  • Flashbacks rendered in hand drawn 2D animation will never not go hard. And yeah, that's Alan Oppenheimer as King Grayskull. Sounds quite a bit like Skeletor when consumed by Havoc.

      There one actor i always had in mind for Skeletor in my idea for A he-man reboot is robert foxworth as i feel his voice and tone would fit the role of skeletor well and it would fit close to the original 80's actor

    • @dragonstormx
      @dragonstormx Год назад +18

      I don't get what the point of King Grayskull being in Revelations was anyways. He add some worldbuilding that doesn't amount to much.
      In this, King Grayskull was set up as big deal with what are told about how the current conflict with Skeletor is continuing the same war between Grayskull and Havoc that the king fought with the snakes. And in this season we got a good twist about Eldress killing Grayskull, implying he might not have been as heroic as we first thought, then we saw it's because he embraced Havoc himself, he was the hero who proceeded He-Man, and the villain who preceded Skeletor since using what Hiss left behind was just a stepping stone for Skeletor obtaining Grayskull's legacy.

    Gonna say this, Alan Oppenheimer voiced king Grayskull in the series as hero and villain was awesome, he really did make a good impression and the way his original Skeletor voice is put in the King's fall in to evil, darkness and havoc is just a master piece

  • @dragonstormx
    @dragonstormx Год назад +63

    I see lots of praise for the fan service with Alan Oppenheimer, the original voice of Skeletor, voicing King Grayskull, who turns out to be the original Skeletor in this series. The casting decision was clever, but something else I want to praise about this compared to Revelation is when it had a version of King Grayskull appear, it was just world building for its own sake.
    In this show, Grayskull also looked like he was just going to be a hero in the background who just acted as He-Man's predecessor. Then we got the twist that Eldress killed him, which rather than revealing a dark side to the series mentor, instead set up a dark side to Grayskull since it turns out he was the predecessor to Skeletor as well.
    King Grayskull was a pointless addition to Revelation. In this show, even if he's no longer alive he's an essential part of it.

    I replayed this scene over and over again when I watched this episode. Alan Oppenheimer has perfect weary gravitas as King Grayskull, and having him slip into Skeletor after being fully posessed by the Havoc was a masterful touch. And then you hear the regret in his voice at the very end. It was great to hear him exercise his vocal range in this after he was underused in "Revelations".

      that's right
      King Grayskull was the first known human to wield "the power" and he fought the Snakemen, but ultimately, it was the invader from another dimension, Hordak, who defeated the Snakemen and became the biggest threat Grayskull ever faced
      Grayskull was able to defeat Hordak and seal him away in a dimensional prison called Despondos, and when Grayskull died, he passed "the power" onto his followers, who became the Council of Elders that governed Eternia before King Randor's royal family came into the picture, Grayskull's wife became the first known Sorceress and kept her husband's power sword as the key to unleashing "the power"
      after Keldor's rebellion, the Elders decided it was safer if they "disappeared", so they "vanished", leaving the current Sorceress (who was Tela's mother in secret) to guard Castle Grayskull, which became the base of "the power"

    • @firxanza5172
      @firxanza5172 Год назад +1

      in the more popular version, King Grayskull was a "true hero through and through"
      he was the first known human to wield "the power", so those wielders that came after him claim "the power" is of Grayskull
      King Grayskull and his comrades fought King Hiss and the Snakemen, but it was ultimately a "greater evil", Hordak, who defeated the Snakemen
      King Grayskull then defeated Hordak and banished him to the Despondos dimension with "the power"
      when King Grayskull died, he passed "the power" to his comrades, who became the Council of Elders, and his wife, who would become the first Sorceress of Castle Grayskull
      the Elders created the Hall of Wisdom to act as their base of operations and defended Eternia from many threats, they sealed King Hiss and the Snakemen away after encasing Serpos in stone
      when Keldor sought to destroy the Elders and take over Eternia, the Elders decided to transform themselves into "the power" and turned the Hall of Wisdom into Castle Grayskull, leaving the current Sorceress (Teela's mom) to guard "the power" and guide the next person chosen to wield it
