Hello my friend, I bought 5 compression clamps. I found you when I researched ideas for using these on the workbench. Most opinions and videos about it are on your channel. I followed other toggle clamp ideas as well. Thank you for sharing these beautiful ideas. I will try what suits me. I'll be on your channel now. Because we do similar jobs. I also do woodwork as a hobby. Thank you for sharing. See you all the time. Big greetings. Stay healthy and happy.
my girlfriend saw this and she said "niiiice how about you come over here and clamp this pretty panel... y'know, firmly tighten my toggles" 💪🏽 I can tell you, The workpiece was handled *properly* , and I will leave it at that 😉
I eventually will make one of these tables once I get my garage all sorted out. I think the inexpensive toggle clamps is an ingenious idea. Once you have the aluminum tubing, pieces of wood, some screws and the clamps, you can probably make any number of these at about a tenth of the more expensive clamps made by some of the well known companies. Thank you so much!
Just made a couple of the T bar clamps. A suggestion- if you have (or buy) a 6 mm die, you can use 6 mm rod (instead of threaded rod) and thread the top 50 mm. This is not only stronger, it means the smooth surface will not mar the table. I added a sleeve of heatshrink, for an even smoother/softer surface. I made the bars and handles (with a 6mm insert) out of thick ply. Many thanks for the idea!
Difficult to give a definite answer. It depends which toggle clamp you will get (what size) Then you can upgrade the rod with a foot that will have an impact plus as in my case I have added a piece of plywood as a base and again depending on how thick that is you will be able to clamp different sized material. Have you got any particular size in mind?
Great ideas! I need to do more with the dogholes in my workbench. Thanks for the inspiration. When I make a simular video I will definitely recommend your video in it. Greetings
If you build that wood base 96mm long and place dog at one end and toggle at other you can then set your work piece at Any distance from holes which allows for cutting any size
great idea I think I will just get a flat bar like an l bracket material put a bend in get a 1/4 inch ready rod cut and bend and buy some handles from amazon or try a wing nut first thanks
One more thing to modify the Ttrack clamps would be to elongate the hole in to a slot. I think this will make them more useable. Regards Geoff Maddison
Agreed. I just added some slots around my work top and did not need holes. Just make sure the individual slots are not too long to weaken the work top.
Hello Thomas. I have made dogs w 7/8” dowel and a base to hold a toggle clamp (similar to yours I think). The hole and dowel are both 7/8” but the dogs slip up a bit and cause loose clamping. Any easy solutions to keep the dogs snug so clamping is tight?
Aluminum rod for the toggle clamps can / could you go any more expensive yep I am sure you could LOL yeah then drill it out the entire lenth for a bolt in the center
I initially drilled it with a bit that supposed to make thread inside of the rod but that didn't work so after that I just used a normal drill bit for metal👍
Casual DIY thanks for the quick reply, I will have a look as your solution maybe exactly what I need, I use mainly hand tools, but use a mitre saw, track saw and a planer thicknesser and my table saw will be going as I hardly use it as I can rip cut quicker than setting up my cheap Lidl table saw to get each cut parallel to the fence.
Thanks mate, try this one rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F293163136858 The seller I bought it from seems to be out of stock :/
Hi Tomasz, how are you finding having dog holes all over your bench? I'm toying with different patterns to save drilling them all out - two runs at the top, two at the bottom, a few perpendicular, etc. Would you drill all out if you did it again? Cheers!
Hi, that was my initial thought to have them in certain places but I just went with the whole bench. Now I think it was a good idea I tend to use the whole bench and it's so easy to clamp everything. One downside is that if you are working with small things like screws, bolts or something that can tell through the holes then it becomes annoying. Fortunately I got two carts on both sides and now I put/work with those small things on them 👍 hope this helps😁
Toggle clamps should be screwed to the table beside the object. I made a Long Bar Double Clamp .This all-in-one clamp covers the entire table. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/sMxZPmWKsro/видео.html

Thanks you. I have found a better use for the spare toggle clamps I have lying around.....

