I recently watched an amazing video about Christmas cactus and I must say, it was truly impressive! The video showcased the beauty and versatility of these plants in such an engaging way. The way the video captured the different stages of growth, from blooming to sprouting, was simply stunning. It was evident that the video was made with a lot of care and attention to detail, as every shot was perfect and showcased the Christmas cactus in its most natural form. I loved how the video also provided insightful tips on how to care for these plants, making it not only visually appealing but also informative. Overall, I highly recommend this video to anyone looking to learn more about Christmas cactus or just looking to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Great informative video. I'm Dale from Lake Charles, LA. I was given one by my sister last Christmas and it didn't bloom. I didn't know how to make it bloom, so I'm now watching videos to teach me for next Christmas, which is a while away since it's only June 1, 2022. BTW, is that a PLUMERIA I see growing on the right side of the screen just to the rear of the row of Christmas cactus?? If now, never mind. I have 4 plumeria cuttings that I have successfully rooted since about the middle of March. I know they've rooted b/c they're putting out leaves already! I bought them from a grower in Hawaii via Etsy. One is even putting out an inflorescence as its first growth. I guess it was the luck of the draw that one of the cuttings was about to send out a bloom just before it was cut from the plumeria tree. The color variety is "rainbow" and one flower is already unfolded today and is so pretty. I can't wait for the whole stalk to come into bloom! 😍

Or you could live in Britain where the cooler autumn weather and the longer nights provide what the Christmas cactus wants, I just avoid watering in October completely and restart in November. It's worked so far, last year my Christmas cactus was blooming from late November until easter this year.

Wow that must be nice. Perfect conditions. If I were you I would be buying a bunch of different cultivars since you get to enjoy the bloom period for such a long time. If you don't have the variety "samba brazil" I highly recommend buying a cutting online. I have it and it is absolutely as beautiful as the pictures if not more. You can have a pretty decent sized pot in a matter of two years just from a single cutting.

I have tried to use the darkness method and it really worked! But now I used the cold method, it would be much easier. Just leave them outside until the temperature drops to under 50 and the flower buds all over the plants!

Ive read elsewhere that they're not standard cactus as they grow in tropical climates, so having moisture and humidity is encouraged. This means they're more suited to a regular potting soil with added perlite/things to support drainage, but regular soil us better as it still holds some moisture. What do you think?

I had a leaf from a friend that rooted and planted. a year later I now have 17 leaves and it's about 6 inches tall. I could snap off 4 branched sections from it and plant around the base to help fill the pot out a bit ... how many plants do you recommend for one-pot? would a clump of 5 plants in one pot be overdoing it? (its the hot pink variety thanksgiving plant)

We've had our Christmas cactus for 17 years. However root rot has taken over. We're trying to propagate several cuttings as not to lose more than what we had. I think it lived its best life in the 10" pot but was never quite itself after I put it in a larger pot yet. I would like to propagate several cutting back into the 10" pot. In your opinion, how many cuttings can I start in one pot? Thanks in advance.

While those do look very impressive and appealing I don’t mind if mine doesn’t flower for a while. I want to produce a super healthy plant first. Good thing I got a massive pot with 4 thick woody branches and about 15 inches of growth for 4$ at a greenhouse. So I might try this method after I root some clippings.

All of the cactuses are in the same spot in the house. Soil is not wet just slightly moist to touch. It is not root bound and is in the same size and in the same pot as its counterpart which is doing great. Any suggestions on how to revive it?
