I absolutely fell in love with this controller when i saw it in the shop, but seeing it in action sealed the deal! I need this! Currently got a Traktor s4 mk2 and got quite a lot of gripes with the software etc. The controller itself is really good but lacks a few features which this controller has!
The stop time knob will get handy when making a smooth transition!

    Hi,
I now use either my Denon MC 6000 MK2 (Bar Gigs) or my Pioneer DJ SX (Mobile Gigs). Love both units, but use the Denon for the bar gigs because it's smaller. It fits better into the small set up areas I have at bars and clubs. Plus with City Streets/parking, it's easier to just walk a distance with the unit in a padded bag over my shoulder.
I haven't used the Denon MC 8000 at a gig, however I tested it at a Guitar Center. I was initially excited to see a unit that didn't need a laptop. The idea of using just a USB Flash Drive for y bar gigs is awesome.
For me, there are positives and negatives to this unit.
    Negatives:
There were several items that that kept me from purchasing this unit is (listed in order of most importance to me).
    1. When using a USB Flash Drive , there is no way to search for a song, if you don't remember what folder you placed the song in. Or sometimes I search by a remixer name to find what I want to play. It needs to have a way to type out a name of a song, artist, remixer, remix, etc. when using a flash drive.
    2. I only considered purchasing this unit so that I wouldn't have to bring a laptop to my events. However (besides #1), the unit only allows use of a USB Flash Drives for 2 channels. What happens if one channel goes bad at a gig? How am I going to mix with one channel that is left? I would need to bring a laptop as a backup. That defeats the purpose of want I would like to accomplish. I f I must bring a laptop, then I may as well keep using what I have.
    3. I was told by the GC rep that in order to use the full functions of the unit with a USB Flash Drive, I would have to prep the songs in the Denon Software first. I don't want extra work to do. Sometimes I purchase tracks right before leaving to a gig, or I am just too busy on a given week to prep the tracks through another software ahead of time. Wish it was a plug and play situation for the USB Flash Drive, for all the features.
    4. Slightly larger than I had hoped for. It's OK for Mobile gigs, but I may run into some set up issues at Bars/Clubs due to the size of it. Plus a bit bulky to walk with in city areas, where you sometimes don't have load in zones.
    5. Price Point at $1,200 is a bit high. Probably should be at $999 or slightly less.
Numbers 1 through 3 were crucial to me. I'm going to wait to see what the next generation improves on.
    Positives:
    1. Very Solid Built. Feels and looks Professional. Rugged.
    2. Great Sound Quality / Sound Card
    3. Smooth Knobs and Slides
    4. 2 mics with their own channels is great
    5. Lots of good Effects
    6. Easy to use, short learning curve.
    7. Stand Alone Mixer
    8. Jog wheel and Pause/Play buttons felt good
    9. Effect Pads felt good.
    10. Mulitple Output types and Lots of Inputs.
    11. Denon reputation

The MCX8000 over-all features are great, people complain about the jog wheels a lot, I cant agree with the complains. I have a DDJ-SZ2 & its two different feels. DJs just have to learn to adjust. The Denon's cross-fader & up-faders are terrible on the 8000. I'm on my second cross-fader in less than a year. I had a DDJ-SX2 prior & in 2 years I never had to change anything , cross-fader never bleed. I played some major venues with the 8000 but stopped for a few reasons. If you are a real DJ you know how important it is to have fully functioning equipment especially in higher-end venues. I never had the 8000 freeze in the middle of a gig but it did freeze up towards the end of a few big ones. Thank god I had my aux cord in my laptop & some good QSCs, I had to completely reload Serato DJ. So the trick is to totally shut down the laptop after every gig, the 8000 is not hot swappable like much of the pioneer gear and a bump of the USB or not properly loading or closing Searto DJ, its a chance you will have issues at some point of a 4hr set. The Mics are way to loud & have to adjust on this controller, which has always been an issue with Denon gear in my opinion. You have to bring the mic level way down in order to avoid feedback. This review is good but in my opinion 16 yrs in the game the 8000 is not setup for touring & everyday club gear. UNLESS you are a beginner DJ that just press buttons & go song to song then this is the controller to have its features & displays are the best in my opinion. If you are a Professional DJ looking for technic reliability & you are interested in the 8000. I strongly suggest change out the faders to start to mini-Innofaders I hear is hell to setup after installed, upgrade to Serato DJ Pro with DVS & get a 2013 or Higher MacBook Pro. you shouldn't come across many issues or do what I did & invest in a SZ2 . I ordering another Denon Fader for my 8000 may put it in the studio for mixtapes or sell it not sure yet. Controllers I do suggest are Denon MC4000 & MC7000, Pioneer SR2, SX2, SZ, SZ2, Numark NS7, Roloand 808 , played on them all, this is some great gear.....

