Cool video and all, I like the mechanics. But that is not a turbocharger, it's not making any boost for force induction on an engine. Well for that to work, it would need to be combustion, as the reason why turbochargers are so efficient, they push and compress the air into the piston valve, when you have an electric powered lego-motor for a show engine, rather than an engine that uses combustion, the compression of the air has no effect as there is no use for the compressed air

Because you used an open differential as a 90* gear and put the turbine input on the one of the outputs of the differential, and nothing on the other output, while the electric motor and v6 engine are attached to the ring gear, absolutely no power from the turbine is going into the v6 engine. The electric motor alone is driving the engine. Once you locked up the other output, then you had power being transferred. Why use a differential in the first place?

@@Bricks.Master.Builders I don't understand why people have to be so rude. I applaud you for the obvious technical thinking skills involved in creating something that even remotely resembles an actual turbo charger. I'm a mechanic and whereas this doesn't look like the real thing. It does still behave similarly for the most part. I think it was rather clever that you were able to create the same general function and end result with something as simple as Lego. I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who felt like they needed to say "Technically this isn't a turbo charger" actually have no idea how one even works. Sorry for making this comment so long. I just wanted to say, ignore the haters. Because you achieved a functional boost system using toys. I think it's awesome! Thanks for posting,I can't wait to show this video to my son. He loves building with Lego, so I'm gonna see if we can build one together.

That would technically be a procharger

    • @jmiller007

Not really, a procharger is just a centrifugal supercharger, and superchargers are driven by the crank. This is more like a turbine connected to the crank.
