What are you talking about? Everybody LOVES screws. I am pretty sure everyone has made a "screw you" factory at some point. The only good thing about screws is the alternate recipe with steel beams.
If I was to make a wild guess as to what is causing the LOD issues, perhaps being so far out in the water from the "center" of the map causes you to reach a point where the the coordinates of the objects exceeds the integer limit and funky things start happening.
LODs are calculated based on distance, floating point distance specifically. You'd have to be a fairly extreme distance before you'd start seeing that sort of issue. The signs are more likely the culprit, yeah.
@@TotalXclipse Could it be the assets number, more than just signs? I have that happening on my two oldest saves only. Your factories do not have a ton of machines but the architecture eats up a LOT of foundations walls and other bits ^^'
I don't know what might be causing the LOD issues, but you can run some console commands to try to force lower (higher quality) LODs. foliage.LODDistanceScale 5 (default 1) Causes a number of things to use better LODs. Helps a lot with glass buildings especially, also foundations and distant foliage. Use higher numbers for better LODs. r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale 0.1 (default 1) Causes static meshes, such as belts, to use a better LOD at a greater distance. Use lower numbers for better LODs. 0.1 is 10x improvement on LOD selection. Keep the value above 0. r.SkeletalMeshLODBias -5 (default 0) Similar to previous, but for skeletal meshes, which includes things like smelters and constructors. Lower numbers use better LOD. This value adds to the LOD, so use negative numbers to choose a lower/better LOD. You can also try increasing the view distance with the following. Not sure if it impacts LODs. r.ViewDistanceScale 3 (default 1) Multiplier for view distance in general. Makes things visible farther away, but only affects things that are close enough to be loaded (which can be tweaked by the next command).
Snowflakes from water always and only form hexagonal crystals. This looks very nice, but with 9 spokes, it's not quite a snowflake. Maybe the water is different there. I was thinking of a 3D tree style factory, but got busy doing other projects. Not sure if I'll have time to design and plan. I also could not decide where to put the factory. Although I could always move it with SCIM later, I guess. If doing a tree, maybe a layout like yours for the base, then slightly smaller as I go up. I want it to be as visible as the space needle.
Just to set the record straight, these probably aren't LOD issues, as the models are all the same, they're mip-map issues. When you are far enough away from a texture, one pixel on the texture becomes smaller than one pixel on the screen, which starts to look weird. (this issue is very apparent in minecraft, for example, where you get weird artifacts when viewing blocks from far away). To counter this, the game precomputes several downscaled versions of the texture that it starts using when you get far away enough, known as mip-maps. (not to be confused with bilinear filtering, which is what happens when a pixel of the texture appears larger than a pixel on the screen.) Additionally, if the all instances of the texture are far enough away from the camera, it can load a lower resolution mip-map in order to save memory. Of course, this can go wrong. Either the game is unable to correctly determine what mip-map level to assign to the texture, or your computer might not have enough memory to hold the full resolution texture. I've seen these issues in several of your past videos, so it may be worth having a look at your settings and hardware. (specifically, turn down your texture settings, as counterintuitive as that sounds) If your GPU does not have enough VRAM to hold the full resolutions of the textures, you may want to look at upgrading, or checking if there is anything else that is using it. It's also possible that coffeestain has not properly optimized asset loading and unloading in that particular area, which would cause poor performance while you are there. I have also found that my computer suffers from texture issues during ficsmas as well, so you might just have to wait it out til' the end of the month.
ficsmas can also be turned off in settings, if it is that causing the issue. I turned it off once I got bored of of that content so I didn't have ginormous presents falling everywhere getting in my way haha.
I dont have that porblem with LOD but maybe it has someting to do with that you are far out in the water. Or Maybe with that foundations, who are clipping. but i dont know just guess
Making a pyramid and choosing the Louvre as the place your stealing it from even though pyramids have been used in construction for 5 thousand years (at least)... Seriously though, it looks good and I wish some of these slopes were a little steeper some times.
I have a similar issue with delayed texture loading; mine aren't going in & out like yours are, usually just when I load up the game everything looks crappy for a couple minutes. I've screwed around with all my settings to no avail, I'm left just figuring it's the amount of structures in my save. Either that or there's some kind of error in my save 🤔
Holy expleetive deleted! This is my first year doing Ficsmas, idnk you get gifts from gift trees! I thought perhaps they were locked until the 25th and then had loot like the advent calender. Glad to see they provide gifts for the crafts. I will now be able toget those annoying 500 stars faster!
how do u plan ur safegame like do u have sme kind of big plan like producing so much of everything that u can produce X amount of the Phase 4 from the space elevator?
I think i just experienced the same thing, took me a while to trigger what you're seeing.... It seems like the blurring in the menu-bring up is sorta still applied after closing a menu (like when you hit exscape, the game blurrs out). I triggered it by alt-tabbing in photo mode, i'll supplement your bug repport when i find the reproducible steps.
I get that problem with Vulkan. Lately it has been worse. I had to switch to DX12. It's a shame because I usually get much better frame rates with Vulkan in games.
Vulkan was more responsive when moving around, but tended to crash on 90% of autosaves, which was made worse with 5m autosaves to minimize progress lost. Switched to DX12, took performance hit, but only about a 1% chance of crashing on autosave, so I bumped it up to 1hr, then a crash made me bump it back down to 15 minutes.
I've also been having LOD issues, and I don't have nearly as many signs as you must (seriously it's fewer than 50). It's not as bad as yours, but I've definitely noticed it with terrain more than anything else. I hope there's a fix soon.
Hey @TotalXclipse love your stuff mate. I've just started satisfactory and curious about how you actually connect all these different factories together. I know you got a train but that just brings things to your storage area correct? And since each factory makes basically a singular item, how do you get those items to other factories that need those parts. For example making a computer with a standard recipe - are you just making the cables and screws inside that singular factory or shipping some over from the copper factory and iron factory? I've just tended to build factories close together and awkwardly move overflows across but ends up looking like a mess. Anyway thanks for the content!
I've also had the issue with LODs since U7 in EA branch. At first it was just the resource outcrops not loading, but now the buildables are also freaking out. I am not losing all, like you, but building new stuff, especially splitters and elevators, are completely freaking out. Maybe a bug related to blueprints?
I bought the game about a week ago, and i can only play the grass fields biome. It either crashes the game upon load, or as soon as i spawn on any other biome.
I don't have a problem with ficsmas. and anyway, it's Update 7, not Ficsmas causing the problem. when you place a blueprint it goes blurry, which doesn't happen to me since i haven't unlocked blueprints. New Series? then you should start from tier 6/7!
