- This time we dive into the run and gun genre with one of its best franchises, Metal Slug! SNK's Metal Slug series has been one of my favorites in the arcade since I was a kid, and today I go through all of them and rank the top 5 games in this excellent franchise!

Awesome video! I'm an MS3 guy myself, love that game, but the entire series is killer. I'm ashamed to say I've never played Double X, gonna need to remedy that.
Thank you! MS3 was my favorite for a long time, but X has grown on me more and more with time. XX blew me away when I first played it and it's the one I have the most fun with.

I appreciate that. Funny enough, this has been my most successful video in a while; my videos rarely hit over 300 views in the first couple days so I'm pretty stoked about that.

I don't get the appeal of unlimited continues. It takes a lot of the fun and challenge out of the game. Fortunately, I play Metal Slug Anthology rn on PS2 and I've set the continues to 10. It's so satisfying to get further each time before the continues run out.
Unlimited continues are a life saver when you're trying to make a RUclips video and collect gameplay footage.

I can see why you'd put Double X on the first spot. But there's one reason that brings it down for me: There's only the free play mode (atleast I couldn't find a way to enable the more traditional credit system), which tbh kinda sucks. What's the point if the game doesn't slap me in the face and tell me to start over once i've died more than I thought possible? There's no stakes when a text saying "credit(s) 2" isn't haunting in the corner for the entire run!
I can ofcource restrict myself with my own rules, like not pushing continue after a certain amount of deaths. It works, but it feels off when I'm the one willingly going to the game over screen and not the game just putting me there by force.
For that reason and because I like crabs, Metal Slug 3 is my favorite of the franchise.
XX is still awesome though!
