I would take it a step further and suggest that a mother’s job raising her children to be the best kind of people possible is MORE important than a traditional job, being a girl boss, etc. You won’t get the validation you’re used to getting at a traditional job. If anything, you’ll get way more criticism. BUT, I’ve witnessed my parents first hand receive so many compliments on what a great job they’ve done raising my sister and me. But they only started receiving that kind of validation once we were grown adults out of the house. That’s really the only time you can tell how great you’ve done as a parent! If you’ve raised good adults who contribute positively to society and are generally happy about life and themselves. Parenting is the biggest commitment you can make in life. But I would choose it over getting validation at a job any day. And that’s coming from a former girl boss who still occasionally relies on her career performance as self validation. Thank you Lindsey for choosing to discuss this and opening up the conversation because it is such an important topic.
