1:02:25 I also check fuel prices when I'm in an area where there's usually cheap fuel - but there's also an app for comparing fuel prices that makes it very easy to do so. Another reason for your father to get a new phone! He could save so much more money with that.
Yeah, IMAGINE THAT! My father would always wait to save a penny per gallon if possible. Had another Old War Story, "You Really Should Stop For Gas, Dad" where he gambled and lost, and then almost lost his life before deciding it was a really bad idea to try to run across 6 lanes of oncoming traffic. All to save a Shekel! Yeah, yeah, a Shekel _shaved_ is a Shekel _shearned._ Still, for a guy who fills up when the season changes, come on. He liked to use the WAZE app so he'd be kept abreast of red light cameras. I do it the old fashioned way, I simply don't go through red lights, camera light or not. I definitely don't need ANOTHER nanny system looking after me, it's bad enough with the ABS, traction control and airbags.
@@jaykay18 hahahaha yeah! I've never completely run out of fuel in any of my cars. And with my Mercedes, I have two fuel systems in it, one is the regular gasoline fuel system it was born with, plus the LPG (propane butane stuff that you use for your BBQ) fuel system. The LPG stuff is wayyyy cheaper than gasoline here (I'm saving about 0.70€ per liter....in gallons and dollars that would be a saving of $2.80 per gallon!). If the LPG fuel system runs out, my Mercedes will switch back to gasoline, and I always keep the gasoline tank full for maximum range and no range anxiety. If I needed to, I could drive 750 miles with both fuel tanks filled up (albeit half of it would be expensive gasoline which my inner cheapskate would hate to do). I can proudly say that the Mercedes uses as much gasoline as the engine burns oil, cause I've tweaked the LPG fuel system to almost never use gasoline in the engine (except when it's super cold outside as there's an evaporator chamber that's heated by the engine coolant and if that's still too cold, it could freeze up the LPG system).
@@nerdywolfi LPG isn't really a thing here unless it's a fleet car, and even then, there's not many. Propane here costs about 25 bucks for an exchange (20lb. cylinder with 15. lb propane), a refill of a tank costs about 5 bucks more. The County buses use LPG, or at least they used to. Now they're testing electric ones that have the propensity to catch fire. Gasoline here is up, the other day I saw it for $3.89 per gallon. Previously it was more like $3.49.
@@jaykay18 Interesting! That's quite a high price for LPG, and quite low for gasoline - at least from my point of view. Here, gasoline usually costs about 1.70€ per Liter ($6.76 per gallon) compared to LPG which is 0.97€ per Liter ($3.86 per gallon). So if your father complains about high fuel prices and how bad things are for him, just tell him that others have it wayyyyy worse regarding fuel pricing 😅
@@nerdywolfi Yep, it's backwards here on this side of the pond. Go figure. That is very true--others do have it way worse, but I don't think he's concerned about them as long as he can save a Shekel or 82356!

Oh man, talk about stepping over a dime to save a penny! At this point, I'd be thrilled to _only_ have a $98 cable bill. Yeah, Fuddrucker's was consistent. Never had a bad meal there either. Of course, being that we liked it, it gets discontinued. I had a funny one while typing to someone I was going to Fuddrucker's. It came up on spell speck, did you mean: seersuckers, cocksuckers. Of course, took a screenshot, and did the whole ROFLcopter bit. That is interesting how different 70 years old is from one to the next. I would imagine the use it or lose it had to contribute to your mom's mobility issues. I went to visit my Uncle, 72, and he was doing some wiring on a new wall he just got done building, while going though cancer treatment. He keeps getting up, and going each day, even though the treatment is very hard on him.
Yes sir, a la "Cheaper Is More Expensive"! Me too, with that cable bill. Fudd's was awesome while they were here. There's one in NJ, about an hour and a half away. Keep meaning to go just for a day trip. By the time the food, gas and tolls, probably almost $100. The autocorrect/spell check, man that's awesome! Generally it can help but sometimes it just gets it all wrong. Like AI. Way too wordy and sometimes goes down the wrong track and you get plenty of misinformation. Oh definitely. Fran never used it and she lost it. As it was, when grandma was in her 80s and Fran was in her 50s, grandma would run rings around her. I just had a "use it or lose it" here. My ancient Pentium 4 machine's days are very numbered. When I got that machine, from a customer at Tiny Middle who didn't want it fixed for simply a bad hard drive, it was better than what I had, so I went with that. Meanwhile, my friend Matt gave me a machine also, back around the same time, that could run rings around that Pentium 4. I can't explain how, with just about every capacitor on the motherboard blown, it still runs. It needs to be decommissioned not because it's going to pop, but because it can no longer run the software I need. So I took a look at the Matt machine. When he gave that to me, I set it up as a "drop-in replacement". But the time never came. IT'S NOW ELEVEN YEARS LATER. Turns out, that machine is no better than my video editing rig, which is no great shakes. If that weren't enough, it wouldn't power up! Power supply died just sitting around. So bought one of those and fixed it. But I have another machine, from tallboyyyy that's a bit worse in terms of specifications, but will fulfill my needs for the meantime. Fixed that one up as well, it's ready to go. Today, we had a past-the-season Octember. The monitor died. That also has been on its last legs. It's done now. SOMEHOW I have to lift that lead weight off the desk and take it out to the garbage. Not a good time. I also regret doing this but I am going to have to replace it with an LCD and I'm not going to like it.
