can spray Sauvage EDT on myself and smell it on me the next day, literally 24hrs later and my skin usually eats up scents like you wouldn't believe.
Weirdly it seem almost IMMEDIATEY (15min) I go nose blind to Tom Ford Oud Wood. But, when I leave the room and return 5-10min later I smell it in the room. Or I’ll get back in the car from shopping and smell it briefly in the car. This made me extremely hesitant to purchase full size. Once my samples were gone I just moved on. On the other end of the spectrum is Black Orchid, Beautiful fragrance in every way- just too strong for me -- I wish I could water it down.

I pronounce it see-ahj. It's a french word. If a fragrance doesn't have longevity and projection, it's a waste of money imo.
Lisa Wade TRUTH. M7 oud absolu is my favourite fragrance but I can't enjoy it fully because the longevity and projection are pathetic
It is pronounced See-ahz

look in saudi arabia i can't go around people and ladies and hug them like jeremy does.... so i need my scent to let everyone know my presence!
What is your opinion on Pheromone cologne? Do they actually have the effect they are said to have?
Which perfume has got all 3 best things then?

How do you measure projection as a perfume reviewer?
there's not really a science to it. I ask people around me how strong it is.
@@FragranceBros Ok. Thanks a lot for the tip 😊
A perfume can have a poor to an ok projection but still have a good sillage when you move.
Is there any online repository that has rated fragrances on these 3 factors? Or do you use these three factors in your review videos?

I am looking for a fragrance with these 3 effects, can anyone make suggestions of fragrance. Thank you
well, every fragrance has these qualities. Some are just stronger than others.
The first fragrance that came to my mind would be Alien by Mugler :)
Givenchy l'interdit
Very helpful video
I beg your pardon but its Seeaaaahhjjj.. read it as i wrote..
Not as spellings..
Regards
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the way I pronounced it is acceptable when speaking to an English-speaking audience.
@@FragranceBros i was just shearing. Rest keep your good work up..
Thumbs up to you 👍👍
the girl in the thumbnail looked curious. 😅
