Actually the clock was coming up to 12.51am, because when it fades to black, the minute hand moves when the second hand ticks to full minute.
The minute hand moves but not a full minute’s distance, more like half a minute’s worth.
John Bull closed in Romford in 1993, ironically the year I was there.
Sometimes Hill Street Blues was shown much later, around 11:30pm.