That's true, I got way too many now, oh wait it's never too many just need to find space to put them somewhere 😂👍
Thanks my friend. I loved your job.
Thank you kindly

That's great improvement idea thanks. We both benefited from out now 😁
Thanks for this idea.. I prefer the toggle clamp with few diy adjustment.. Easy to attach on workbench..
Thank you for watching
@@CasualDIY ur welcome...
Hi Thomas really enjoyed the video and very well delivered. Could you tell me the thickest timber you can clamp using the toggle clamp.

Good idea, could be a solid improvement
I like it. Practical for both woodworking and metalworking/welding fixture tables. I'll build some. Thank you.
Thanks, glad you liked it. Got two more videos with some ideas coming out in the next two weeks👉
Great video mate. Keep them coming 👍🏻🇦🇺

Nice and simple, but I never thought of it, so really impressed with your ingenuity. Off to BG to order some clamps!
Hehe thank you, got 3 more videos on this topic coming out over the next three weeks👍 hopefully it will give bit more inspiration 😁
Very nice ways to use those cheap clamps 👍
Thank you, always work to a budget so I try to use what I got 👍

Thanks mate, plenty still to come👍
It's very good idea, thanks
Thanks, glad you liked it 👍
good idea. Thanks
Thanks for watching👍
Very clever well done. 👍🥃🏴
Thanks mate, there more to come👍
Great ideas! But, as you have a tap, why not tap the ali bar? neater and uses less threaded rod.
Yes mate, that's a good idea!

Thank you, few more in the coming weeks mate👍
I like the first modified clamp. Would a starlock washer help keep the 90* side more secure to the clamp? Just a thought
Could do 🤔
Was hoping you would give us a link to the place where you bought the clamps.
I got them off Banggood, they come and go so the links don't last very long unfortunately
Very nice!
Thanks 👍😁
Good stuff
Thanks 👍
Aluminum rod for the toggle clamps can / could you go any more expensive yep I am sure you could LOL yeah then drill it out the entire lenth for a bolt in the center
When I actually made this the aluminium rod was quite cheap actually
Great idea! So, your aluminum shaft is to make a grip and friction to the table hole right?
Thanks, that's correct😁👍
Thanks Thomas!
Good stuff 👍
Thank you mate, more to come in the next few weeks 👍
Instead of aluminum glue a wood dowel piece into the plywood base. Even easier & cheaper.
Hi, why use so much aluminium rod for the toggle dogs? Surely only the thickness of the mft top is in contact with it.
That's true, I have overdone it a bit. But for security I would go bit more that just the tabletop thickness.
Hi Geeeeezer, Did you use a tap to drill the rod?
I initially drilled it with a bit that supposed to make thread inside of the rod but that didn't work so after that I just used a normal drill bit for metal👍
Nice solutions all I need is an MFT table, like how your mitre saw appears out of nowhere, have you got a video on your MFT table
Hi and thank you. Yes got videos on building my whole workbench just check out my Workshop upgrade playlist and they are all in there 👍

can toggle clamp function with thick material?
All depends how you set them up
Neat idea
Thanks, got few more coming in the next couple of weeks👍
Super...big like !!!

@@CasualDIY Yeah, that was my thinking. I might go with a tray 10cm underneath to catch small items and store the dogs, etc. Cheers
@@richardclarke9966 no problem mate 👍
I’ll do this but with a wooden dowel instead
May come with some issues during different seasons as the wood expands and contracts. Thats why I went with aluminium.
Where do you get the cheap t slot clamps?
Aliexpress mate👍
Good use of the clamps. Someone ate their brainfood growing up 🤗.
Hehe thanks 👍😁

I don't like this one , threads will damage dog holes too much ..maybe place some plastic tube over thread
Not had major issues with that but ye adding some plastic tube would improve it for sure
Love the ***** accent
Hehe thanks 👍
@
That is a terrible way to abuse a tap. It is supposed to thread holes NOT drill holes.
The holes have been pre-drilleed so not sure what are you referring to.
