One thing Biden did, that I think only he truly could have accomplished, was to organize very wide ranging and seriously impactful sanctions against Russia when it invaded Ukraine. Within two weeks massive bank accounts had been locked up, trade stopped, Russia in shock despite having prepared for it to happen eventually. No it wasn't perfect, but it was a massive economic strike and at a frightening speed and scale. Imagine what would happen to the US markets if that was even threatened against the US. Just talking about such dire plans would make huge waves. The tighter integration of large money transfers and world markets has made this sort of threat have real and tangible meaning. It's a big f'ing red button and would cost those that push it as well, but.. it's there now.
Yet any of these platforms can stick an advert in front of you relevant to something you searched for, or even just mentioned, within minutes?! Your statement is completely untrue. They just put all their efforts in to things that make money, not the safety of users.

Whilst I am in general agreement with your point, I find it fascinating that when the US Congress and political parties are divided on pretty much *every* issue, except for indiscriminate and unwavering support for Israel, no matter what they do, when many of the senior officials are nationals of Israel, when congress officials can wear IOF uniform (i.e. a foreign country's uniform) into Congress and be celebrated for it, when AIPAC openly claims it controls all the senators and can make/break the careers of any politician, when the major media publishers have clear ties to Israel... when it's said that Zionists are controlling the world (largely based on their own actions and statements), it's instantly dismissed as some kind of conspiracy-level anti-semitic trope?? Weird how much cognitive dissonance you have until there's little choice left other than to recognise it. It was the same with the IOF massacre of Palestinians... took you a while to recognise the actual brutality of it, except you still keep framing it in context of Oct 11, as though that's when everything started, when in reality Palestinians were living through that pretty much daily for decades.

You can't but help to think of the old saying about absolute power and corruption. I think in their early days all of the billionaires in that second row were just considered as guys who had a great idea that turned to gold. But now they all seem to be doing whatever helps them keep their hold on that gold and position of power. They've gone from being individuals people looked at as geniuses solving our modern problems to modern day robber barons. What ethics they may have started out with have become twisted and corrupted.
But not enough headroom for us to be able to absorb the inevitable sanctions that would follow. The largest contributor to the IMF is America and they would rightly set fresh elections as one of the preconditions for a Bailout.
I think the phone companies and internet service providers should also take their part of the blame. Rudakubana wouldn't have had access to any of that material of it wasn't for them.
It’s time to unplug the internet. As I sit here wishing that things could be prevented from changing from how they were I realise that that is conservatism. My swing starts here!
Anyone with billions has not paid enough taxes, especially when so many go hungry. We are collapsing into chaos with these super billionaires. " Get 'em up against the wall "
When will the billionaires be charged 40- 50% income taxes , like the normal people . These billionaires are the ones who have eaten up most of the jobs , and small & middle sized businesses.
With a piece of brass, a dash of lead sprinkled with coal, sulfur and cotton.. "But, but, but.. That's.." Yes. The thing is, as they themselves have said for ages, it's either us or them. "But. but, but, that's wrong and I can't do wrong things" That's on you. They are doing everything they can and a few extra hours to climb the ladder, to survive, to create the climate where they can thrive. If you don't have anything to counter this change, if you refuse to act, that not their fault, that's your fault. Omelette and eggs.
Having dealt with a narcissist for years, I can tell you that seating arrangements are a demonstration of power. I am sure that it was arranged by Trump himself and that it shows that the tech bros are his inner circle and that the cabinet is secondary and perhaps even irrelevant.
Spot on as usual. The best way to limit the power of major tech companies and "put the genie back in the bottle" through regulatory measures would be, in my opinion, to have a coordinated global government set of actions that does three things: 1) Make having more than a certain limit of assets and holdings (let's put it at $999M US for sake of argument) practically illegal on a personal level, where every asset beyond that limit is fined and taxed and seized so that we no longer have a "billionaire" class. 2) Turn the internet into a globally government run public utility, where your contribution to the maintenance and preservation of it depends on the amount of space and use you or your company takes up, and where regulators have more tools to track and remove content deemed a public harm. 3) Run a global campaign of antitrust designed to break apart the major multinational corporate giants (like Amazon and Alphabet) into regional companies that could still dominate the regional market but gives new startups and innovators space to set up and grow instead of being immediately crushed by forces outside their country.

It would probably require, the UK, Canada, the EU (minus Hungary😉) and heck, even Mexico....to get together and say fine, let's play your game but we're all working together.
As kids we played "pig in the middle."

