I wish we were taught to grow our own food in school. I feel like I wasted my entire student life learning useless things. Yes, we're all educated in Math and sciences, history and all that jazz, but dang, Ben isn't only well-educated, but he has life skills a lot of us are lacking, plus he is a creative and speaks at least three languages! Most of us can't even grow our own food or build our own houses. I'm living vicariously through your way of living, Ben. Keep it up. My heart leaps every time I hear you speak the Ilocano language. I am not fluent, but it reminds me of home. I also love that you always incorporate our ancient writing. I love all your videos as you put so much passion into it. Thank you for sharing your life, your passion to inspire and make every Filipino realize that peace, abundance and happiness are attainable if we just live a life of simplicity, being kind and generous to others, loving your family and respecting nature. Hi! I'm also from Philippines and I wanted to share that students in elementary public schools are being taught how to grow vegetables (We were assigned with plots where we have to grow various vegies and we will be graded on how healthy the vegies are.) I for one was taught how to grow them and there's this merchant dude that comes by the school once in a while to sell seeds or books, I'd often get seeds and grow some plants at home. (I I still love gardening and I have my own little garden at home.) Kids are also taught as a girl/boy scouts how to survive in forest or jungle situation (I live in a province in a humble pueblo near the sea and we have plenty of mountains and brackish waters, me and my friends would often play, by means of fishing by the river with our primitive fishing kits, forage and cook it with our palayok. And yes we eat what we collect and catch,) I wish you could have experienced those.

As always, it is providing us with entertainment and at the same time, educates us on how to live a simple and yet happy life. If the majority of Filipinos would only do what you do, I truly believe that no one would go hungry. There is no need to move to Manila for a better life. It may appear that those living in the metropolis are living a good life but if they're going, to be honest with themselves, the truth of the matter is, they're not really happy... just on the surface but not on the inside. Living in the countryside, helps one avoid becoming materialistic, and that in turn also helps them to avoid becoming greedy. Then on top of that, people in the metropolis eat the most unhealthy food available, full of harmful preservatives, and heavy in sugar or salts and they wonder why they developed illnesses at a young age. You can't beat eating fresh Taro or any vegetables or fruits that just got harvested. You could still have a television set, cellular phone, and a few other modern gadgets that could help you in communicating with others, with friends, doing research, or simply for entertainment even if you're living in the countryside. But at least, you'll avoid the stressful living in the city, the dirty air, and the chemicals that they're consuming without realizing it. In this episode, I learned something new Gayyem Ben, its that Taro dish you prepared. Hopefully, I will remember it and try to make it myself. I do not totally agree with you unless galit ka lang sa mga taga Manila. First of all, it is true that there are a lot of processed foods in Metro Manila, but I do not agree that they are being consumed daily by everyone, if you live in the metropolis area, make your due diligence to go to the wet market daily as early as 4-5am because that's when all the fresh produce are being delivered. How can you be certain that people of the Metropolis only eat processed foods daily, are you one of those people or you just assumed? Second, of course the number of sickly people will be concentrated in the metropolis because the population is more compared to rural areas. And various means of communication are available that's the reason news about certain diseases is being delivered faster but that doesn't mean percentage is more in the metropolis. Lastly, more people from various provincial areas try their luck in Metro Manila because they are not as lucky as Gayyem Ben having their own piece of land. Do ALL people in the province own a land?

This is Bisol in some parts of Mindanao or lutya and gabing puti in Tagalog na panghalo sa sinigang. Meron tong dalawang klase puti at yung may kulay na ;parang small pigments ng purple or pink yung loob nya. Masarap to sa bagoong or fermented na dilis which is ang tawag namin sa Bisaya ay "ginamos" na bolinaw or tamban na isda.

As always, it is providing us with entertainment and at the same time, educates us on how to live a simple and yet happy life. If the majority of Filipinos would only do what you do, I truly believe that no one would go hungry. There is no need to move to Manila for a better life. It may appear that those living in the metropolis are living a good life but if they're going, to be honest with themselves, the truth of the matter is, they're not really happy... just on the surface but not on the inside. Living in the countryside, helps one avoid becoming materialistic, and that in turn also helps them to avoid becoming greedy. Then on top of that, people in the metropolis eat the most unhealthy food available, full of harmful preservatives, and heavy in sugar or salts and they wonder why they developed illnesses at a young age. You can't beat eating fresh Taro or any vegetables or fruits that just got harvested. You could still have a television set, cellular phone, and a few other modern gadgets that could help you in communicating with others, with friends, doing research, or simply for entertainment even if you're living in the countryside. But at least, you'll avoid the stressful living in the city, the dirty air, and the chemicals that they're consuming without realizing it. In this episode, I learned something new Gayyem Ben, its that Taro dish you prepared. Hopefully, I will remember it and try to make it myself. Take care of yourself and may God continue to bless you and your family.

I do not totally agree with you unless galit ka lang sa mga taga Manila. First of all, it is true that there are a lot of processed foods in Metro Manila, but I do not agree that they are being consumed daily by everyone, if you live in the metropolis area, make your due diligence to go to the wet market daily as early as 4-5am because that's when all the fresh produce are being delivered. How can you be certain that people of the Metropolis only eat processed foods daily, are you one of those people or you just assumed? Second, of course the number of sickly people will be concentrated in the metropolis because the population is more compared to rural areas. And various means of communication are available that's the reason news about certain diseases is being delivered faster but that doesn't mean percentage is more in the metropolis. Lastly, more people from various provincial areas try their luck in Metro Manila because they are not as lucky as Gayyem Ben having their own piece of land. Do ALL people in the province own a land?
Ok din naman sa Manila ang problem doon yong nakatira sa squarer Not good quality of life andaming basura yong iba naka tira sa ilalim nang tulay yong iba naman kumakain sa pagpag sana bumalik cla sa province or bigyan cla nang government nang lupa daming bukid sa atin pero naki pag siksikan sa Manila akala maka hanap nang trabaho ang resulta kong saan2 nalang tumira .

I would luv to spend a vacation in your area .. province rural life most people never experience..the delicious simple entrees, the green scenery, the fruits, the dragonfly, the white goats and that relaxing clear river sounds.
