Heston I feel gutted listening to the misrepresentation of you and your troops that led you down the path of psychological demoralisation, but this has led you to a high purpose in life to help many others who share the same pain you went through and, to some extent, are still going through. When i saw the preview of this episode i wanted to watch this so bad.. Mark you are a brillant interviewer..Heston i have commented on many of your posts and we i'll say it again I not only respect the hell out of you but as a civilian whos Father served in the army i salute you sir
I often wondered if I was sick in the head believing that whilst serving in Vietnam that I was really living. Watching this interview has allowed me to realise just how honed our skills and bodily functions were. Still cannot come to terms with the slackness of civilian life. The peacetime military system needs to be looked at, especially the jealousy of commanders who never experienced combat. Senior commanders need to be instructed in understanding what combat veterans experience and being aware not to belittle troops under their command. This is the quickest way to lose experienced diggers and buggar up morale across the board.