Thing is i keep most of my music on flash drives and not my pc but they are opposite. Whats the best controller for this type of setup. Allow me to have my fun and learn using my flash drives but also let my friends get some good work in with their laptops. Preferably around the $1000 or lower market

    • @RealDJblaze

@@RealDJblaze Thank you for your fast reply, I am trying to isolate just the mic in an external recorder from the other audio that is playing in the MCX8000. I was hoping that I could send only the mic to the RCA output jack. I am thinking I will just hook the mic into the recorder before it goes into the MCX8000, split it off.

hey whats up love the review. Question about the post effects. Are you saying it only works in line not in the fader from the engine software. How about in serato dj software mode. Will it then work in line and fader ??? Im stuck between this and the pioneer ddjsx2. Im just loving the denon but i need my post effects. Let me know. Thanks

Hi Blaze! I'm new to all this stuff and I'll buy my first DJ controller. I have an Audio Technica AT-LP-1240 turntable. I want to play & mix both from my turntable and also from, say, 2 separate USB sticks -all 3 sources- at the same time and record this flow into a fourth device, for example a hard drive. Can I just do it with this controller without using a laptop? Thank you very much!

    • @RealDJblaze
      @RealDJblaze  4 года назад

Yes and no... You won't be able to scratch the music from your USB sticks using the turntables and a controller like this or the PRIME 4... You can switch one of your inputs to Serato DJ mode and use a laptop for timecode on your external deck while still using the USB sticks to DJ from on other decks in the MCX8000. You need a computer to be able to do timecode from your turntables still...

This is good to know. At Dj Tech tools.com there is a TSI file for it. The person that made the file states (in a few words that IT IS BUGGY). I believe that the people that are reviewing these equipment should inform its viewers that the equipment is or is not, or is somewhat compatible with other Dj softwares, and to what degree. My self and many other Dj's depend on you and (other reviewers) for concise information on the Dj products and its compatibility, allowing all Dj's that follow you (and the other reviewers) to make better decisions on what to get. Your review information is invaluable to the Dj world! Thank you for getting back in contact with me. It is very much appreciated. Keep up the great work. :)

    • @Lordblanca
      @Lordblanca 7 лет назад

Ok, that means you're not going to take the extra step in providing more information to your viewers about the products that you review and the compatibility with the other Dj softwares. You are talking about an additional 30 seconds to a minute that would add to your vlog. This will let your viewers know the compatibility of other DJ software and their compatibility with the hardware.. Are you or are you not a Traktor user as well as per your vlogs. I guess it's all about you and not your viewers. As you said in your comment above (I do this because I wish there was youtube reviews around when I was starting out and buying a bunch of crap equipment). Is this telling me and the rest of your viewers that you're not going provide better information on the products. Or this is all you're giving the people that made you the youtube success that you are today.
      Thank you for your time.

That's not what I'm saying... I review DJ gear based on the software that they are meant to be used with. There are all types of hacks and personalized ways to make things work with other software, but if I did that, then I would have to cover this with Virtual DJ, Traktor, Serato, Algorriddim, DJAY, Mixvibes, and whatever else people want. I'll only do that if the manufacturer advises a person to do so. If not, then I'm not doing all of that. Sorry...
