Fantastic podcast style video, love it. I'm new to cube and have been digging into as much content as possible. Please make more casts like this and put them on Spotify as podcasts!
Love your videos, they've really helped me develop my cube.

This cube is amazing to play. Have a physical copy myself since about 2017. Build it or proxy it, worth it. Trust me.

I noticed you are running very few counterspells (A meager 5 total). Have traditional control decks been serviceable with only 5 counterspells? Is there a reason why you're running Remove Soul over something like Condescend or Arcane Denial?

That's what I get for skipping around the video, I didn't realize this wasn't your cube. My bad.

because they have no clue how to make archetypes work. that said, ususally being reactive works better in pauper, because the removal is better than most counters.

@@humphrex is this suggesting that counterspells as a broad card type are not reactive? I’d argue they’re almost purely reactive.

Maybe not a pauper comment, I host a pioneer peasant cube and I'm always looking for board wipe control cards to sneak in. Check out: Aetherize, Restore the Peace, Slaughter the Strong (recently reprinted uncommon), Death-Rattle Oni, Roil's Retribution, Spinning Wheel Kick...
If people have others comment them below. I am pioneer so crypt rats and stuff is out, but comment any pauper/peasant wipes so I can add them to my brain.

the cube (atleast currently) doesnt seem balanced in power. Many cards are the best ones in pauper and then there are cards like savannah lion?? I understand this is most likely an attempt to keep the power level balanced but IMO you cant do that by having great cards and cards that are awful compared to the great ones. Also the gold section seems bizarre, White has 2 mana instant removal BUT you can get a 3 mana instant arrest for 1UW?? why is the gold section weaker?

There’s a discord where you can talk with the people that make those decisions! I’d guess it’s either:
      1) inertia, it’s been there for a while and people like it. This is a very valid reason.
      2) it’s like that on purpose. If there’s a worse Azorius removal spell than mono white, the Azorius drafter gets passed their removal, or even gets to wheel it, while the mono white removal gets snapped up immediately.

the discord behind the cube is horrible at card evaluation, so the cube ended as a sluggish, boring midrangefiesta. a proper cube meta has fast aggro, midrange and control and even some combo imo. it might be interesting to draft as a novelty, but if you are familiar with paupercubes, it lacks a lot of oomph. as they say in the podcast, its a noob cube that more or less copies standard limited. for some arbitrary reason they dont run bouncelands and signets for example, although they are far from op in a common meta. they also stuff cards from every new set into it, no matter how good they are, so its a diluted unfocused mess. it neither is a spikeish cube, nor a value johnny cube.

@@humphrex who pooped in your cereal? Most of the things you said here are basically true, but you act as though cube is a singular experience with a singular goal. You don’t have to choose between binary options like “spikeish” and “value johnny”. This incarnation of “the pauper cube” isn’t trying to be an airtight curated draft format, it’s trying to be an inviting draft experience with a focus on the magic community. Not all cubes have the same goal.
