Melee is way easier outside of these one shot spells which only work on a few bosses anyway.

Thats why I love Elden Ring. You spend enough time with it and crack the code to a build you can feel like a god. Or you can play as a wretch and beat the game as a lvl 1. So much choice.

I'm only level 26 as a samurai so far (just started) found the second katana so duel wield them and no I can kill anything in like 1-2 seconds

Crazy part is it's not even optimized. You haven't reached the soft cap of 60 INT at least, you currently don't have access to Terra Magica a mage buff spell that increases all magic damage up to 35% for anyone who stands in it, you currently don't have the gravity staff and the Carian regal sceptre/Lusat's staff. Then there is the Magic scorpion charm, the great sorcery charm, godfrey's icon, and ether the basic sorcery charm or radagon icon.
Most ppl dont't fight the second boss in the game with a optimized build.
Don't most of the magic damage buffs barely make a difference for meteor though? Since it's mostly physical damage.

One could in theory (this is a randomizer) get a meteorite staff to put in the off hand, then get ether carian regal sceptre or lusat's staff, terra magica, 60-80 Int, and perhaps a couple of talismans. You're right about the spell doing physical damage however Terra magica doing 35% of all magic damage helps here since it mostly goes towards the base damage. As for certain buffs, anything to increase Int will make the gravity magic do more damage because that affects the Sorcery scaling.

This is not full nagic damage, so it doesn’t suffer to much from lack of magic buffs

I remember on day 1 using Comet Azure with the wondrous flask and it was cheeeeeese. Put on Moonveil and Lusat's Staff, mixed with Terra Magicka and Mimic, and it was such godsend damage.

They put jumping attacks so people can jump attack, just like how they made heavy attacks so people could heavy attack, or like light attacks and so on, it's not that deep bro, it's just a mechanic.

Final fantasy made me absolutely love and fear the idea of a meteor or meteor shower as a spell. So cool to see some wild version of that, even if it's only by looks
in 14, didn't they send a giant meteor on the original for then you as the player to clean it all up? ya, I guess I would be fearful too.

@@starlyghtdrifter66 Most spells in dark souls 1 where just variation of a single energy shot, spells in dark souls 2-3 started to get cool but still mostly felt like you were spamming magic bubbles from afar.
Elden ring spells actually feel like a full fantasy repertoir of cool powers that fits various situations.

Theres also players who have made insta kill strength builds aswell. Honestly any boss is easy with most build types if you get the right buffs and weapons and level high enough

I always see clips of people pulling off insane Meteorites of Astel casts, but everytime I use it most of them just miss.
Because it actually requires to read the boss patterns and take the risk to find the optimal moment where they will stay in place long enough for the damage to be relevant.
But of course people who never used a spell ever will act like that's much easier than spammin R1 or jump attacks
It's efficient against large and more stagnant bosses, wouldn't work if you tried to pull this off on malenia or radagon for example
@@naproupi yea it requires a lot of setup, i mean im not going to sit here and say that it isnt cheesy but theyre late game spells. the thing that bothers me is you can brute force so much with some weapons that have insane stagger potential or just with massive bleed procs that can trivialize certain encounters. i watched my buddy spam a katana with bloodflame blade against maliketh and deleted him instantly. but nobody talks about that because people who have never used magic will see a clip like this and think magic is instantly easy mode. out of all my characters int is honestly the most boring way to play the game in my experience, not because you can one shot (melee builds can do that too), it's because on the 70% of bosses that you cant hit with this spell or comet azur, the only spell that is actually good against them is night comet so they won't dodge it. otherwise they just side step or the spell is way too inefficient fp wise you might as well just use an ash of war instead.
*so there you have it, easy mode*

I played this game until NG+8 and the last run was my best experience. My build? Full 99 int,faith, and mind. NO STR, Vigor and endurance. Its painful when a random mob can one shot me on NG+8 but I can also one shot everything.

That is how fantasy portrayed mages actually fight, with heavy preparation BEFORE the fight, that is why their main status is INTELLIGENCE.

There are efforts. Getting the spell for example. Not to mention said spell can jump between master sniper and stormtroopers levels of accuracy, sometimes all meteors will get the shot and others you'll be lucky if more than one succeeds.

Souls fans love to gatekeep the "souls experience" because they don't understand how the game is designed. There is also an element of not wanting to give credit, and ffxiv has a huge problem with it. "nice clear I guess, It was way harder when I did it." kind of shit.

@@carstan62 Yeah I can kind of understand that, but at the same time, you can never go back and do it at the difficulty it was back then, even if the game never changed. Strats become more optimized, knowledge grows, players get better, but the fight stays the same.
Classic WoW was a shock for a lot of people when the game that took months to get to the end of at it's launch took days.

I kinda want him to play Dragons Dogma. It even has a big 2h warrior class and it has berserk weapon and armor in it. You could play a warrior and literally put on the armor and weapon of guts or griffith. I wonder why he never played it. If only Capcom would remake it in 2023 graphics...

I don’t understand the hate magic gets. Strength builds with insane amount of health plus 20 health potions all while wearing the heaviest armor swinging the highest damage duel wielding weapons……you can just spam heal then roll in or jump strike. Back off and repeat. I’ve always felt strength builds literally took no skill

Magic in Dark Souls games had always been op in pve. The only title I remember it sucked I believe it was demon souls were you had limited casts per spell and you basically had to reach the boss without using any spell.
That's DS2 I think, I'm playing demon Souls right now and it has the FP bar like other games.. unless they changed it with the remake
@@Kumire_921 DS1 had limited uses, but you could equip more than one copy of a spell if you wanted. I.e. Soul Arrow had 30 uses per slot. Dark Bead was 6, Crystal Soul Spear was 4.
DS2 used the same system but had consumables that could restore uses of a spell. This was likely to make the "never rest at a bonfire" achievement possible.
DS3 was the first (dark souls) game to have the FP bar and infinite usage spells.

yeah that was me the entire elden ring game, all my friends on the struggle, me over here being goku yelling THIS GAME IS TOO EASY, BRING OUT BLOODBOURNE 2 I NEED A REAL CHALLENGE.
Yup azur comet with the set and tear for zero mana costs.. Everything melts. Only bosses which are tricky are agile bosses who dodge your spells everything else just drops

I used the comet azur on the elden beast. EZ mode
Elden ring is like many other games: starting out as a magic user can be difficult and annoying, but once you get to a higher level you are absurdly powerful.
I used a strength build first play through, dex second playthrough, and now on my third I’m running an int build and holy it’s infinitely more difficult than any other build until you get late game with the op spells like comet azure and the meteors but that’s until like level 100 so after 30 hours I’m not even there yet.

Up until leyndell, playing as a mage was the 2nd most awful experience I had in elden ring. 1st was pure faith.
The game was never difficult, even if you are severely limiting yourself. I miss when Souls games were actually hard.
