Weaving in ends is my LEAST favorite thing in the whole process. But I do it and the same way u do. I make hats to send to my moms nursing home and a couple other places. Not too long ago ended up weaving in ends for 15 hats all at same time cuz I had put it off. Silly me!! Now I always do it as I go. Thank u for sharing

I like to weave my ends as I crochet the next row by doubling the end with my new yarn or by tapping the end under my new stitches as I go so that I do not have another step to come back and hide them.
A trick I learned a few years ago. If you're worried about your ends showing through on the other side, place your needle where you want it to go but before pulling the needle through, have a look on the other side, if you can see the shiny needle, you're going to be able to see the thread/yarn you're securing

I love seeing peoples methods too! Sometimes I crochet over the ends if working in rows before (also I often crochet in the ends - I'll have to do a video on that one as it's really hard to describe 😂)

Hello Robin, I do this the same way you do. It’s interesting because today I posted a question on IG, and many people almost 100% identified they do not sew as they go they wait until the very end of their project. This might make sense when you’re making a continuous blanket and you might have to take it apart if you noticed a mistake. But I agree that with granny squares - finish them as you make them or you will have a big other project at the end of having to join them!
I want to update my comment! I posted my comment after day one of my poll on IG, and after day 2 the results were totally different! It seems the respondents were actually split 50/50! So there you have it!
I sew in my ends the same way as you do. I watched this video in the hope you were going to show me a miraculous faster way of securing ends! At least I know I have been doing the right thing -however tedious!

I've only been leaving a 1 inch tail and crocheted over it when I've been joining. I'm new to crochet and no one ever gives information on how to weave the ends in so I've just been doing it how I cover the tails when I cross stitch

Something else I like to do, as insurance, is when I add a color in the corner (ch2 sp) I like to crochet over the last tail a bit. I still weave my ends in really well, but it helps tack that last tail down and push it aside while I'm working the current round. Just a little something I found useful 😊
Oops. I didn't know weaving in the ends was even a thing. I just finished my first granny square blanket and I just snipped off all the ends 😱 now I'm filled with dread. At least I know now!
I'd love to know how to do this properly on a looser Stitch. I've just made a snood with bulky yarn and a large diameter hook so it feels like it wouldn't really stay in place as well.
Hi Robin ~ I'm working with a wool, cashmere, silk blend yarn. One color. When coming to the end of the ball I just started the new ball and left long ends. They are scattered throughout the blanket, not at the ends. I am a beginner so I didn't realize I should have used a Russian join as I was crocheting. My question is: since my yarn is slightly silky, should I make a knot with the two ends before I weave them in? I am asking you because you are the best at explaining the different techniques. There is a thing called a double magic circle. There is a YT on it somewhere. That's all I do now, and still weave the tail well. It's a tiny bit fiddly to close, but it gets to be 2nd nature, and worth the troubke.
The double magic circle is what I use for my own blankets! It's a pain and a fiddly but totally worth it I agree! I've never had a double come undone x

Where do you weave in your second green tail? The one you started the round with. In the same corner? I always do it it like that, but I find it quite bulky, especially when you use it in clothing

You can absolutely do it right at the very end but you will die a little inside when confronted with them all 😂 I personally like to *try* and get them done as I go so that when my project is finished, it's finished there and then with the final stitch rather than staring at another few hours work weaving in ends 🙃
@shwetanaik3646 if you're anything like me, you'll plough on excited about the project and won't want to stop to weave in ends anyway 😂 I do TRY but very often fail at practicing what I preach LOL There's no right or wrong, ends can be done at any point 😄
I so wish I had watched this video earlier. I always weave my ends in, but not as carefully as you do. My ends are woven in about 1 1/2", but not going back and forth. I hope they do not come out in the wash. I use laundry bags and if I give a blanket away I include a laundry bag, and washing instructions.
My squares are very small and there is no space to weave in the tails over many stitches. I want to ask if the first step is enough to weave in the tails.

Im making my first blanket and 80% of the way through it i have realised that i have left all my ends way too short. So now ive made an extra step for myself of attaching more yarn to the ends so that i can sew them in 🤦♀️
Luckily i found a way to weave them in using a very very thing crochet hook which workes well except it has a tendency to pull other strands🫣 but it works well so i cant complain!

There's no right or wrong, ends can be done at any point 😄

I so wish I had watched this video earlier. I always weave my ends in, but not as carefully as you do. My ends are woven in about 1 1/2", but not going back and forth. I hope they do not come out in the wash. I use laundry bags and if I give a blanket away I include a laundry bag, and washing instructions.

My squares are very small and there is no space to weave in the tails over many stitches. I want to ask if the first step is enough to weave in the tails.

my ends always end up sticking out no matter what i freaking do ive been melting them together with a lighter cuz im sick of them popping out
Im making my first blanket and 80% of the way through it i have realised that i have left all my ends way too short. So now ive made an extra step for myself of attaching more yarn to the ends so that i can sew them in 🤦♀️

Luckily i found a way to weave them in using a very very thing crochet hook which workes well except it has a tendency to pull other strands🫣 but it works well so i cant complain!

I have plans to make a granny square blanket and I accidentally cut the ends way to short. 😅 Thankfully this one is just a test one with some excess yarn

After watching this i might be able to finish off blanket i made thats 2 different blue colors. That is done but all ends are still on it
