I'm just starting my quail journey so I've been looking & buying what I need to raise quail. This looks like the perfect feeder. Thanks for the info!
Hello @Food Foresters. I am glad I found you, I was looking for how to make a feeder the quail cant throw food everywhere!! I have Subbed and look forward to checking out your channel. Nice To Meet You!
Thank you. This feeder did work good for us. It’s a mini version of the feeder we are se for our chickens ducks and turkeys. We will have to check out your channel
By far best and easiest idea I've seen so far and i looked for some time :) thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching
Absolutely creative..Thank you for sharing the process
Backyard Gardening thanks for watching
What a brilliant idea! I'll be picking up these suppiles and making a pair of them this weekend! Love it, thank you so much for sharing!
crystalwolf2006 thanks for watching. Good luck
How did it work? I might make a square one to save space. Any improvement suggestions on the design?
❤
WOW Thank you Quail are SO wasteful and this will work wonderful. Great job! ! ! !
Thank you for watching
Great video! Right to the point. I’m going to follow your design
Thank you
OH yeah its works i have made one today and no waste at all. thank you
leo perez I’m glad it works for you
I like that the entire bucket holds food.
How many inches is the gap between the inner pipe and bottom of the bucket?
So easy! Great video and a good way to save money!
That looks pretty good 👍
Thank you
They went right to it. I need to make some of these.
It is really working pretty good so far. Let me know how it works for you if you make one.
Great design! Any improvements, or disadvantages you found?
Great job 💯💯👍👍👍👍
Thank you
The Best video Thank u
Thank you for watching
What kind of feed is that ? Set up looks good
👍Good job
Thank you
I hear they're messy eaters. Hey how often does mark 1 work right? Great design work.👍
Yeah I just needed to work the bugs out of it. The 2.0 is working pretty good though
Great job. We're about to hatch out our first batch of quail. They are jumbo coturnix. Do you think we would need higher holes since they're a little taller?
You may go a little higher but I wouldn’t go to high. And good luck.
I’m going to make a box outside the cage save some space and easily fill without opening the doors. But same principle. A clear container would be best so you can see feed levels. My quail are outside and the rodents are a problem so I have 1/2” wire cages for this reason.
Excellent idea sir.
Not trying to be a safety troll but you could surely find a way to clamp that fitting. I do like your idea.
Yes you are right probably should have clapped it down.
On your video I see a automatic watering system from a soda bottle. Did you make the red attachments or is it something I can buy. I would like one for my quail cage....
The sell them on amazon they are pretty cheap. And work pretty good.

Here is a link to the items, they also come in a 4 pack and some you can pick your color... Hope this helps-Amy
is it still working good? was it a success?
Leda Kerrigan yes it did work pretty good. The thin plastic bucket did last very long in the Florida weather though. I need to find a bucket that thicker.
You used the 1 1/4 pvc? Or 2”. Looks like a great idea.
1 1/4” seems to be the perfect size
@Foodforesters. Is that 1-1/4" pvc inside hole Diameter or 1-1/4" outside pvc Diameter of the 90??
what is the distance from the bottom of plastic container for the hole?
It’s about a inch and a half. But that will also depend on your 90’s.
What’s in the water dispenser?
Just regular water from our well
How many quail, and how long does the food last in that bucket?
Oh it lasts a week. But how many quail?
It’s been a while but I believe I had 24 in the big side. But it did cut down on the waist a lot.
I did it in black 1 1/2 inch and the quail couldn’t find food. I even put food on the edge. There are no 1 1/4 inch of those pipe fittings person said, where did you get yours. I’m thinking of trying this without the lip.
Johanna Samansky I picked it up at True Value hardware. My quail eat out of them just fine. 1 1/2 should work just fine too
How did the feeder work out?
Crested Constellations these feeders worked pretty good.
Did it cut back on waste?
Yes it did cut the waist down. But it wasn’t perfect.
@FoodForesters. You said it wasn't perfect. What changes would you make to make it better???
What do you put in your water feeder for quails?
1991syna water. When they are young or I think they are sick I add a slash of apple cider vinegar.
It has been a year.... so compared to other methods, how did this work out fo a no waster feeder?
This one worked best for us. I tried some others that was less waste but was a pain to deal with.
How many quail in that cage? How many of these would you need for 25 quails?
Tomislav Puhalo this cage can handle 25 quail easily. The only mistake I made with this cage is I made it to tall. You only need it to be 8 to 12 inches tall.
@@FoodForesters Thanks for replying so soon. I really like your design, I just have a few more questions. So if you had 25 birds in the one cage with only one of these feeders, would the 4 feeding holes in the bucket be sufficient for them all? Or would you need more holes, or another bucket perhaps? Basically my question is how many feeding holes are needed for 25 birds?
I have had over 25 birds in the cage and it worked fine for that many birds. But I was having to fill it up every day. So I would use two feeders. So your not always filling it up
@@FoodForesters Thanks
So as of today is this still working good
vangie askren yes it still works good. We butchered all the quail last month but will be getting more this spring
I have tons of them, mine r corturnix, i really want some bobs tho, thank u so much for responding
You are welcome. I’m planning on getting the Meat Makers and see how the do. I had to Jimbo Coturnix quail.
@@FoodForesters how far up from the bottom was the center of your holes we got all the materials and are making ours from a 5 gallon bucket with 6 holes
Here is the link to the chicken feeder it works for chickens ducks geese and turkeys. I show to figure out how high to cut your holes.
ruclips.net/video/QKu1Y5Dr4Fg/видео.html
What sizes r the holes
I don’t remember I just match the hole saw with the fitting
@Foodforesters. I thought you said the 90 was 1-1/4" holes
Sir that was a Sawzall you used not a hacksaw
Thanks if I said hacksaw it was a slip of the tongue lol
@@FoodForesters I thought so but I wasn't sure.
Thank you for your ideas. I am just getting back into doing quail and I want to try and be as conscientious as I need to be. Especially with what's going on right now with monetary problems across the world. Want to be as none wasteful as possible.
They should not be on wire floors
Just cut holes in the box. Everything else is unnecessary
