कन्हैया कुमार दिल्ली के उत्तर-पूर्वी लोकसभा क्षेत्र से चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं. वे इंडिया गठबंधन की तरफ से कांग्रेस के उम्मीदवार हैं. उन्होंने पिछला लोकसभा चुनाव बिहार के बेगूसराय से सीपीआई की टिकट पर लड़ा था. लेकिन वहां उन्हें भाजपा के गिरिराज सिंह के हाथों हार का सामना करना पड़ा था.
न्यूज़लॉन्ड्री ने कन्हैया से बातचीत की. कन्हैया ने अपनी उम्मीदवारी, उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र के वर्तमान सांसद मनोज तिवारी के कार्यों, स्थानीय समस्याओं, पार्टी के अंदर उनका विरोध होने के आक्षेप और 2016 में जेएनयू में हुई वारदात आदि पर खुलकर अपनी राय रखी. इसके साथ ही उन्होंने जीतने पर अपने एजेंडे और पिछले चुनाव के अनुभव पर भी बात की.
कन्हैया का कहना है कि स्थानीय लोगों को यातायात जाम, सड़क, अन्डरपास जैसी स्थानीय समस्याओं के साथ-साथ महंगाई और बेरोजगारी जैसी व्यापक समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है. उन्होंने भाजपा सांसद पर पिछले 10 सालों में क्षेत्र में किसी भी प्रकार का विकास कार्य नहीं करने का आरोप लगाया.
उन्होंने लोगों से अपने लिए वोट न करके अपनी समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए वोट करने की अपील की. कन्हैया ने प्रधानमंत्री पर हमला करते हुए कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री कहते हैं कि कांग्रेस खत्म हो गई लेकिन उनके हर भाषण के बड़े हिस्से में कांग्रेस का जिक्र होता है.