The number of posts on major platforms makes it pretty much impossible to remove all violent material
Yet any of these platforms can stick an advert in front of you relevant to something you searched for, or even just mentioned, within minutes?! Your statement is completely untrue. They just put all their efforts in to things that make money, not the safety of users.
Perhaps using some of your few hundred billion to employ staff.
The first thing is *"stop ANY"* projects from Tesla & stop selling/buying them.
When someone drink drives, you don't argue Toyota should put a breathalyser in every car. His parents knew what he was doing. The authorities knew what he was doing. Why did they allow him to use the internet in he first place? Why wasn't he locked up in a mental institution? Tired of people blaming tech companies for parents and the governments laziness and incompetence
A pardon doesn't clear them of the charges, it confirms that they were guilty and that the conviction was cancelled.
Actually, what you have described is when a sentence is commuted, that's when the original charge remains on record. A Pardon DOEScompletely wipe the record clean. It's why the so-called QANON Shaman declared immediately upon release that he was going to exploit his new, charge-free record to go and buys guns! Best to check these things before you post! Smh
Just technical words either way they’re back home with they’re loved ones.
Censorship isn’t the issue, it’s the lack of fully funded mental health services
James wasn't saying this about Soros. In fact, he claimed anyone who believed Soros was involved in financing politics for his own ends was deluded and a conspiracy theorist.
You cant stop them, but you can be competitive, which makes you equal and respected...
You loose. Woke is finished. Soon James will be kicked aside as well
Woke is yr own illusion. Yr illusion may fade but reality remains.
Never use Amazon and give everyone in a Tesla a Paddington stare 🐻
Excellent editorial.
American Oligarchy.
Starmer is obsessed with pandering to people who won't vote for him...
You're going off the presumption that online platforms actually want grotesque violence to be viewed, they don't want that, it's terrible for business!
Yeah, they're all doing so badly, with all this terrible content on their platforms, aren't they?! What are you talking about?!
Jane Fonda explained how to deal with these people. But decorum says it's not right and they earned their place fair and square.
Thoroughly amused at centrists waking up about twenty years too late
Be careful James, dont want to get caught up in any legal matters now, not with these guys.
Reminds me of The Joker releasing the Arkham Lunatics from the asylum. What we need is a Batman, and i'd bet there's plenty of folks out there who fancy being him. It's going to be a rocky few years but hopefully not too much beyond that ?
Could you not have saved that rant for a thread that was actually about Israel?! Why bring this up here? Stay on topic.
Limit sale of knives.
Most ubiquitous item on planet come on man
But all the tech billionaires will scream FREE SPEECH, FREE SPEECH
It's funny to see these people acting as if this is brand new. When that's all they've been doing.
They'll all fall out with each other. Narcissists always do
They currently have NO security because they think they're not on anyone's hit list, so now would be the perfect time to act accordingly, before any of them wise up.
He should have said , "When capitalism is sick, fascism runs to it's bedside."
Absolutely sickening!!! We’ve gone down a dark hole from which there’s no escape. The governments should no consider banning & bringing these tech companies to justice!!
It’s too late. You can’t stop them. Just stop paying attention to the world’s problem and spend time trying to enjoy your life. James seems like he needs a holiday he is angry at everything
As they can defy the spirit of most laws, there is enough law in place in the UK to ban each of these offending Social media sites immediately.
But not enough headroom for us to be able to absorb the inevitable sanctions that would follow.
The largest contributor to the IMF is America and they would rightly set fresh elections as one of the preconditions for a Bailout.
we can't. they won.
Keeping calm and listening to Gary Economics
Had no idea about the drug guys pardon. Words fail me. The lunatics are indeed running the asylum…
Deny, Defend, Depose?
I think the phone companies and internet service providers should also take their part of the blame. Rudakubana wouldn't have had access to any of that material of it wasn't for them.
Knife makers, UBER that gave him a lift there, his parents for having a child, the Romans who built the roads? Where do you draw the line of blame?
@mensor blame everyone but the perpetrator. That's the only line.
Trump...
The real deal.
81 Million "legal" votes ? WHO REALLY STILL BELIEVES THAT ? I'm sure every commenter here.
It’s time to unplug the internet. As I sit here wishing that things could be prevented from changing from how they were I realise that that is conservatism. My swing starts here!
Starmer recognising the rule of law ... unless it comes to big corporations or Israel!
Muskolini.
The most simple thing we can do is make them pay their taxes. Something Starmer won’t do.
Oh and shut down Twitter.
The only way you defeat billionaires is class solidarity. Except most americans are explicitly opposed to anything that benefits their own class
On a list of bad things South Africa is known for, Apartheid might not to stay at the top for long.
Apartheid is a crime against humanity.
The people must vote for anyone who opposes billionaires and their agenda.
Oih Jim careful @ 1:55 ifin it weren't for the crooked digit, I could have sworn, you were showing solidarity with Elon😂😂😂
Change the law so that if you can't show a profit (Taxable income) as a business then you can't pay out a dividend to shareholders
The direction of the sycophancy isn't obvious to me. It is not clear who is bending the knee to whom.
regulate and tax the rich
With a piece of brass, a dash of lead sprinkled with coal, sulfur and cotton.. "But, but, but.. That's.." Yes. The thing is, as they themselves have said for ages, it's either us or them. "But. but, but, that's wrong and I can't do wrong things" That's on you. They are doing everything they can and a few extra hours to climb the ladder, to survive, to create the climate where they can thrive. If you don't have anything to counter this change, if you refuse to act, that not their fault, that's your fault. Omelette and eggs.
Two cases out of how many million users?
Emotional manipulation. Fear mongering
The best way to limit the power of major tech companies and "put the genie back in the bottle" through regulatory measures would be, in my opinion, to have a coordinated global government set of actions that does three things:
1) Make having more than a certain limit of assets and holdings (let's put it at $999M US for sake of argument) practically illegal on a personal level, where every asset beyond that limit is fined and taxed and seized so that we no longer have a "billionaire" class.
As Maria Hyde has said, tittok being able to be Switched OFF has proved that the internet is controllable and sites CAN be shutoff
Welcome to dystopia. We are doomed.
