Eric, I am very proud of what the Vols are doing! Watching some of the media, I feel some of the media don't respect what we are doing. I feel we should be getting more respect.
I just can't get over how Heupel continues to address our biggest needs. Remember getting gashed every 3rd down in 2022? Remember the anxiety of this fanbase when half a dozen DBs left in the portal last offseason? Did anyone think our pass defense would be this good? I don't care what any of our fanbase has to say about this team or coaching staff, because I trust them implicitly. Tennessee had a horrendous offense 4 years ago, Heupel addressed it. Heupel came in here, had no pass rush, addressed it. The past two years, Tennessee had an embarrassing defensive backfield, Heupel addressed it (maybe the biggest personnel overhaul I've ever seen in one offseason). We have a freshman QB who is 8-1 with wins against bama and Florida as well as a huge win on the road against Oklahoma. Has it been perfect? No. But as someone who used to appreciate wins over South Carolina and Kentucky, I am beyond excited about this season and the future of this team. We have seen Tennessee have an elite offense. We have seen Tennessee have an elite defense. I have no doubt that we will see our team put it all together over the next 2 years. God it's great to be a Tennessee vol.
On point you are- Coach HYPE and the TENN staff are best in the nation, took that near dead last offense to number 1 in the nation, took the defense to top place also. So many things they have done at TENN that's never been done anywhere before.
Coach HYPE got the VOLS number 1 in SEC standings thru 9 games this year, he took the VOLS to number 1 ranking a couole years ago. He took a near dead last offense to number 1 in the nation- took a bad defense took top place in the country. Beating 2 out of 3 of TENN main big rivals and all this at a school that had a huge scholarship problem with depleted talent...dude is got somthn going on.
To echo the previous poster, I think Coach Heupel is continuely proving that he is a top 3 coach in the SEC. Sure, he has mismanaged a couple of situations but I think we are seeing the growth of a good coach and program manger to an elite level College Football Playoff contender.
My opinion he is the "best" coach in SEC and probably college football. He took a near last offense in nation to NUMBER 1 in a couple years, then took a bad defense to top place in the country all this at a school that had a huge scholarship problem and depleted talent...pretty damned impressive.
I don't know that he's not THE best coach in the SEC, or maybe in NCAA. When you look at what he's done in 4 years, it's nothing short of amazing. I don't think people realize how close we were to being a dead & buried program... It was teetering on complete abandonment. Within 2 years, he had us at a #1 ranking, and now has us in solid contention for Playoffs. We are close to becoming one of the Top 6 places to play in NCAA [OSU, Oregon, Texas, GA, Alabama, TN] which would give us guaranteed longevity (we aren't quite there yet but are getting close). Just a complete 180° to success.
Assuming you do a crossover edition with Locked on Bulldogs later this week, the juxtaposition will be interesting. You come across as very professional. I'll leave it at that.
It was obvious by the play calling and 3 down linemen for much of the game that Banks decided that he was going to force State to beat us by running the ball. 92 passing yards is elite, I think the secondary made a statement, they can’t be considered the weak link.
Our pass defense is one of the most surprising turnarounds in all of college football. Remember the panic after we "lost" (and totally didn't influence mediocre players to transfer) a bunch of DBs? I think it's time we stop questioning this coaching staff because these guys know what they're doing
The VOLS were in position to score at the end of the game but they kneel the clock out. Only 1 team held miss state to fewer points than TENN and only 2 schools had a bigger point spread in victory than the VOLS (that includes 2 other top 10 teams against miss state).
Is D. Samp fumbling simply because every defense we face knows he's gonna get the ball and they are working harder against him than anyone else? Maybe not the most recent, but the first 2 looked like they were doing everything they could to pull it away from him. Everyone seems to be shocked that it's happening, but I'm surprised he hasn't fumbled more. I mean statistically the guy with the most touches should also have the highest fumble count, right?? Love the show I watch every morning with my kids! They say "mom, are we watching knocked on balls?" 😂 3 year olds can't read...
Good job reporting Eric. I was thinking maybe slight strained pectoral when i heard upper body and saw the play. The light sensitivity makes it sound like he got his bell rung ending in a migraine, which is technically a concussion, but it wasnt a lay you out you out 3 weeks type ring your bell. Lets hope he was just going through the freshmen motions and being a little sensitive, and lets get Huep another milestone dub! He beats UGA, and he could lose to Vandy and i will call this season a pure success with approval rating of 98% for 2024. Speaking of, whats vol nation think if we have wins over OU, UF, Bama, and UGA?
I don't believe that goal line play was a missed block by Kitselman. The contain guy crashed, and Kitsselman just took him to the inside and sealed him off.. Lewis just needed to bounce outside and walk in. In other words the back (Lewis) missed the hole.
Also got an interesting question: Lets say Gaston Moore starts on Saturday and a limited Tennessee team loses between the hedges. Would that lose almost be excused? We saw the committee leave an undefeated Flordia State team out of the playoff least year cause the starter behind center went down. Just seems like from an "eye test" perspective its hard to evaluate a team without its starter. Especially one as talented and touted as Nico.
Why do our receivers feel like they have to dive for the football, instead of run through the football and keep running?? Might not get hurt so much,..as well.
Here’s to beating Georgia 🍊🔥 if our Defense can capitalize on Carson beck throwing so many interceptions and make sure they turn the ball over then we will definitely win
Where is Jake Merklinger in development.??? I never hear him discussed. Also we need to can that old Notre Dame split six defense look. When we were in it, their guards had angles on our tackles, took one of our linebackers out with motion, and blocked the other linebacker with the blocking back...for a touchdown, and two long runs right up the middle.
It’s weird TN doesn’t have “a guy” they go to or that has the majority of receiving yards/TDs like basically every other teams has 😢. Sucks seeing Bru get 1-2 catches a damn game too
Why is no one giving kicker credit. He was destroyed when he had a bad stretch no one has given him any credit on a 4 field goal night. One was 51 yards I think. He needs us behind him. As I was watching Sampson in the game seems like he missed the holes did u notice that or am I mistaken
I think Moore can beat Georgia. One the defense is going to tune up a number because they are going to rise up to help offense. 2 Moore knows this offense better than Nico, therefore they can run plays that haven't been ran this year
Georgia blowout. Enjoy the blowout fellow Vols fans. Smh. Another disappointment coming our way. Losing to Ole Miss was the worst thing that could happen. Damn.
VOLS defense will drain the Georgia, already beat up offense. D Samp will drain the Georgia defense late in the game continuing his record breaking ways. He may even challenge Chuck Webb’s record before it’s over. VOLS by a field goal. GBO.
Really hope we have some cryo machines... Sampson needs to live in one for the next 5 days. We need him 100% for GA.

