  • This is just a short video on a cub cadet that I just got in today.. I’m not a fan of the single cylinder big bore motors V twin all the way!!!!!

    Single cylinder engines are fine. What you’ve got is a Kohler Courage which is notorious for being a junk engine. They are garbage engines. Thin block castings that crack when the crankcase bolts get loose and get broken off by the flywheel, crappy plastic camshafts, blown head gaskets, and bad starters just to name a few issues.
    But it’s predecessor was the Kohler Command single cylinders with hydraulic lifters were excellent engines. They could run forever.
    Single cylinder engines that are below 16 HP seem to be fine, but anything above it and they always seem to have more problems. It’s better to have a twin cylinder for anything above 16 HP.
