Rex I'm in the process of getting into the transportation industry myself with a sprinter van. I did research get a lot of searching some RUclips and started and thought I had plan ab&c in mind. But things change and they morph. I'm on plan g now. I bought my 2023 170 extended Sprinter and I'm driving part time locally/regionally and still working my full time manufacturing job. It's all good, I'm gaining experience and realizing I'm doing the right thing. I enjoy your honesty brother.
You got into the industry at the worst possible time. There’s very little freight to be moved, and when you can find it, it’s going for super cheap. Hopefully things work out for you in the long run!
@@GarciaMotorFreight but I'm not in the industry. I've been wanting to do this for 2 ½ years. I work at a fiberglass manufacturing facility in Newark Ohio. I make great money but I'm getting near retirement age.... 59 in 2 weeks. I plan on working until I'm 60 because of an incentive from where I currently work. At that point if the industry turns around I might go OTR full time. At 62 I plan on starting receiving social security and scaling back the OTR. I am fortunate that I have options otherwise there no way I would of bought a 66,000$ van this year.
Hi Rex another tip I have is more aimed at prime I would rather see the top seals put on the dome cover instead of the spill box cover I’ve had many shippers over the years not tighten some of the dogs or leave the air valve open which lead to product leaking I check every cover on all loads drive safe Rich from new hampshire
Hi Rex one pointer I can give you is I’ve got into a system when dropping or hooking up trailers do the landing gear first then air lines and pig tail then I check lights and tanker I’ve seen too many drivers forget to put the gear up or down it’s fool proof drive safe Rich from new hampshire
You have a years of experience pulling a tanker. Did you not notice those slow periods that you mentioned? Might be hard since your relative new at this yanker tanker. Hey, like your content. Continue success
I’m curious do you get to choose your loads? Does your dispatch lets you know what loads are available? And you get to choose? If not, what’s the benefit/difference between a company driver and lease driver? Two of the reason I personally want to lease is to build a business credit and be able to choose loads and not have someone have control where I go and how much I’m able to do.
No I don’t get to choose my loads but if I don’t like the load (I can reject it) then another will come through. Company drivers @prime are forced dispatch, lease drivers are not. Hope this helps.
I wanna tank or flatbed but with a tall roof freightliner. The midroof trucks are ass. I have an international LT right now, i hated it at first, but ive gotten used to it its not so bad now. Still want my freightliner tho
You since the beginning that you weren't gonna make money and you weren't gonna be home, you said it in one of you first videos. The trailer issue's come with the territory my guy. I've been driving for 20 yrs you have alot to learn my guy.
I signed up for tanker division but they told me they don't have any tanker trainers right now and they want me to go do my 30,000 with the reefer and then do three weeks with the tanker Trainer. I really don't wanna waste my time in the reefer division.
They’ll probably put you on the food grade side, if you can get on the inedible side go for that. Inedible is a little less work, less bs imo 🤙💯 wish you the best. I know TNT is a drag but it’s a great feeling when you upgrade and get your own truck 💪
@@truckingwithrex ground great to me thank you for responding. I will give updates once I’m ready to go solo. Thank you for all the video and info are very helpful. Blessings
Rex I just got switched from reefer to tanker out with a tanker trainer for 3 weeks, he does food grade, but since you mentioned being through Springfield a lot on inedible side, that’s what I want. When do I tell my fleet manager Kevin this? Do we load/unload any near Kansas City? Thank you
Yeah I get home a lot and don’t even have to ask for home. Yes we get loaded and unloaded in Kansas City not often for me but we have 2 customers near. I would talk to your FM asap let him know you want to go inedible.
$3800 sure isn't alot ,for lease driver, for comparison that's how much even a company driver can make here in Europe in a month if he stays out whole time, What's an average good month for lease driver how much bring home pay?
@Trucking With Rex thats cool, I thought u had to do 1 year in reefer b4 you were able to do tank. Ive got my license with everything but hazmat. What is the pay scale for company drivers on tanker side? 40cpm?
@@ButterflySoar 53cpm, just fyi I had a buddy who started reefer with prime and after 4-5 months switched to food grade tanker. They just require you to do (tanker boot camp) 2 days of classes. Thursday and Friday all day and you get paid $500 for it as well. Hope this helps ya!
@Trucking With Rex do they require a physical test like lifting 70 pounds etc? Climbing the ladder isnt a problem, just a little out of shape and my upper body strength aint what it used to be. 😐
That could’ve happened to anyone bro don’t sweat it. Have the trls at my company are reversed so when pumping off just start out slow from what I know 🫡 keep on yanking my guy. Best of luck to you

Flatbed was my 2nd choice 🤙💯
You gotta do you
Do you have to have your hazmat prior to applying if you have experience? I will use your code
No HAZMAT needed at prime 🤙💯
My homie left me 😭😂
😂

There’s always room to learn…. No matter how long you’ve been doing something or how old you are.
You go where you are more comfortable in trucking bro that's what counts.

What would you recommended for a Virginia driver? Food grade or inedible? I’m in tnt at the moment.

Wow! 3800😢
Do they have a chemical tanker side? I made great money as a company driver doing hazmat.
What company if you don’t mind me asking?
No HAZMAT at prime on the tanker side
How much labor is invoked in tanker? I used to be flatbed at Melton, but that's a completely different form of labor. Thanks
Easier than flatbed work by a mile

Can you go straight into tanker or do you have to wait 1 year with Prime?
You can go straight into tanker no experience needed. I came with no CDL or experience got my CDL through Prime! 🤙💯

Hey if I’m in psd training right now doing flatbed is there anyway I can switch to tanker?
Yes talk to your recruiter
Привет, Рекс. Показывай больше самого процесса вождения и пейзажи. Поднимают настроение твои видеоролики. И не ешь так много сахара!!!
I live in SGF and have been driving local for 7 years. In my bed every night. Inedible tanker. Hourly paid ≈4500 weekly. Hmu if you interested.
I don’t blame you for going back to the inedible division, food grade looked like too much B.S.
They said leasing is not that great
You don’t have to lease, company driver is always an option. Leasing is working out for me 🤞🙏
Who cares what someone thinks do you man
Don’t pay attention to the hater
3 weeks no home time …. You sound soft bro ….. if you can’t go two months out you really ain’t seeing no money
😂 tankers don’t have to be out 2 straight months with no home time to make money. Stay safe bro! Soft….. lol
If you have to stay out for months to make money you ain’t doing it right