Go Big Orange, another under 20 lets effing go
It was very cool to have finally met you Eric. Thank you for what you do my man, GBO and beat Georgia.

Aren't Mondays supposed to be the Talkin' Vols crossover?
Great content and show, Eric!
G.B.O.

Great show GBO 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊

@@imresoloman633Coach HYPE and the staff have done things at TENN that has never been done at any other school in history.
I was horrified at our D's performance until i took a good look at the final scoreboard. Way to go, boys!

Don’t forget to
Mention our emerging punt return game , I think we’ve found our man
UT seems to always get highly scrutinized by the media

State scored 31 on UGA. We held them to 14 so what is everyone worried about?

How does the SEC tie breaker work?

Was wondering as well , you never hear anything , I’m wondering if they red-shirted him ????
Yep, we got gashed but got the stops…..the end result.
id obviously prefer Nico. but I think we still beat Georgia with Moore. he looked good. no showed no fear
It’s weird TN doesn’t have “a guy” they go to or that has the majority of receiving yards/TDs like basically every other teams has 😢. Sucks seeing Bru get 1-2 catches a damn game too

If Nico is out. Do you think they'll lean heavy on the run game or do you think they'll keep the same game plan with Gaston.
Can you lean any more heavily on the run than we already do?
Gb🍊
GBO
ngl i’d take a overthrow than under no chance of int and i’ve seen to many of those
Georgia running the old Mark Richt offense I never thought Kirby would go backwards, should be easy win for Tennessee.
Linebacker play has not been good the last couple of weeks.
Run up the middle is getting a little predictable….like at the goal line. Come up with something else every once in a while 😂
Georgia blowout.
GBO.
Bs. Its either a blowout win for Georgia coming off a loss or an ugly close game.
Alabama sucks
Yep!!!
We are gonna get our ass kicked in Athens
